Chapter 32 – Ten Heroes of the Northern Wilderness, Wu Junyan

Chen Qingyuan walked to the front of the flying boat and saw the appearance of the person who had arrived. His expression changed slightly: “It’s you.”

The person was wearing a purple brocade robe, eight feet tall, with long hair tied up, and had an extraordinary and heroic appearance.

“I heard that you are still alive, come and take a look.”

His name was Wu Junyan, the number one evildoer in the Northern Star Domain.

Wu Junyan also had another identity, one of the Ten Heroes of the Northern Wilderness.

“After looking, it’s time to make way!”

Chen Qingyuan gestured for Wu Junyan to clear the way and not block the path.

Among the peers in the nearby star domains, only Chen Qingyuan dared to speak to Wu Junyan in this way. If it were someone else, Wu Junyan would have definitely suppressed them without hesitation.

“Back then, we made a promise to have a battle, but you broke your word.”

As one of the Ten Heroes of the Northern Wilderness, Wu Junyan wanted to determine who was superior between him and Chen Qingyuan. A hundred years ago, the two of them met, had a few drinks, and had some conversation.

When they parted, Wu Junyan requested a battle.

To get rid of Wu Junyan, Chen Qingyuan casually set a time to dismiss him.

“Brother, I almost lost my life back then. How could I fulfill the agreement to battle with you?”

Little did he know, Chen Qingyuan soon encountered trouble in the Sky Abyss, and their battle agreement naturally became void.

“A promise is worth a thousand pieces of gold. As long as you’re not dead, you must fulfill it no matter what happens. You didn’t show up back then, so that’s your problem.”

Wu Junyan placed great importance on promises, even more so than his own life.

“Why are you being unreasonable?” Chen Qingyuan complained.

“I can understand you, but you have to fulfill the battle agreement from back then. You can’t make me wait for so many years in vain.”

Wu Junyan’s expression was cold, as if someone owed him money.

“I just had my spiritual root treated by the Ghost Doctor, and now you want to bully me?” Chen Qingyuan said impatiently. “Fine, I admit defeat, okay?”

“No.” Wu Junyan shook his head. “I won’t bully you. I must have a fair battle with you.”

“There’s not so much fairness in this world,” Chen Qingyuan said.

“You choose a time, and I will suppress my realm to battle with you.”

The battle agreement from a hundred years ago had always been on Wu Junyan’s mind. If he didn’t determine the outcome with Chen Qingyuan, it would definitely turn into a mental demon over time.

“Is it necessary?” Chen Qingyuan couldn’t understand Wu Junyan’s way of thinking. What’s the point of all this?

“Yes.” Wu Junyan spoke sparingly, nodding slowly.

“A battle at the same realm. If you win, it’s fine. But if you lose, it’s very embarrassing! Listen to me, the battle agreement from back then has passed. Let’s not dwell on it, okay?”

Chen Qingyuan advised.

“A promise is not a joke.”

Wu Junyan snorted lightly, his gaze sharp. “Those who violate their promises deserve death.”

With that, Wu Junyan’s breath locked onto Chen Qingyuan.

With the conversation reaching this point, Chen Qingyuan didn’t dare to refuse. He quickly said, “Okay, it’s up to you.”

“Good.” Wu Junyan nodded in satisfaction. “When is the next battle?”

“Ten years from now, how does that sound to you?” Chen Qingyuan said.

Originally, Chen Qingyuan planned to say a hundred years, but he thought that would make Wu Junyan think too much. Ten years would buy him some time!

“Okay.” After considering it, Wu Junyan agreed with a nod. “When the time comes, I will come looking for you.”

“You’re really stubborn,” Chen Qingyuan said helplessly.

It’s just a battle agreement, why make it so serious?

“You don’t understand,” Wu Junyan said, standing by his principles, which ordinary people wouldn’t understand.

“Indeed,” Chen Qingyuan sighed lightly and took out two pots of good wine, gesturing, “Do you want to come in for a drink?”

“Sure.” Wu Junyan didn’t stand on ceremony and walked directly into the flying boat.

The two of them faced each other and drank, chatting about past events.

Suddenly, Wu Junyan brought up the matter of Chen Qingyuan being dumped, speaking frankly: “I heard you were dumped.”

“…” Chen Qingyuan had been annoyed by people mentioning this recently, it was like adding fuel to the fire. “It’s none of your business.”

“Just asking.” Wu Junyan’s personality was cold and aloof, as if he had never had a deep relationship with anyone.

First, his personality made it difficult for people to get along with him; second, he was one of the Ten Heroes of the Northern Wilderness, so ordinary geniuses had no qualifications to sit on an equal footing with him, let alone be friends.

“She will regret it,” Wu Junyan referred to Bai Xixue, who had abandoned Chen Qingyuan.

“I have lost the charm I had back then, what is there for her to regret?” Chen Qingyuan laughed at himself.

“No.” Although Wu Junyan couldn’t see the Dao Bone in Chen Qingyuan’s body, with the perception that an evildoer should have, he could be certain and said, “In my opinion, you just went down the mountain for a trip and will soon return to the mountaintop, overlooking the mountains and rivers.”

“Why are you so confident in me?” Chen Qingyuan was puzzled.

“If you didn’t have the ability, you wouldn’t be worthy of being my opponent.”

Wu Junyan took a sip of wine and pondered.

“Are you praising me, or yourself?” Chen Qingyuan continued to steer the flying boat forward, and the rich aroma of wine spread to every corner of the boat.

“Both.” Wu Junyan answered honestly.

“Speaking of the battle agreement with me, have you encountered any other of the Ten Heroes of the Northern Wilderness in recent years?” Chen Qingyuan was very interested in this matter.

“I have,” Wu Junyan nodded.

“Have you fought them?” Chen Qingyuan stared straight at Wu Junyan and asked.

“I haven’t had the chance.”

Wu Junyan felt a little regretful about this.

“With so many evildoers in the world, why are you fixated on me?” Chen Qingyuan’s eyes were a bit resentful.

“If I were to battle with them, it would be a matter of life and death. With you, it’s not necessary.”

In Wu Junyan’s mind, although Chen Qingyuan loved money and had many tricks up his sleeve, he was a principled person and worth dealing with.

Most importantly, when Wu Junyan was with Chen Qingyuan, he could take off his mask and relax. This was a feeling that Wu Junyan had never experienced before.

“Are you afraid of death?” Chen Qingyuan was surprised. “That’s impossible!”

“Death is nothing to fear, it’s just not time for a life-and-death battle yet.”

Wu Junyan said in a deep voice.”Indeed! The future holds endless possibilities. When the time comes for a do-or-die battle, we must step onto the grand stage of the world and not halt our progress here.”

The Northern Wilderness is vast, yet it is not the end. Legend has it that in the distant Imperial Province lies the center of the world, teeming with countless powerhouses and a gathering of evildoers.

Only by reaching the Imperial Province can one truly witness the colors of the world’s stage and not live in vain.

“Chen Qingyuan, I heard you made it out of the Sky Abyss alive. Won’t you meet an old acquaintance?”

As Chen Qingyuan and Wu Junyan were discussing the future, a malicious voice came from afar.

Previously, Chen Qingyuan had revealed himself in the realm of death and had dealings with the Murong family. The news of his arrival in the Northern Cang Star Domain had reached many acquaintances, and naturally, they wanted to come and see for themselves.

The person who came this time was probably not as easy to talk to as Wu Junyan, most likely here to kick someone when they’re down.
