Chapter 83 – Little monk

In the mansion of the Crown Prince, the Southwest King personally arrived, a generation of martial king, exuding a domineering aura.

The ten martial kings of Great Shang, each of them can be called a hero in their own right, with strong strength and remarkable military achievements.

As one of the ten martial kings, the Southwest King’s cultivation naturally goes without saying, and he is also a well-known expert in the entire Great Shang.

“Southwest King, please come to the main hall!”

Mu Yuan looked at the Southwest King in front of him and said politely.

The Southwest King nodded and walked towards the main hall of the mansion.

The servants in the mansion served tea, then successively retreated.

In the main hall, the Southwest King silently picked up the tea, took a sip, then put it down, and said, “Your Highness, in three days, it will be the day of your marriage to Qing Qing. I hope that Your Highness will treat Qing Qing well in the future and not let her suffer.”

“Your Highness, rest assured.”

Mu Yuan said solemnly, “After Princess Qing Qing enters the door, she will be the only princess in my mansion, and she will not suffer any grievances.”

After hearing the promise from the Crown Prince in front of him, the Southwest King nodded and said, “With Your Highness’s words, I can rest assured.”

“There is one more thing that I need to remind Your Highness.”

At this point, the Southwest King’s expression became slightly serious, “The Eleventh Prince will be back soon.”

“The Eleventh Brother?”

Mu Yuan narrowed his eyes and said, “Good, the Eleventh Brother’s return will coincide with my marriage to Princess Qing Qing.”

“The Eleventh Prince is young and impulsive. Your Highness had better be on guard.”

The Southwest King reminded.

Mu Yuan nodded and said, “Rest assured, Southwest King. I will pay more attention to the Eleventh Brother.”

“Your Highness should be prepared.”

The Southwest King nodded and looked at the Crown Prince in front of him, saying seriously, “From now on, the Southwest King’s mansion will be the strongest backing for Your Highness. If Your Highness wants to do anything, the Southwest King’s mansion will definitely support it with all its strength.”

On the main seat, Mu Yuan finally showed a smile on his calm face after hearing the words of the Southwest King. He had been waiting for this promise from the Southwest King.

“Where is the little monk?”

In the west wing, after Li Ziye finished practicing his sword, he looked around and asked.

“He went back to his room.”

Bai Wangyu replied, “Seems like he has something on his mind.”

“The monk doesn’t chant, but has developed feelings like an ordinary person. It’s a karmic relationship.”

Li Ziye’s face showed a look of pity and said, “Princess Qing Qing is about to get married, and she’s marrying the Crown Prince. The little monk has no chance.”

“With the temperament of a Buddhist disciple, perhaps it’s just a temporary obsession, and it will pass in a few days.” Bai Wangyu said calmly.

“You obviously don’t understand love.”

Li Ziye said with disdain, “It’s precisely because it has never been obtained that it becomes an obsession. Obsession will only grow deeper. If it were so easy to let go, everyone in the world would become a Buddha.”

In the room, the little monk sat cross-legged, with his eyes closed tightly, chanting scriptures while turning the prayer beads in his hand.

One hundred and eight prayer beads, each one filled with worries. Even though the Buddha’s teachings are boundless, they cannot calm the unquiet heart of the Buddhist disciple.

“Little monk, aren’t you bored sitting in meditation all day?”

“Little monk, I won’t let you leave!”

“Little monk, if you leave, I will jump from here.”

“Little monk, take me away. I don’t like anyone but you!”

“Little monk, even if I die, I won’t marry that Crown Prince.”

Scenes from the past flashed in his mind, and sweat appeared on San Zang’s forehead, his face becoming painful. His heart was restless, and the Buddha could not save him.

“Poof!”

Suddenly, San Zang’s face turned pale, and he spat out a mouthful of blood, staining his monk’s robe red.

The Buddhist disciple with an unstable temperament unexpectedly showed signs of demonic possession. His true qi surged throughout his body, becoming extremely chaotic.

Outside, Li Ziye and Bai Wangyu sensed something and quickly broke open the door, entering to check the situation inside.

“Little monk.”

Li Ziye saw the blood in front of San Zang and was surprised, “What’s wrong with you?”

“I’m fine.”

San Zang stood up, chanted a Buddhist mantra lightly, then closed his eyes again, preparing to continue chanting scriptures to suppress the inner demons.

“Stop chanting. It’s been so long, and it’s still useless.”

Li Ziye forcibly pulled him up and said, “Let’s go, take a walk outside and don’t stay cooped up in the room.”

“Master Li.”

San Zang hadn’t had a chance to refuse and was forcibly dragged out.

Bai Wangyu followed behind, silent.

“Where are you going?”

In the front yard, Li Youwei, who had just returned from handling matters, saw the three people about to leave and asked in surprise.

“Feeling upset, going out for a walk.”Li Ziye responded casually, then dragged San Zang away from the Li Garden.

Behind them, Bai Wangyu politely bowed to Li Youwei and followed along.

“Weirdo.”

Li Youwei shook her head lightly. It was almost dark, and she didn’t want to wander around. These days, her younger brother and these two strange guys had become somewhat abnormal.

It had to be said that in Li Youwei’s heart, her younger brother was always the best. Even if he went bad, it was because of someone else’s influence.

