Chapter 6 – Zen meditation and scripture recitation room

Among the four people, Sima Mu was the most anxious. He took big strides up the stairs and pushed open the door of the meditation room.

"Someone's here after all!"

The meditation room was about half the size of a basketball court, with several cushions on the ground. A large incense table was placed on the north side facing the door, with a faceless Buddha statue inside.

There was also an inner room on the west side of the meditation room.

Lin Baici came over and scanned the room with his eyes, seeing fourteen people inside.

These people had vines tied around their necks, looking hopeless and not in the mood to speak. When they saw someone coming, they just glanced and lowered their heads.

"What's going on with this thing? Will it strangle people to death?"

Sima Mu roared.

No one answered.

"Damn it, are you deaf?"

Sima Mu clenched his sickle and wanted to attack.

"In the west chamber, there are delicious delicacies that you can't miss, otherwise you can delete your account and start over."

Gurgle!

Lin Baici's stomach was growling. He felt so hungry that he wanted to eat the door frame.

"Why didn't you tell us it was dangerous here?"

Xu Xiu complained. As long as these people reminded them, she felt that they could leave before being strangled by the vines.

A big-bellied man sneered at an old lady, "Why should we remind you?"

"You…"

The old lady was angry. Wasn't this harming others and benefiting oneself?

"Are you asking for a beating?"

Sima Mu, who didn't seem like a wounded person at all, was furious and wanted to beat someone up to let him know why the flowers were so red.

"Everyone, stop arguing. We should work together now and find a way to escape from here!"

A short girl spoke up.

She wore a blue pleated skirt on her lower body, a white short-sleeved shirt on her upper body, which was somewhat transparent, revealing the straps of her bra. She had a red tie around her chest and was wearing a pair of black round-toe leather shoes.

This was the popular sailor suit COS outfit.

Lin Baici frowned slightly, "Why does this girl look a bit familiar?"

"Yueyu, don't mind them!"

The one who spoke was a young woman with short hair, around twenty years old, with an average appearance. She was wearing jeans, white sneakers, and a hooded sun protection shirt.

"We can't just give up like this, can we?"

Hua Yueyu sighed. She was only nineteen years old, the most beautiful time of her life, and she didn't want to die.

"Are you Hua Yueyu from Shark Live?"

Lin Baici heard the girl with the white sneakers call her Yueyu and suddenly remembered.

He seemed to have seen this girl live streaming games on Shark Live.

"Yeah, are you my fan?"

Hua Yueyu tried to force a smile.

Hua Yueyu was currently the most popular first-line anchor on the live streaming platform Shark Live, mainly doing game strategies, house dances, singing, and occasionally outdoor exploration and other content.

At the same time, she was also a video blogger, posting videos on websites such as TikTok and Bilibili, with a total of five million fans.

"Oh, then you can watch more of my live streams in the future, which will definitely bring you some fun!"

Hua Yueyu took the opportunity to gain more fans, but she felt a little disheartened when she thought that she might not survive today.

Alas!

She would never have the chance to earn a billion and enjoy life after achieving financial freedom.

"What's the point of watching? We're all going to die today!"

The big-bellied man sneered."Do you know what's going on here?"

Lin Baici tugged at the vine noose around his neck.

"When the meteor fell, I passed out. When I woke up, I saw a group of people and followed them with Xiaoli Jie and Gu Ge to hide here!"

Hua Yueyu had a small round face and a cute little tiger tooth that showed on the left side of her mouth when she spoke. Xiaoli Jie was the short-haired young woman in white shoes, and Gu Ge sat beside her, not much older, with a Canon camera hanging from his chest, obviously Hua Yueyu's photographer.

"We rested for less than ten minutes and suddenly this unknown grass-woven noose appeared around our necks. We found out that when the noose tightened, we had to immediately enter that meditation room, or we would be strangled to death!"

This was the rule that Hua Yueyu had summarized.

"Can't we run?"

The old lady's voice trembled, still holding onto hope.

"No, as soon as we leave the courtyard gate, our necks will be immediately broken!"

Xiaoli Jie despairingly grabbed her hair. There was nothing more cruel than waiting to die.

"What's in the meditation room?"

Jin Yingzhen asked, "Has anyone come out?"

"I don't know!"

Hua Yueyu shook her head. "From the beginning until now, seven waves of ten people have gone in, but none have come out!"

"Are they all dead?"

Sima Mu's scalp was numb.

"Probably!"

Hua Yueyu was the calmest of them all, observing very carefully. She wore a GoPro sports camera around her collar, but unfortunately, in God's Ruins, no electronic devices could be used. Otherwise, she still wanted to see if there was any key information to escape.

"You said there were deaths outside? I didn't see any bodies!"

Lin Baici needed more information.

"Those who were strangled to death turned to dust and shattered in less than three minutes."

Xiaoli Jie interjected.

"Ah?"

Xu Xiu became more panicked and hugged Lin Baici's arm.

"Whatever happens in God's Ruins is not worth being surprised about!"

Sima Mu didn't care about those bodies. "The most urgent matter is how to get rid of this noose?"

"Kuishen, what do you think?"

Lin Baici asked inwardly.

【Hungry!】

This answer was completely inappropriate.

Lin Baici was about to ask Hua Yueyu for more information when a man wearing sunglasses like a rabbit with a stepped-on tail suddenly jumped up.

