Chapter 1 – Red and Gold

It was the rainy season, and the drizzle was falling.

Yin Jian, with a hint of sadness, went to attend the funeral of his roommate who died suddenly in the middle of the night.

But when he was passing the zebra crossing.

A heavy truck, whether intentionally or accidentally, suddenly entered his field of vision and came towards him.

“I’m probably going to die.”

In fear, Yin Jian felt that time seemed to slow down.

His entire field of vision was first filled with the front of the car, then there was a whirlwind, and finally he fell into endless darkness.

*

Saiga, the new century of 2077.

(The five empires, Skyrealm Empire, Mechanar Empire, Naturia Empire, Beasthaven Empire, and Divinia Empire… Many empires signed a non-aggression agreement, establishing the High Council of Nations, and Saiga Planet entered a new era of surface peace, using this as the calendar year.)

Buzz… Buzz… Buzz…

When Yin Jian regained consciousness and the darkness in his field of vision gradually dissipated, he felt that his brain was fuzzy and his consciousness still retained the intense pain of being crushed to pieces, as well as the sound of a heavy truck roaring towards him.

His vision was filled with distorted and chaotic images, and his ears seemed to be filled with countless overlapping noises.

As time passed, they gradually dissipated.

Yin Jian’s consciousness slowly became clear.

“I… I’m not dead?”

Yin Jian thought with a bit of confusion.

At the same time, the ground trembled slightly, as if something huge had moved.

Along with the tremor, Yin Jian heard a heavy and rough breathing.

With the breathing came a moist and slightly scorching breath, mixed with some bright sparks, which sprayed onto Yin Jian’s body from the side.

Feeling this breath, he still turned his head in confusion.

The next second, a pair of vertical red pupils appeared in Yin Jian’s eyes.

In addition, there were crisscrossing fangs and a pair of majestic and winding dragon horns…

Hiss!

Like being splashed with cold water in winter, Yin Jian suddenly shivered, took a breath of cold air, and his heart almost stopped.

A terrifying and horrifying red dragon appeared in Yin Jian’s real field of vision.

The red dragon was over thirty meters long, like a standing red hill, with a ferocious appearance.

Its two pupils were like hot lava balls, and its tightly arranged deep red dragon scales resembled gems, like clusters of burning flames, emitting a faint luster. Many layers of dragon scales were closely interlocked, exuding a strong smell of sulfur, revealing an indestructible defense.

Sparks sprayed out from the red dragon’s nostrils and gaps between its fangs.

Its breath was so real, and each red scale was so lifelike. Up close, the overwhelming pressure almost felt substantial, engulfing Yin Jian.

The red dragon stared silently at Yin Jian, as if waiting for something.

Yin Jian felt fear in his heart and subconsciously moved his claws, taking a few steps back, and at the same time, he crushed something with a crackling sound.

Huh?

Claws?

Yin Jian was slightly stunned.

He lowered his head and saw a pair of dragon claws enveloped in shining scales, which entered his field of vision.

“This…”

Before Yin Jian could think too much, a large amount of information suddenly burst forth from his mind, rushing towards his consciousness like waves.

His eyes instantly became blank and confused.

“You are the Golden Dragon, the leader of the Metal Dragons, the leader of the benevolent dragons…”

This first piece of information disappeared in an instant, incomplete. More complete information poured into Yin Jian’s mind.

“You are the Red Dragon, the leader of the Five-Colored Dragons, the leader of the evil dragons, the most powerful race in the endless worlds of the multiverse.”

“Since your birth, you have been destined to become a king. The world awaits your rule, and all races await your enslavement.”

“………………”

“In front of you, all existence will bow down, either out of fear or loyalty.”

“The creatures of the mortal world should obey your orders. The only meaning of the existence of all living beings is to please you and serve you as king. Otherwise, they should not exist.”

“………………”

A tide of information surged into Yin Jian’s mind, constantly washing over his soul, merging with his existing knowledge, gradually forming a unique worldview.

Looking back at the red dragon in his field of vision, Yin Jian’s eyes returned to normal from the blank confusion.

He gradually understood everything. At this moment, he was no longer human.

He had turned into a dragon.

The red dragon in front of him was his dragon mother, the leader of the five-colored dragons, the Red Dragoness.

The Red Dragoness stared at Yin Jian intently.

Under her gaze, Yin Jian quickly opened his dragon mouth and spoke in a deep tone, using a language that took a long time to say, “Saga Gatangea Atokes Diabolos Nyxes Tangliane … Alzhus!”

The long string of names he spoke was his true dragon name.

Dragon names are often very long.

There is a widely circulated story related to dragon names.

A senior thief, after going through countless hardships and sacrificing an arm and a leg, finally sneaked into the nest of an adult dragon and stole a book called “The Book of Dragons,” which was rumored to record the true power of true dragons. When he eagerly brought the “Book of Dragons” to a caster who could speak Dragon Tongue, he was shocked to find that the entire book was just the dragon’s own name recorded when it was bored.

