Chapter 16 – Curse Buddha Infant

The tourists all looked up at the dark Buddha.

“Hmph!”

The dark Buddha snorted, clearly feeling that being stared at was disrespectful.

Many tourists shuddered and quickly lowered their heads.

Lin Baici didn’t look away.

The dark Buddha propped his chin on his hand and gave Lin Baici a playful look before closing his eyes.

“What does this mean?”

The old lady was anxious and wanted a definite answer on whether they would survive.

“It must mean that we’ve successfully paid our respects to the Buddha. Didn’t you see that it didn’t spit out any sparks anymore?” Sima Mu breathed a sigh of relief.

“Can we leave now?” Xiao Li didn’t want to stay here any longer, it was too dangerous.

“We probably can’t!” Hua Yueyu thought with her toes, knowing that the trouble wasn’t over yet.

The tourists whispered amongst themselves, some wanted to leave, but no one wanted to be the first one to do so.

“Thanks to you just now, I owe you a favor. And when we get out of here, I’ll immediately wire 10 million to you!” Jiang Hong was a shrewd person.

He emphasized the words “favor,” “10 million,” and “immediately” to both praise Lin Baici and hook him with money.

This big man was calm, wise, decisive, and most importantly, kind in the face of a life-threatening crisis, making him easy to manipulate.

Jiang Hong understood that his chances of survival depended on this big man, so he had to first win him over and strengthen their relationship.

“This Buddha suddenly closed its eyes, who knows what it means. How about we choose a few people to try and see if they can leave this hall?” Jiang Hong suggested.

“Who should we choose?” Sima Mu looked at this real estate businessman.

Slightly chubby, with a big belly and a shrewd look all over his face.

“After the crisis just now, you saved everyone’s lives. They will definitely listen to you. Whoever you choose, they won’t object.” Jiang Hong faced Lin Baici with a humble attitude, praising him highly.

“Oppa, don’t listen to him, he’s just using you as a pawn!” Jin Yingzhen thought this guy was despicable.

The people chosen would be cannon fodder. If they died after leaving the hall, it could be said that Lin Baici had sent them to their deaths.

Even if they were lucky enough to survive, they would never trust Lin Baici again.

“I don’t mean that!” Jiang Hong lowered his voice. “I’ve heard about the horrors of God’s Ruins. Since there are no divine hunters here, if we want to survive and avoid being contaminated by the rules, we have to use human lives to test the waters!”

“I’ll say something harsh. Although you saved them, many people here will still die in this God’s Ruins. Instead of dying in vain, we might as well use them as stepping stones.”

“Don’t worry, when it’s time to get our hands dirty, I’ll be with you!” Jiang Hong finished speaking and patted Lin Baici on the shoulder.

Hua Yueyu looked at Jiang Hong in shock.

This person had a cruel heart.

Sima Mu didn’t say anything, he just glanced at Lin Baici to observe his attitude, because Jiang Hong’s suggestion was the best option at the moment.”Survival of the fittest is the law of this world. Besides, you have already saved these people once. Isn’t it more valuable to use their lives for something?” Jiang Hong instigated.

The sparks that the dark Buddha statue had sprayed from its nose had killed about three hundred people in four batches. The five hundred people who were still alive were all saved by Lin Baici.

The old aunt felt that Jiang Hong had a point. After all, these people owed Lin Baici their lives.

“If you become the leader, although some people will die, some will still survive. If you don’t become the leader, then these people will undoubtedly die!” Jiang Hong didn’t say a word, but as a trusted person of the leader, his chances of survival were naturally greater.

“Jiang boss, everyone’s life is their own. They can make their own decisions about how to use it. I don’t care!” Lin Baici stared at Jiang Hong. “Also, don’t try to influence my judgment with words. I’m not that stupid!”

Jiang Hong smiled awkwardly, feeling worried.

This kid is not easy to fool!

It’s a pity that he can’t drink, otherwise, after five bottles of Maotai, I could make him kneel down and call me daddy!

“Oppa, look!”

Jin Yingzhen pulled Lin Baici’s jersey.

An old lady in her sixties, probably frightened, stumbled towards the red wooden gate, trying to escape from this place.

She stepped over the one-and-a-half-foot threshold and headed straight for the steps.

Just when everyone thought it was safe to leave, a semi-transparent Buddha palm suddenly fell from the sky, as if swatting a mosquito, and slapped her onto the floor.

Bang!

When the Buddha palm disappeared, it left behind a pool of flesh and blood.

“Indeed, we can’t leave the hall!”

Every tourist felt both lucky that they didn’t recklessly try to escape and helpless.

What should we do next?

Everyone subconsciously looked at the student who had just helped them through the crisis.

But the next moment, they looked horrified and took a step back in unison.

“What’s wrong?”

Lin Baici frowned. What’s the meaning of this?

Why does his shoulder feel heavy?