The old lady was startled and quickly hid behind Lin Baici.

"Their noose tightened!"

Hua Yueyu touched the noose around his neck, but it didn't tighten.

Phew!

Luck was good, they could live a little longer, but this should be the last chance to escape. If they couldn't think of a way, they had to enter the meditation room.

"Damn! Damn! Damn!"

The man with sunglasses cursed, but he had no choice. Running out meant certain death, and entering the meditation room might have a chance of survival.

Ten unlucky people were chosen and walked into the meditation room tremblingly.

Lin Baici was about to lean over to take a look when the door slammed shut.

"Hehe, we can live a few more minutes!"

The big-bellied man showed a self-deprecating smile, but he didn't want to die. He took the initiative to talk to Lin Baici, "Hey, do you have a way?"

He could tell that these newcomers regarded this handsome young man as their leader."No!"

Lin Baici walked to the Buddha niche, observing the faceless Buddha statue while pondering the possible crises they might encounter and the appropriate ways to respond.

Jin Yingzhen bravely walked to the door of the inner room and listened, but unfortunately couldn't hear anything.

"I've done everything you've done, and I haven't found anything!"

Hua Yueyu sat down, bent her legs, and hugged her knees, resting her chin on her knees.

Ah!

Everyone here is just an ordinary person trapped in the God's Ruins. I'm so stupid to expect them to be able to save us like divine beings!

Lin Baici carefully searched the room and was about to go to the courtyard when the collar around his neck suddenly tightened.

A pain spread from his neck, accompanied by a slight feeling of suffocation.

"Baici!"

The old woman cried again. She heard that when someone was strangled to death, their tongue would stick out a long way.

"It's our turn!"

Gu Ge stood up and touched the Canon camera on his chest, the first one to enter the inner room.

"Let's go, we have no choice!"

Hua Yueyu took a deep breath, tried to cheer up, and prepared to make a final struggle.

Lin Baici lifted his wrist and looked at the Rolex he had picked up.

Six minutes had passed since those people had entered.

"Baici, come into the meditation room!"

Sima Mu called out.

Jin Yingzhen and the old woman also came over early, feeling safer with Lin Baici.

The big-bellied man saw this and quickly ran over, following behind the four people.

The meditation room was not big, with no furnishings except for a meditation cushion on which a monk sat chanting. The cushion was a bit old, slightly yellowed, and there was a fist-sized incense burner on top of it with three incense sticks burning inside.

A strange scent permeated the air.

As soon as everyone entered, the vine collar around their necks immediately loosened.

"What do we do now?"

Everyone looked at each other, puzzled.

"Is this incense burner a divine taboo?"

Lin Baici stared at the incense burner, waiting for the Gourmet God to give a food critique, but there was no sound in his mind.

Creak!

The door closed automatically.

"Look!"

Jin Yingzhen called out anxiously.

The white smoke emitted by the burning incense turned into faint characters.

"Sitting cross-legged, listening to my chanting. Those who can remain as calm as ever will reach the other shore!"

The characters appeared for three seconds and then quickly dissipated.

"What does it mean?"

The big-bellied man was bewildered.

"It seems like we have to listen to the chanting?"

Hua Yueyu said and quickly sat down in a cross-legged position. The floor was a bit cold, making the female anchor shiver.

"Listen to chanting? Who understands that?"

The big-bellied man was desperate. He was just a vulgar person who liked to eat and bathe in a sauna every few days. He had no Buddha nature at all.

As soon as he finished speaking, the vine collar around his neck tightened again, frightening him into begging for mercy. "I'll listen, I'll listen. Please start chanting!"

Not only the big-bellied man, but also everyone else's vine collars tightened, causing them to feel suffocated.

"What's going on?"

Xiao Li was panicking.

"Quick, sit down and cross your legs!"

Lin Baici saw that Hua Yueyu was okay and understood what was going on. Everyone had to follow the instructions of the incense characters to escape death.

"What is sitting cross-legged?"

(Note: sitting cross-legged, which is a traditional sitting position used in meditation, also known as the "lotus position".)The big-bellied man sat on the ground with crossed legs, but he found the noose was still tightening, which made him anxious to the point of spitting blood: "Who knows how to do this?"

"It's like this. First, put your left foot on your right thigh, and then put your right foot on your left thigh!"

Hua Yueyu demonstrated.

For the sake of beauty, she relied on her face to make a living and had learned yoga and meditation and understood this type of content.

"Baici, follow me!"

Xu Xiu also understood, but she had been tricked by a fitness coach and spent six thousand yuan to learn only a few poses in three months.

But now she could help Lin Baici, and Auntie suddenly felt that six thousand yuan was worth it.

I finally have some use!

Xu Xiu was worried that she would be too cumbersome and be abandoned by Lin Baici, but she only had a few seconds of happiness before she saw that Lin Baici could also sit cross-legged.

"Oppa, can you do it?"

Jin Yingzhen could also do it. She looked at Lin Baici worriedly and even planned to help him herself.

"No problem!"

Lin Baici had read many miscellaneous books and had a broad range of knowledge.

The big-bellied man finally sat cross-legged, and the noose around his neck loosened. However, before he could remember to breathe a sigh of relief, the sound of chanting began to echo in the meditation room.
