Chapter 97 – The Amazon tribe submits

Bang bang bang!

The deafening sound of gunfire.

In the sunlight, the figure seemed to have a body made of steel, and the bullets hitting him bounced off, not even able to pierce his clothes.

The sound echoed between the walls and the ground, forming a clear picture in Clark’s mind. He smiled, showing his white teeth, and looked at the few robbers.

“Gentlemen, I have a good proposal for you. Don’t waste any more bullets, put down your guns and surrender. This way, I can also prevent you from getting hurt.”

Several robbers wearing animal masks were shocked and stunned, rubbing their eyes hard, doubting if they were seeing an illusion. How else could the bullets that left craters in the concrete fail to pierce his clothes?

“What is this? Am I having a hallucination?”

“Are we being haunted in broad daylight?”

“Shut up. Weirdo, you try this.”

The leader with a monkey face turned and scolded angrily, trying to appear calm and showing a fierce look, lifting an RPG to shoot at the figure that looked like a monster.

Hiss!

The rocket with a white tail flew towards Clark.

Clark’s ears twitched, and he dodged, reaching out to grab the rocket without minding the hot temperature. The rocket struggled like a bird caught by someone, continuously spewing fuel from its tail but unable to escape.

Within the range of the missile behind him was an office building. Clark redirected the rocket to fly into the sky to prevent it from falling vertically and exploding, injuring civilians. Clark’s eyes emitted a heat vision, detonating the rocket, and then he looked back at the group of criminals.

“Monster!”

Someone’s eyes emitted a laser, leaving several robbers stunned and scared, rolling away in fear.

Clark flashed, knocking down the robbers and rescuing the unconscious female police officer. He tied up the captured robbers with a rope and made sure the policewoman was unharmed.

He breathed deeply, smiling. It felt good to use his powers to help those in need while hiding his identity as a vigilante fighting crime.

He turned and looked at the rising sun.

With a determined look in his eyes, Clark leaped towards the distance, hearing the call for help from others.

Click!

A shutter sound came from below the city streets.

He instinctively looked in the direction of the shutter, but his eyes were blind.

He could only hear two people standing together, one with a slightly strong heartbeat and male breathing, and the other with a slightly slower heartbeat, indicating a female.

Hmm, this female seemed to have a tall figure. From the level of her breathing, she was at least 1.7 meters tall.

Like a bird effortlessly leaping between the buildings, Clark hurried towards the distance.

“What is this, Louise?”

In the editor-in-chief’s office of the Daily Planet, the middle-aged editor, Mr. White, put down his coffee cup and looked at the photo in his hand, stunned for a moment.

A figure leaped between the high-rise buildings, casting a large shadow in the golden sunlight, with a red cape fluttering behind.

“My discovery and the upcoming follow-up report.”

In front of the desk, a stylish urban woman, confident and assertive, exuding a professional and sharp attack, habitually sharp as a reporter.

She was Louise Lane, a well-known journalist who had won several awards in the news industry in just a few years.

“No matter where you got this insider information, there’s nothing worth digging into. It’s just a photoshopped picture.”

Putting down the photo, Editor White shook his head at the serious-looking female reporter.

“Jimmy took this photo, and I was there at the time.”

“Alright, maybe it’s just a daring young man seeking thrills using a springboard to leap between the high-rise buildings. I think this should be a concern for the community police, not for you, my top reporter. Give me something more sensational.”

Picking up the photo and looking at it again, Editor White seemed a little dissatisfied. Every article Louise Lane had given him in the past had always boosted the weekly sales of the Daily Planet.

“This isn’t the first time, White.”

Louise crossed her arms, shaking her head.

“Multiple people have witnessed a mysterious metahuman in the central and western parts of Kansas. I’ve decided to make it the focus of my follow-up report for the next period.”

“All of those are just baseless rumors.”

Editor White wanted to remind Louise that the authenticity of the news was paramount, and reports should not be based on speculation.

“But now there is evidence.”

She pulled out a stack of photos and placed them on the table.

Traces of gunfire, flattened bullet casings, and rocket fragments falling from the sky.

According to more than one witness, this person was on the roof of the courthouse, facing several armed criminals, and prevented a kidnapping and even a murder. With a body as strong as steel, he could easily leap dozens of meters high and move as fast as the wind…

A powerful metahuman roaming and fighting crime in Metropolis, and most importantly, not wearing a mask. Looking at the half-profile face in the initial photo, Louise’s eyes lit up with excitement. Her reporter’s instincts told her that this would be a big news story, and this person would soon become the most famous person in the city. And she would soon get the first-hand report from this superhero.

“Raise your legs higher, yes, even higher.”

In the ancient hall on Themyscira, elegant and melodious music played.

David sat in the hall, propping up his chin, watching with interest as the Amazonian warriors, who were usually skilled in archery and swordsmanship, wore ballet skirts and tried to perform swan-like movements on the big screen that shouldn’t have appeared on this ancient island.

But these swans, accustomed to wielding bows and swords, were undoubtedly a bit clumsy.

When David and Diana returned to Themyscira, Hippolyta had a bad feeling. When Diana claimed to have seen David kill the God of War, Ares, shock and uproar spread throughout the Amazon tribe.

“That outsider actually accomplished the feat of killing a god. Is this really true, Princess?”Among the swans clad in white dance dresses, a tall and beautiful figure stood out like a crane among chickens, drawing everyone’s attention. It was Diana, the lead dancer chosen by David, the man destined to be king of the Amazons.

Diana’s face showed discomfort, wearing clothes that made her feel ashamed, she tried her best to perform unfamiliar elegant movements, a look of helplessness flashing in her eyes.

Since her return to Paradise Island, she had heard such incredulous whispers countless times. Another tribe member approached her under the guise of practicing dance, inquiring about this very matter.

“It’s true.”

Diana could only respond, looking towards the man seated on the throne who had completed an inconceivable challenge.

No one among the Amazon tribe could believe that a human could slay a deity, especially her mother, Hippolyta, who looked at David with skeptical eyes, even suggesting the use of the Lasso of Truth to verify if her daughter was under any control.

But to everyone’s surprise, what Diana said was true.

“Will the Amazon tribe, with a legacy of tens of thousands of years, choose to break their word and be erased from the world by me?

Or will they keep their promise and acknowledge me as their king?”

As David took his place on the throne, his gaze deep and overlooking the crowd, he presented the Amazons with their final choice.