“Oppa, on your right shoulder…”

Jin Yingzhen was startled.

“What’s wrong with my shoulder?”

Lin Baici turned his head and looked at his right shoulder. A pair of black eyes met his gaze.

“Oh my god!”

Lin Baici was shocked.

What is this?

On his shoulder, there was a black Buddha statue the size of a baby, staring at him expressionlessly.

“Ah, Yingzhen, you have it on your shoulder too!”

Hua Yueyu shivered and quickly looked around, finding that many people had these Buddha babies on their shoulders.

These Buddha babies were naked, with black skin like tar, and emitted a foul smell.

“What is this?”

Jiang Hong reached out to grab the Buddha baby lying on his shoulder, wanting to tear it off and throw it away.

The Buddha baby opened its small mouth, revealing black teeth, and bit down hard on his wrist like a wild dog.

“Ah!”

Jiang Hong cried out in pain.In just a few seconds, these Buddha infants climbed onto the tourists’ shoulders like ghosts, silently and without exception.

Hua Yueyu wanted to vomit and instinctively reached out to get rid of the ghostly thing.

Snap!

Lin Baici grabbed her wrist.

“Don’t touch that thing on your shoulder!”

Lin Baici shouted, his voice echoing in the temple.

Some people listened, but some didn’t. After all, who wouldn’t be scared when possessed by such a thing?

“Auntie, Xiaoli, don’t touch it, this thing will grow!”

Lin Baici persuaded.

The rule contamination had begun again, and it was impossible to remove the ghostly thing by hand.

“Grow?”

Jin Yingzhen finally realized that the Buddha infant on Jiang Hong, the old aunt, and Xiaoli’s shoulders was obviously one size bigger than the ones on Lin Baici, Hua Yueyu, and Sima Mu’s shoulders.

“You mean, this thing gets bigger the more you touch it?”

“It should be!”

Lin Baici estimated that when the Buddha infant grew to a certain extent, the players’ death would come.

In the hall, there was chaos and crying. Although someone had been burned to death just now, it hadn’t happened to them yet, so everyone was scared but not panicked. But now, everyone had a Buddha infant on their shoulders, which meant they could die at any moment.

“Handsome guy, what should we do now?”

“Don’t let anyone touch it, do you know what it is?”

“Wuwuwu, I don’t want to die, I haven’t had enough of life!”

The tourists crowded around Lin Baici, seeking his help.

“Stop making noise, be quiet first!”

Lin Baici shouted several times before calming everyone down a bit. “I found something crucial on the mural just now. Everyone go and search the hall again, see if there is any important information we missed!”

Everyone immediately turned to the murals on the wall, staring at them like playing a matching game, looking for clues.

“Oil lamps!”

Hua Yueyu suddenly exclaimed as if she had discovered a new continent. “There is an oil lamp next to each person on the mural!”

Lin Baici saw it too.

“What are we waiting for? Let’s go get them!”

Sima Mu urged.

Behind the Buddha’s altar on both sides of the hall, there were rows of purple-painted wooden frames, each with a row of unlit bronze oil lamps.

Lin Baici ran to the wooden frame but didn’t immediately take one.

He wanted to observe whether these oil lamps were different.

“They all seem the same?”

Jin Yingzhen didn’t take one either, but the old aunt and Xiaoli were not cautious enough and grabbed one first.

“Well, they should be the same!”

Lin Baici picked one up.

These oil lamps had the same shape, with a tray at the bottom, a lotus bud the size of an apple on top, and a closed bud shape.

There was no lamp oil in the bud, only a chopstick-sized wick.

Lin Baici had performed well just now and was the hero who helped everyone survive, so everyone was watching his every move.

Now that they saw him take an oil lamp, they all hurriedly ran towards the purple-painted wooden frame, regardless of whether it was useful or not, just to take one.”This is what I saw first!”

“Why are you fighting over it? Aren’t they all the same?”

“Damn it, who pushed me?”

The tourists were in conflict over the oil lamps, arguing and cursing. If it weren’t for the Buddha statue on their backs, someone with a hot temper would have started a fight on the spot.

The old lady held the oil lamp in her hands and asked hopefully, “Has the ghostly thing on my back disappeared?”

“No!”

Little Li was disappointed. It seemed to have nothing to do with the oil lamp.

Others also found that the Buddha statue on their backs did not disappear after getting the oil lamp.

“The oil lamps of these people in the murals are all lit!”

Hua Yueyu shouted, “Everyone light the wick and see!”

Not only Hua Yueyu, but others also noticed this.

Jiang Hong and Sima Mu both had lighters, but after taking them out, they did not light the wick.

Jin Yingzhen glanced at Lin Baici.

She remembered that the two of them offered incense money and escaped from the hands of the merit Buddha, only to encounter a pile of corpses, and Lin Baici picked up a lot of things, including several lighters. Why didn’t he take them out?