At the end of the “Book of Dragons,” the dragon wrote in a mocking tone that the rumors about the book were intentionally spread by itself for amusement. The thief, upon learning the truth, was so enraged that he died on the spot.

But let’s get back to the main story.

As for the information just now, it is called the Dragon’s Inheritance, which is the certification of a true dragon’s identity and the power that allows hatchling dragons to be born with knowledge of the dragon race.

All true dragons receive the Dragon’s Inheritance as soon as they are born, and then they speak their true names to prove that they are true dragons with intelligence who have received the Dragon’s Inheritance, rather than mindless dragon beasts.

If they cannot speak their true names, they will be abandoned by their dragon mother.

Without the protection of a dragon mother, hatchling dragons cannot survive for long in this dangerous world.

All true dragons are magical creatures with intelligence and are at the top of the food chain. They are naturally able to speak Dragon Tongue and the common language of the continent.

As for dragon beasts… they are actually true dragons who have failed to receive the Dragon’s Inheritance and have had their minds burned, or they are unfortunate creatures that have undergone malignant mutations.

“Saga Gatangea Atokes Diabolos Nyxes Tangliane … Alzhus.”

He silently repeated his true name in his heart, feeling a complex mood.

“Yin Jian… Since I have transformed into a dragon, this name is no longer suitable for me.”

“From now on, I shall be called Saga, the true dragon Saga.”

“In the new century of Saiga in the year 2077… I, Saga Alzhus, will embrace a new dragon life, whether it be good or bad, with the body of a true dragon.”

The Dragon’s Inheritance is the understanding of the world, self-awareness, and knowledge of battle and survival carefully selected by the progenitor true dragon, passed down from generation to generation.

The content of the inheritance is incredibly vast, like an endless sea.

Compared to that, Saga’s experiences as a human for over twenty years are like grains of sand in a river. Even before receiving the inheritance, he already had independent values, and although the Dragon’s Inheritance was not all poured into his mind at once, he was inevitably greatly influenced.

In fact, Saga is not sure whether it was the person named Yin Jian who received the dragon’s inheritance and occupied the true dragon’s body, or if it was the soul of the hatchling dragon named Saga that devoured the will of the person and gained their memories, or if it was a fusion of the two, inseparable from each other.

But all of this is not important to Saga. He is good at putting unclear things out of his mind, and as he grows, time will naturally give him the answers.

“However, there was a fleeting message in my inheritance.”

“It seems to be saying that I am a Golden Dragon.”

“Could it be because my dragon father is a Golden Dragon? Or is there a faint trace of Golden Dragon blood in my ancestry?”

There was no mention of Saga’s dragon father in the Dragon’s Nest, he only saw the Red Dragoness.

In the inheritance he just received, there was also no information about Saga’s dragon father.

“But the Golden Dragon inheritance only had this one sentence… the rest was all Red Dragon inheritance.”

“I should be… Red… Huh? Something’s not right.”

Saga recalled the inheritance he received and, with the help of some translucent firestone embedded in the Dragon’s Nest, saw his own appearance and couldn’t help but be astonished. The newly born Hatchling Dragon had a somewhat large head, a short neck, and equally short dragon wings. His round and chubby body appeared a bit stout. On his head were three pairs of tender, small, and pointed dragon horns, which, although not yet fully grown, already looked quite peculiar. This was because most dragons only had one pair of horns, and the lowest-ranked among the five-colored dragons, the White Dragon, didn’t even have horns.

The Hatchling Dragon flapped his little wings vigorously and hopped around, but he couldn’t manage to fly. He could only hover a few inches off the ground.

Compared to the robust and majestic Red Dragoness, the newly born Hatchling Dragon looked a bit cute. His appearance was very adorable, and every move he made was endearingly clumsy.

However, what made Saga feel uneasy was the color of his scales.

Little Saga’s scales were not the fiery red of the Red Dragon, but rather, they were a dazzling, brilliant golden color.

“Why am I golden?”

“Am I a Red Dragon or a Golden Dragon?”

“Do I really have Golden Dragon ancestors?”

“No, the scales of a Golden Dragon are not like mine.”

Saga pondered deeply.

The Hatchling Dragon’s body was covered in tiny, diamond-like golden scales that fit tightly together, completely different from the usual Red Dragon scale pattern. On the faceplate covered in fine scales, there were a pair of golden pupils, like the eyes of a Golden Dragon, bursting with dazzling brilliance. They were like burning golden flames, impossible to ignore, adding a touch of majesty to the adorable Hatchling Dragon.

To describe it in detail…

Saga’s body looked like a Red Dragon draped in a shining armor of golden, diamond-like scales.

The golden scales made Saga look like a Golden Dragon, but the scales of a Golden Dragon were irregularly shaped and round, more like fish scales.

Saga’s dragon scales, however, seemed to be composed of countless tiny irregular polyhedrons combined together, unique and unprecedented. Each dragon scale seemed to have countless irregular, asymmetrical facets fitting together inside, their appearance and texture like beautiful, dreamy diamonds. They refracted light, bright and dazzling, shining with a brilliant golden luster.
