Chapter 15 – Worried Clark

The sky was as blue as velvet.

The bright sunlight shone down, and the gentle spring breeze swayed the cherry blossom trees on the campus.

Cherry blossom petals floated down, creating a beautiful and colorful scene.

Students walked back and forth, holding their books, gathering in groups of two or three, chatting.

David and his companions walked through the school, with Clark beside him, his brow furrowed with worry, occasionally glancing at David.

Just like how parents always worry about their children going astray, Clark believed that as an older brother, he had a responsibility to prevent his younger brother from losing his inherent goodness and becoming cold, even evil, as he came into contact with the world.

Especially after discovering that David possessed powers far beyond ordinary people.

Clark had been thinking about this issue all night, how to pull David back from the edge of darkness.

“To casually turn someone into a vegetable without any burden in your heart, this is not just a normal trend of becoming bad.”

That’s what Clark thought.

He felt that David’s thoughts and understanding were already on the dangerous edge of a cliff.

Taking one more step would be the beginning of his downfall, placing himself above others at will.

Seeing that Clark was eager to find an angle to play the role of his life mentor, David didn’t know what to say.

[Concern from Clark +6, +5, +7…]

However, since yesterday, Clark had suddenly increased the speed at which he provoked David’s emotions, as if he had been thinking about him from yesterday until now.

“At this rate, perhaps he will be able to complete a thorough fusion and activate the next template soon.”

David was in a good mood, unexpectedly gaining something.

He wondered what the next template would be like. Would it be weaker, comparable to the Thanos template, or even stronger?

They entered the building.

“Why are they all looking at us?”

The students in the corridor occasionally cast curious and surprised glances at the group of people, and Pete whispered to himself.

“Could it be that they finally realized that being short doesn’t affect my charm?”

“Save it, Pete.”

Chloe, who was buried in a newspaper, looked up and observed.

“They are clearly looking at Clark and David, especially David.”

She was also puzzled as to why so many people were looking at the two of them.

David didn’t have Clark’s super hearing, but his extraordinary senses made it easy for him to learn the reason from other people’s whispers.

“Just like the residents of this small town often say, in Smallville, a town not much bigger than a bottle cap, news spreads quickly.”

For example, someone saw a few of the most popular football team members from the high school in a bar, trying to bully someone, but they were beaten up.

Clark’s face showed helplessness.

He had heard it too.

His older brother, who was tall, was pinned to the ground and bullied, and his younger brother, David, cleanly took down several school bullies.

“It seems like Lana is coming towards you, Clark.”

Pete nudged his good friend Clark with his arm. “Hurry up and put away that face that’s full of why I’m such a loser.”

Was he really that obvious?

As they reached the end of the corridor, the beautiful and gentle girl with black hair, Lana, walked over. Clark coughed, feeling a bit resentful, and straightened his back.

Having just had a big fight with her boyfriend, Lana looked sad and hurriedly walked over to apologize to Clark, her voice soft and slightly hoarse from crying.

“I’m sorry, Clark. I didn’t know Whitney was so childish, and he caused trouble for you just because I talked to you.”

Upon hearing the news that had spread on campus, she immediately went to Whitney to confirm, hoping to get an answer from her boyfriend that it was just a rumor.

But Whitney, who felt greatly embarrassed, admitted it with a hint of blame, saying that Lana had shown a different attitude towards Clark, which made him angry and went to find Clark.

“I’m actually fine, Lana.”

Clark smiled and said, “Don’t blame Whitney.”

“I can’t accept that he deceived me. It was clearly him who actively caused trouble for you and lost the necklace I gave him.”

Thinking of this, Lana became even more sad, her eyes turning red, her tone low, “And there was someone in the bar who got drunk and provoked.”

“I think I have to reevaluate my relationship with Whitney.”

Seeing Lana’s sad and pitiful appearance, Clark, who had never encountered such a situation before, scratched the back of his head, flustered and didn’t know how to comfort her, only repeatedly telling her not to cry.

“I saw Whitney at the bar, maybe he was drunk when he did something so irrational.”

Clark, do you even know what you’re saying? As long as the person you secretly love’s mood improves, it’s okay to even excuse your rival in love, right?

David shook his head secretly, feeling that he was beyond help.

Even without Kryptonite, it would be impossible for Clark’s current personality to catch up with this cheerleader.

“David.”

Clark secretly signaled to David, urging him to do as they had agreed yesterday and give Lana the meteorite necklace that meant so much to her.

If she could regain the necklace, maybe Lana would stop being sad.

“David, I’m sorry.”

Remembering something, Lana wiped away her tears and turned to David seriously.

“Because of me, Whitney caused trouble for you guys.”

“It’s okay.”

David didn’t think it was trouble at all. His tone was calm as he casually took out the necklace from his pocket and handed it to her.

“This is your necklace. Clark found it that day and asked me to keep it.”

Clark really wanted to personally hand the necklace to Lana.

But he felt that if he didn’t want to take out the necklace and perform a face-plant on the spot, lying on the ground for a long time unable to get up, and then make a fool of himself again, it would be better to let David do it.

“My necklace.”

Taking the necklace, Lana’s eyes lit up, and a smile appeared on her tear-stained face.

“Thank you, David… and Clark.”

She seemed to have misunderstood something.

If it was Clark who found it, why didn’t he personally return it to her?

Lana thought that David was trying to match her with his older brother, Clark.Seeing David’s indifferent attitude towards her, unlike others in the school who would look away after exchanging necklaces, she appreciated the space he left for Clark and her to talk.

For some reason, she found herself stealing a few more glances at David.

He, like Clark, didn’t participate in any sports and was occasionally seen sitting in a corner of the campus with a book. He was tall but didn’t have the explosive muscles. How did he manage to beat Whitney and his team members?

Clark, who was always intently watching every smile and frown of the goddess, glanced at Lana, then at his younger brother.

A sudden chill ran down his spine, as if he had a bad premonition.

Thump, thump!

Footsteps echoed from around the corner of the corridor.

“Lana!”

An angry Whitney regretted his attitude, realizing he shouldn’t have acted that way. His face turned tense as he tried to catch up and make amends with his girlfriend.

“David, Clark, I have to go.”

Lana didn’t want to see him at this moment. Her face changed, she greeted Chloe and Pete, then hurriedly turned and left.

Whitney, who was trying to catch up, passed by David. His face flashed with unease, his eyes filled with humiliation and anger as he left.

David was indifferent to this.

Around the corner of a staircase.

A figure watched everything coldly, like the gaze of a cold-blooded creature, shifting between David and Clark.
