Chapter 24 – Miss Su, can you please stop crying?

At two in the morning, He Ju and Si Hua finally returned to the hotel.

After bidding each other goodnight, they went to their respective rooms to sleep.

Si Hua was very satisfied with the life she had with He Ju.

If they could be like this back in City A, it would be great.

Si Hua was full of anticipation for the future, while He Ju was already fast asleep.

He Ju had been seriously sleep-deprived in the past, so he cherished his sleep time now.

But He Ju slept soundly, and it was Su Ran who couldn’t sleep all night.

She had already gone to bed early, but as soon as she closed her eyes, she heard He Ju’s heart-wrenching voice: “Ten years, Su Ran, is this how you treat me?!”

Su Ran couldn’t sleep anymore. She sat up, got dressed, and went to He Ju’s house.

No one was at He Ju’s house, and the hallway was very dark.

Su Ran remembered when she used to visit her grandmother’s house as a child and stayed for three years. At that time, she lived across from He Ju’s house. Whenever she couldn’t sleep, He Ju would come out of his bed and stand under her house with a flashlight.

Later, her parents took her away, and she lived tens of kilometers away from here. But with just one phone call, He Ju would still come, no matter the wind or rain. He Ju would never leave her.

Thinking about this, Su Ran sat on the steps of He Ju’s house and suddenly burst into tears.

Su Ran didn’t know why she was crying, but at that moment, she felt so lonely after just one night.

How did He Ju endure so many difficult nights?

Su Ran thought that she must wait for He Ju to come back and apologize to him.

She shouldn’t have said those hurtful words.

As Su Ran thought about it, she leaned against the wall of He Ju’s house and fell asleep.

Su Ran was awakened by a middle-aged woman: “Little girl, why are you sleeping here?”

Su Ran opened her eyes to see a stranger’s face, not He Ju’s. Su Ran suddenly felt like crying again: “I’m waiting for someone…”

As soon as she spoke, Su Ran realized that her voice was very hoarse.

Perhaps it was because she had cried a lot the night before.

This was the first time Su Ran had been in such a sorry state.

The woman seemed surprised: “Are you waiting for He Ju?”

Su Ran’s eyes immediately lit up with joy: “Yes, I’m waiting for him to come back.”

The woman looked at Su Ran strangely: “What’s your relationship with He Ju?”

At this question, Su Ran was immediately at a loss.

Yes, what was her relationship with He Ju?

After a moment of silence, under the woman’s gaze, Su Ran reluctantly said two words: “Classmate.”

The woman smiled slightly: “So you’re a classmate. I’m He Ju’s neighbor upstairs. Hasn’t He Ju told you? He moved away a while ago. I heard it was because his internship was too far from here. He said he would come back when his parents come back for the New Year.”

Moved away?

Su Ran’s face turned pale, and she almost stumbled, but the woman quickly caught her and asked with concern: “Little girl, what’s wrong with you? You don’t look too good. Do you want me to take you to the hospital?”

Su Ran shook her head, declined the woman’s offer, and then ran out unsteadily.

The woman called out with concern: “Little girl, it’s pouring rain outside.”

But Su Ran didn’t look back and left the woman’s sight.

Su Ran stood in the rain, letting her dress get soaked. At this moment, she was not the swan in everyone’s eyes, but a helpless drenched chicken.

Su Ran took out her phone and dialed a certain person’s number eagerly.

But one time…

Two times…

Three times…

Su Ran made many calls, but He Ju didn’t answer any of them.

It was only then that Su Ran realized that He Ju seemed to have completely slipped out of her grasp.

Su Ran’s vision blurred, and she couldn’t even tell if it was rain or tears in front of her. But she had never been so drenched in the rain before, because whenever it rained, He Ju would always come early to pick her up, so she never needed to bring an umbrella.

Su Ran squatted in the rain, crying uncontrollably.

At this moment, a white van was parked not far from her, and the three brothers Bai Yan looked at Su Ran with a complicated expression.

After all, their task was to watch over Su Ran and prevent her from going to Yunnan to disturb He Ju and Si Hua’s date.

But Su Ran… seemed to be deviating from the script, didn’t she?

Fatty: “Brother Yan, what’s wrong with Su Ran? Why do I feel like she’s changed?”

Motor also looked complicated: “Yeah, she’s been gone for so many years. Hasn’t Su Ran ever come to see He Ju? What’s she doing now? Why does it feel like she’s the one who’s been hurt?”

Bai Yan frowned and shook his head honestly: “I don’t know. My girlfriend has never done anything like this.”

Fatty: “Brother Yan, I think she’s a bit pitiful. Should we go and give her an umbrella?”

Motor: “Yeah, after all, she’s the one He Ju likes. We’ve been calling her sister-in-law for years.”

Bai Yan looked at Fatty and Motor: “I think what you’re saying makes sense, but I have a girlfriend. You two should go.”

Bai Yan was faithful to his girlfriend, even though they were in a long-distance relationship, he still had to be mindful of his actions.

Bai Yan really didn’t understand Su Ran’s strange behavior. Wasn’t it Su Ran who rejected He Ju and despised him? Why was she crying so much now?

Was this… being pathetic?

Bai Yan didn’t understand, but Fatty and Motor were already playing rock-paper-scissors to decide who would go.

In the end, Fatty went with the umbrella.

Su Ran squatted in the rain and cried for a long time, but no one paid any attention to her. Suddenly, she felt the rain stop. Su Ran opened her eyes and saw that the rain was still pouring, but she wasn’t getting wet anymore.

Su Ran’s eyes, red as a rabbit’s, instantly lit up.

Could it be that He Ju had come?Su Ran turned around with eyes full of surprise, only to see Fatty’s troubled face. The surprise in her eyes instantly turned to disappointment, and she continued to turn back, squatting on the ground and crying even louder.

Fatty: “…” He awkwardly held the umbrella, unsure whether to stay or go.

The umbrella was small; if he wanted to cover Su Ran completely, he would have to get drenched himself.

Fatty could already feel the rain washing over his back.

But Su Ran showed no signs of stopping her tears.

Fatty, truly helpless, said: “Miss Su, can you please stop crying?”

Su Ran collapsed even more: “Mind your own business!!!”

Fatty was at a loss for words and could only hurry to call Bai Yan for help.

Bai Yan sighed: “If we knew it would come to this, why did we ever start?”

Motor also sighed: “Do you think Su Ran has really fallen for He Ju?”

Bai Yan scoffed: “Even if she has, she would never admit it.”

Motor was shocked: “Why? He Ju is so outstanding…”

Bai Yan: “As much as I hate to admit it, in the eyes of most wealthy people, He Ju’s family background is just not presentable, a mismatch of social status. How could Su Ran, a young lady who’s always held herself so high, stoop to admit that she’s fallen for a poor boy?”

Motor was shocked: “But what about Si Hua…”

Bai Yan proudly said: “My sister has more money than she could ever spend, and our family doesn’t need her to carry on the lineage. Besides, He Ju is outstanding in his own right. Give him a few years, and in City A, he’ll be walking sideways!”

Not to mention, with a business elite like Si Hua by He Ju’s side.

It would be hard for him not to rise rapidly!
