Chapter 9 – Central Continent

“Do I need to compensate?” Lu Yang nervously asked. His brain was probably the most valuable thing on his whole body.

“Compensate?” Senior Brother glanced at the book in his hand, then looked at Lu Yang, and his eyes twitched.

According to the rules, they did need to compensate with spirit stones, but the problem was if this book was leaked, it would be waiting for the Dragon and Phoenix tribes to join forces and kill their way from the demon realm to Seek Tao Sect.

Although Seek Tao Sect was not afraid of the Dragon and Phoenix tribes, the taste of dragon liver and phoenix marrow was delicious and nourishing… but they were still a reputable sect. If they had banned books like “The Dragon and Phoenix Transformation” in their library, it would eventually tarnish their reputation.

Thinking of this, Senior Brother silently hid the book in his sleeve, looking indifferent.

“Compensate? Did you dirty any books? I didn’t see anything.”

Destroying books in the library was too obvious and would trigger the formation, so it was better to destroy them outside.

Lu Yang instantly understood the situation – Senior Brother wanted to keep the book for himself.

So nothing had happened just now.

The two of them looked at each other, their mouths lifted, as if they really understood each other’s thoughts.

The banned book was just a small episode, and Lu Yang didn’t forget his purpose for coming to the library.

After searching for a long time, he finally found the book that introduced the Central Continent – “Introduction to the Land of the Great Continent”.

Excitedly rubbing his hands, Lu Yang read it carefully.

“There are human races, demon races, ghosts, and so on in the world. The Central Continent is a gathering place for the human race, and the largest power on the continent is the Great Xia Dynasty, which represents the orthodox of the human race and suppresses the human race’s luck.”

“So, although my family is close to Seek Tao Sect, it is also within the scope of the Great Xia Dynasty.”

“To the east of the continent is a vast ocean with scattered islands and occasional ancient beasts like Kunpeng and Chaos.”

“To the west of the continent is the Golden Buddha Country, with boundless pure land and many temples like gravel.”

“To the south of the continent is the demon realm of the demon race, where the Dragon and Phoenix tribes are the overlords. The demon race is cruel and bloodthirsty, and there is constant friction between the Great Xia Dynasty and the demon realm. There are also demon races hiding in the Great Xia Dynasty, which are a scourge to the human race.”

“To the north of the continent is the extreme north, where the ice never melts and no grass grows. There are few traces of humans or other creatures, and only extremely powerful races live there.”

“The human race is the most populous on the Central Continent, and there are also the most cultivators. Some cultivators choose to enter the court as officials, while more cultivators choose to establish their own sects or join a certain sect. The sects of the Central Continent are numerous, among which the most powerful are the five major immortal sects, including Seek Tao Sect, which is the leader of the orthodox.”

“The book also says that there must be a great expert in the tribulation period and means to match the combat power of the tribulation period in the five major immortal sects… Could it be that the sect master is a great expert in the tribulation period? Or does Seek Tao Sect have a secluded elder who never appears?”

Thinking that he was fortunate to be able to worship under the sect master who might be a great expert in the tribulation period, Lu Yang was somewhat ecstatic. He stood up, poured a glass of water, and restrained his excitement while drinking, then sat back down to continue reading.

“Evil cultivators are bloodthirsty and use the lives of others to enhance their own cultivation. They are more harmful than the demon race. Evil cultivators are ultimately not respectable cultivators, and they hide in dark corners. Under the joint suppression of the Great Xia Dynasty and the five major immortal sects, evil cultivation sects can only act secretly and dare not show themselves.”

In addition to evil cultivators, the book also mentioned something called “evil demons,” which was quite elusive. It said that evil demons were born without emotions and were the shadow of the human race. It was very mysterious, and Lu Yang didn’t understand what evil demons were.”Ordinary people use gold, silver, and copper as currency, while cultivators use lower, middle, and upper-grade spirit stones as currency.”

Next, Lu Yang began to learn common knowledge about the cultivation world, such as the standards for dividing various realms, the various skills of cultivation, the types of demonic beasts, the levels of cultivation techniques, and the history of the Central Continent…

With the knowledge he had learned from the storyteller at the teahouse, Lu Yang still had a long way to go before he could stand firm in the cultivation world.

Lu Yang immersed himself in the sea of knowledge, reading line after line of profound information. It wasn’t until evening, when he felt hungry, that he realized he hadn’t eaten all day.

At this point, the disciple guarding the scripture pavilion had changed from a senior brother to a senior sister.

Lu Yang respectfully asked, “Excuse me, senior sister, I am a new disciple who just arrived yesterday and I am not familiar with the Seek Tao Sect. Does our sect have a place to eat?”

The senior sister was startled by Lu Yang’s sudden appearance and trembled slightly. She was afraid to talk to people and her personality was well-suited for guarding the scripture pavilion. She couldn’t look Lu Yang in the eye and spoke in a low voice, “As a newcomer, you may not know that our Seek Tao Sect does have a canteen, but as someone who has been here for a while, I don’t recommend that you eat there.”

Lu Yang was puzzled. “Why not? What’s wrong with the canteen?”

“It’s located on Bai Lian Peak, which belongs to Elder Wu Chang. Elder Wu is skilled in refining tools, and the canteen is located on the peak where he refines his tools. The chefs in the canteen are also first-rate tool refiners. The steamed buns can pierce mountains, the rice grains can be used as hidden weapons, and the fried dough sticks can even break steel and iron.”

Lu Yang was speechless. “Why can chefs also be tool refiners?”

The senior sister explained weakly, “Think about it, Brother. The most important thing for a chef is the heat, and tool refiners are best at controlling heat. The relationship between these two professions is closer than you think.”

Lu Yang nodded sincerely. “It’s indeed closer than I thought.”

The senior sister hesitated for a moment when she saw Lu Yang’s simple clothes and appearance. “Also, buying weapons, or rather, eating in the canteen, requires spirit stones. Brother, you don’t seem to have much money.”

The clothing of most cultivators was not necessarily exquisite, but it was usually made of common spiritual materials like Tiancan silk and was impervious to water and fire. Lu Yang’s clothes were simple and plain, with many patches sewn onto them, which revealed that he was an ordinary person.

Lu Yang smiled awkwardly. He really didn’t have any spirit stones.

“Don’t be embarrassed. There are many disciples in our Seek Tao Sect who come from ordinary backgrounds, just like me,” the senior sister comforted him in a soft voice.

“As for eating, well…you can go to the Dan Ding Peak and ask for some abandoned Qi-gathering pills. They may not meet the high standards required by the Dan Ding Peak, but they are still safe to eat. Just be careful of the peak master, Elder Wu Chang, and the senior brothers and sisters, Wen Da, Wu Ming, Qing Kong, and Long Yan.”

Lu Yang suppressed his confusion and thanked the senior sister. “I’m Lu Yang. May I ask for your name, senior sister?”

“I’m Zhou Lulu.”