Little did she know, the most abnormal person in the world was Li Ziye.

If anyone was a bad influence, it was Li Ziye leading others astray.

By the Xiangshui River, as night fell, the place became lively with fireworks.

Li Ziye dragged the little monk along, followed by the senior brother from the Confucian School.

The strange group attracted a lot of attention along the way.

“What are you looking at? Haven’t you seen a monk strolling through the pleasure quarters before?”

Li Ziye looked at the onlookers and retorted irritably.

Now that he had two of the strongest young fighters by his side, he wasn’t afraid of anyone. He could lash out at anyone he wanted.

Sure enough, the gazes that came their way at the entrance of the Shihua Garden were all withdrawn, whether or not they recognized the three people, they didn’t want to cause trouble.

“Li benefactor, we can’t go in there.”

San Zang saw where Li Ziye had brought him and quickly covered his eyes with his sleeve, backing away urgently. “I’m a monk, how can I come to a place like this?”

“What place?”

Li Ziye looked at him with disdain. “You obviously have a dirty mind to think like that. We’re just here for a meal.”

Behind them, Bai Wangyu’s expression became somewhat strange at the words. To the pleasure quarters for a meal? Brother Li’s excuses were indeed clear and refined.

“Yes, Young Master Li is right. Little monk, this is just a place to eat. Come on in!”

At this moment, the pretty girls at the entrance of the Shihua Garden twisted their enchanting waists and pulled the little monk’s arm, dragging him inside.

“Brother Li, do these girls all know you?”

Bai Wangyu walked up and said with a strange expression, “A regular customer, huh!”

“Heh.”

Li Ziye looked disdainfully at the little red hat beside him. “What’s wrong with them knowing me? I walk straight and sit upright, unlike you and the little monk, both hypocrites.”

“That’s still better than not being upright like Brother Li.”

Bai Wangyu smiled and replied, then walked inside.

“What kind of people are they!”

Li Ziye said irritably. They ate and drank at his expense, yet they were so arrogant.

Inside the Shihua Garden, as night fell, it became very lively, with guests filling the place and almost no seats left.

However, as a VIP at the Shihua Garden, Li Ziye could certainly find a place. Even if there wasn’t one, a table would be made available.

“Take good care of my two brothers, and you’ll be rewarded handsomely.”

Li Ziye once again showed his nouveau riche side, exuding an air of dominance.

“Young Master Li, don’t you want a girl to accompany you?”

A bold girl beside him said with a coy smile.

“I… I’m waiting for my goddess, Fairy Qing Xuan.”

Li Ziye said with a lovesick expression.

“Fairy Qing Xuan hasn’t been here recently. Young Master Li, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed.”

Several girls at the table covered their mouths and laughed.

“Bai benefactor, Li benefactor, let’s go.”

Surrounded by several girls, San Zang felt uncomfortable and said anxiously.

“No rush.”

Li Ziye smiled. “It’s boring to go back. Let’s relax here. Come, have some tea.”

“I don’t drink alcohol.”

San Zang quickly shook his head and pushed away.

“This is tea, not alcohol!”

Li Ziye asked seriously.

“Li benefactor, I can tell the difference between alcohol and tea.”

San Zang said.

“Hey, little monk, your mind is not set.”

Li Ziye sighed. “No wonder you’ve been troubled by inner demons these days.”

San Zang was taken aback at the words, not understanding. “Li benefactor, what do you mean?”

Bai Wangyu, on the side, silently took a sip of wine.

Oh no, the Buddhist disciple took the bait. Next, he would probably be fooled.

“Cough!”

Sure enough, Li Ziye saw the little monk wavering and sat up straight, beginning to speak. “Little monk, have you ever heard a saying: if you have Buddha in your heart, all beings are Buddha; if you have demons in your heart, all beings are demons. I see this cup of wine as tea because I regard it as tea in my heart, but you see it as wine because you have wine in your heart.”

At this point, Li Ziye felt a little thirsty and drank the wine in one gulp, then coughed several times.

This wine was really hard to drink.

San Zang fell silent, seriously pondering the previous words.

Was his mind really not set on the Buddha?

“All phenomena are illusory. If you see all phenomena as non-phenomena, you will see the Tathagata. Have you heard of it?” Li Ziye saw the little monk’s inner turmoil and continued to deceive.

“No, I haven’t,” San Zang said, shaking his head gently.”I’ve never heard of this; your Buddhist cultivation seems mediocre.”

Li Ziye uttered disdainfully, then continued, “The meaning of this saying is that all the appearances of things you can see are illusory, not real. If you can maintain your true nature and not be deceived by these appearances when you see them, if you can realize that the forms you see are not the true forms, then you can reach the state of the Tathagata.”

Having said that, Li Ziye poured himself another cup of wine and downed it in one gulp.

Damn, what on earth was he talking about?

At the table, Bai Wangyu and several ladies listened to Li Ziye’s words, and at this moment, they were all thoroughly bamboozled.

Beside them, San Zang also stared blankly, lost in thought. After a long while, he stood up and bowed respectfully to the young man before him, saying earnestly, “Master Li’s insights into Buddhism are worthy of my teacher; please accept this humble monk’s bow.”
