Chapter 158 – Thunderous means, agreement

He Ju was enjoying dinner with Si Hua, savoring his favorite spicy crayfish, steamed scallops with garlic vermicelli, and steamed hairy crabs.

The two were very happy, chatting about the future while eating.

Unexpectedly, the doorbell rang.

He Ju removed his gloves: “I’ll see who it is. You keep eating.”

After speaking, He Ju got up to answer the door, only to find the family of three standing there.

All three were holding gift boxes, Bai Xu and Wang Yaqing were smiling joyfully.

Even Bai Qifeng had lost his earlier arrogance.

He Ju had thought they would resist him to the end, but now it seemed…

How could someone who managed his companies so well be incompetent?

He Ju smiled amicably: “Third Uncle, Third Aunt, what brings you here? Come in, won’t you?”

At that moment, Si Hua also came out. Upon seeing the three, the smile vanished from her face. She just glanced at them and turned back inside.

Seeing this, Bai Xu and his company felt awkward and hastily placed their gifts in front of He Ju.

Bai Xu then spoke: “Little Ju, Third Uncle and Aunt won’t come in. It’s getting late, and we won’t disturb you any longer. We came tonight to apologize to you and Little Hua. We failed to raise our daughter properly…”

He Ju didn’t really want to hear this, so he cut them off: “I don’t want anyone to bring up today’s events again.”

Bai Xu’s mouth snapped shut, his face showing discomfort.

This was the first time he had ever been put in his place by a younger relative.

Just as Wang Yaqing was about to speak, Bai Qifeng said to He Ju: “Can we talk?”

He Ju glanced at him: “Sure.”

Bai Xu then took Wang Yaqing away, leaving space for He Ju and Bai Qifeng.

He Ju: “Would you like to come in for some tea?”

Bai Qifeng: “No need, I’ll leave after I’ve said my piece.”

He Ju nodded: “Go ahead.”

Bai Qifeng: “I admit, I initially collaborated with Bai Shangmo, providing information about the Bai family, and even visited Gu Li to show sincerity. But I only gave money, I never truly harmed you.”

Bai Qifeng took a deep breath and continued: “What Bai Shang did was indeed too much. Her character has always been like this. We spoiled her too much at home, making her think she could do whatever she wanted. That’s our fault. I assure you, if you let her go, Bai Shang will never do such a thing again…”

He Ju looked at Bai Qifeng and countered: “And if she does it again?”

Bai Qifeng: “You can deal with her as you see fit.”

He Ju suddenly smiled, a smile that didn’t reach his eyes: “Then she can stay in a psychiatric hospital for life, how about that?”

Bai Qifeng’s hands clenched into fists at his sides, but he still nodded: “Agreed.”

He Ju nodded faintly: “Continue.”

Bai Qifeng: “From today on, we won’t trouble you or Sister Hua anymore, nor covet the Bai family’s wealth. Just give us what we deserve, and I promise to help you keep Aunt and Fourth Uncle in check. This way, you and Sister Hua can rest easy.”

He Ju couldn’t help but sigh inwardly; Bai Qifeng was indeed clever, coming up with a strategy in just a few hours, offering exactly what he needed most.

The Bai family had a large business, not just the Starshine company, with many assets both domestically and abroad. Bai Xu had been through the wringer in the business world for many years. Removing a veteran was easy to say but came at a great cost.

The Bai family needed mutual checks and balances to thrive.

He Ju didn’t refuse, merely stating: “Words alone are not enough. If you’re sincere, bring a written agreement.”

He Ju: “Oh, and if you betray us, I want you to move out of the Bai family’s household registration, severing all ties with the Bai family from now on. Can you do that?”

He Ju’s tone was calm, as if chatting about everyday matters, but Bai Qifeng was far from happy.

He knew He Ju would never be at a disadvantage. He hadn’t expected…

Finally, Bai Qifeng compromised: “Fine.”

“I’ll bring the agreement tomorrow.”

After speaking, Bai Qifeng turned to leave, but He Ju said: “I’ll accept your gifts, but there’s no need to come tomorrow. We have to go on a long trip.”

Bai Qifeng immediately turned back, anxiously asking: “What about Bai Shang?”

He Ju chuckled: “After such a foolish act, doesn’t she deserve to reflect on it properly?”

He Ju bent down to pick up the items on the floor: “You can visit her, but if you release her privately, don’t blame me for going back on my word.”

With that, He Ju prepared to close the door.

Bai Qifeng: “When can she be released?”

He Ju: “After Si Hua and I return from our honeymoon.”

Then, He Ju closed the door.

Despite his anger, Bai Qifeng was powerless. At least He Ju had accepted the gifts and allowed them to visit Bai Shang.

Now, all they could do was wait.

Waiting was excruciating.

Bai Qifeng despised He Ju, but he had to admit, He Ju was quite cunning. If he had immediately released Bai Shang, who would respect him in the future?

Bai Shang had really hit a snag this time.

Bai Qifeng left, and He Ju returned to the living room. Si Hua had already washed the dishes and gone to take a shower.

She trusted He Ju to handle things well. As his wife, her most important role was to support him.

He Ju casually placed the items on the sofa and went back to the bedroom.

When Si Hua came out of the bathroom, she was surprised to see two large suitcases neatly packed: “What’s this?”

He Ju: “Just in time, come check if we’ve missed anything.”

Si Hua was confused: “Aren’t we not going?”

He Ju stood up, swept Si Hua into his arms, and sat on the bed. He couldn’t help but pinch her adorable, silly face: “When did your husband ever say that, hm?”

Si Hua: “But with such a big incident at home, your company’s opening in a few days, and the new project…”

He Ju caressed Si Hua’s soft waist with a smile: “The home situation can’t be resolved right now, we have to wait. As for the company opening, Bai Yan and the others can handle it. They may not seem reliable, but they’re quite capable. And Starshine, aren’t my parents in City A? Nothing major will happen. I’ve booked the tickets. Don’t worry about anything tomorrow, just follow your husband.”

His fingers slipped under Si Hua’s robe, touching her flat belly: “Besides, without a proper honeymoon, where would our little baby come from?”

Si Hua’s face turned crimson, and before she could stop him, He Ju’s warm palm moved up, grasping her softness.

Si Hua quickly pressed down on He Ju’s hand: “We haven’t finished packing yet!!!”
