Chapter 37 – The girl who won the god

The Deities’ Mental Hospital.

In the spacious and tidy courtyard, Nyx sat on a rocking chair, holding a vase and lost in thought.

A young boy in a white coat walked through the corridor, carrying a few bottles of medicine, and approached her.

“You came to see me, Danaus, my child,” Nyx turned her head to Lin Qiye and smiled.

Lin Qiye sat down beside her and nodded.

“It’s time to take your medicine.”

He poured out the medicine from the bottle, carefully dividing it into small piles and placing them in Nyx’s hands.

“Be a good girl and take the medicine first.”

Without hesitation, Nyx swallowed the medicine in her hand and then looked at Lin Qiye with affectionate eyes.

“Danaus, it seems like you have something on your mind.”

Lin Qiye was taken aback. He didn’t expect Nyx, a mentally ill patient, to see through his state at a glance. After hesitating for a moment, he nodded.

“I guess so.”

“Is there anything I can do to help you?”

“Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do to help me,” Lin Qiye shook his head.

Running away from home and suffering alone, how could an outsider help?

Nyx felt a little disappointed. Then, she seemed to think of something and said:

“Since that’s the case, Danaus, I’ll give you a gift.”

“A gift?” Lin Qiye was surprised.

“Yes, I’ll give you my bracelet. You can wear it from now on, and then…” Nyx reached out and touched her own wrist…

Touched it again.

She looked down at her bare wrist. Where was the bracelet?

“My bracelet… Where is my bracelet?”

Lin Qiye: …

Indeed, Nyx’s condition was not light!

Nyx tilted her head, furrowing her brows, seemingly lost in thought.

Just as Lin Qiye was about to get up and leave, Nyx suddenly spoke up, “I remember now.”

“What do you remember?”

“My bracelet was taken away by someone.”

“Taken away?” Lin Qiye was surprised. After thinking for a moment, he realized that he hadn’t heard any stories about a bracelet in any mythology. “Which god took it?”

“It wasn’t a god,” Nyx shook her head and pointed at Lin Qiye, “She is just like you.”

“Just like me… is she also your child?” Lin Qiye tried to think from Nyx’s perspective.

“No, she is just like you, wearing this white coat,” Nyx said.

Lin Qiye’s pupils contracted, and his brows furrowed tightly.

“Are you saying that before me, someone wearing this coat came into your room and took your bracelet?”

Nyx nodded.

Lin Qiye’s expression became more serious.

Unintentionally, he had obtained such important information from Nyx’s words.

From her description, it seemed that before he knocked on the door of this mental hospital and released Nyx, someone else had been here and opened Nyx’s door!

He… was not the only owner here?

But this hospital was clearly in his mind. How could someone else come in?

Lin Qiye suddenly remembered that the first time he dreamed about knocking on the door of the mental hospital was five years ago…

Five years ago, it appeared so abruptly, mysteriously, in his dream.

Could it be… before he dreamed of the hospital, there was someone else here?

Thinking of this, Lin Qiye immediately sat back down and solemnly said, “How did she take your bracelet?”

Nyx recalled for a while and said, “She said she wanted to compete with me. If I won, she would return my child to me. If I lost, I had to give her my bracelet.”

“What did you compete in?”

Nyx slowly uttered two words, “Creation.”

“Creation? You lost in the end? How is that possible?” Lin Qiye was astonished. “You are the Goddess of the Night, one of the five deities who created the world. How could you lose to someone else?”

“I don’t know, but I did lose,” Nyx shook her head.

“Do you remember what she looked like?”

“I do. She seemed to be around twelve or thirteen years old, with long black hair and a strange pattern here.” Nyx pointed to the back of her hand.

“A twelve or thirteen-year-old girl defeated you in creation?” Lin Qiye’s eyes widened. “Even if your divinity is damaged now, it’s still unlikely, right?”

Nyx sat there, seemingly lost in memories.

Lin Qiye calmed himself down and continued to ask, “What else do you remember about her? Her name?”

“I don’t know… I only know that her surname seems to be… Ji?” Nyx said uncertainly.

“Ji…” Lin Qiye muttered the name.

“In the end, before I returned to the room, she went that way.” Nyx thought for a moment and pointed to a room on the third floor.

“I understand. Rest well.” Lin Qiye looked up at the room, gave a reminder, and turned to run towards the corridor.

After a while, Lin Qiye arrived in front of the room pointed out by Nyx.

On the doorplate were three big characters.

– Office of the Dean.

Lin Qiye furrowed his brows slightly and pushed the door open.

Behind the door was a not-too-big office, which looked somewhat messy.

He had been in this room before. He had taken this white coat from the hanger inside. But when he came in before, he didn’t seem to find anything.

Since Nyx said that the girl had entered this room, it was very likely that she had left behind some important clues.

This time, he would thoroughly search this place!

Instead of rummaging through everything, he sat down in place, closed his eyes slowly.Relying on the Divine Ruin given to him by the Seraph, he could easily sense everything in the room, which was much more efficient than rummaging through boxes and cabinets.

A few seconds later, he abruptly opened his eyes.

He stood up and walked to the desk, reaching into the interlayer of the last drawer. After a bit of fumbling, he pulled out a somewhat yellowed letter.

There really is one!

Lin Qiye quickly opened the envelope and took out the letter, his expression suddenly becoming a bit strange.

Hiss… this handwriting, it’s a bit ugly!

It was crooked and twisted, just like a primary school student just learning to write.

“To someone:

I don’t know who you are, but I know that you are the real owner here.

By the time you find this letter, several years should have passed. Don’t laugh at my ugly handwriting, after all, I’m still young, it will get better when I grow up.

I’m sorry for forcibly keeping your hospital here for a while, but since it has now returned to its rightful owner, don’t blame me! (Tongue-out doodle)

Also, I borrowed some things from a few of your patients. When I find you again, I will return them to you, don’t worry!

Lastly, let me remind you, there is another place under this office~

When I grow up, I will come to find you, stranger, after all, you are my hope of returning home.

Bye~

—Memorial”
