Chapter 131 – Eating hotpot happily with my wife

He Ju and Si Hua arrived at the market, He Ju to buy meat and Si Hua to pick up vegetables. They quickly purchased all the ingredients they craved and then, hand in hand, returned home.

No sooner had they reached home than thunder rumbled on the horizon, followed by large raindrops falling and a strong wind that rustled the tree branches outside.

Si Hua, with her hair tied in a low ponytail, was prepping ingredients in the kitchen, while He Ju worked on design drafts in his study.

Glancing at the time, Si Hua realized it was already six in the evening.

Time truly flies when you’re with the one you love.

Their life was about to get busier, juggling work and taking wedding photos, but Si Hua was thrilled that they would soon announce their marriage to the world.

And He Ju was willingly involved this time.

Humming while washing the vegetables, Si Hua had often fantasized about cooking for He Ju when she was abroad. Now that it was a reality, she was truly happy.

He Ju had just finished his design draft when his phone rang with that familiar yet strange number.

This time, He Ju answered, only to hear Bai Xu’s voice, gritting his teeth, “He Ju, what do you really want?”

While tidying up his papers, He Ju replied calmly, “Third Uncle, what are you saying? Didn’t you call me? Why are you asking me what I want?”

His tone grew serious, “It should be me asking you, Third Uncle, what do you want?”

Bai Xu was taken aback by He Ju’s question but quickly recovered.

After a long wait, Bai Xu spoke, “I won’t make a move against you if you don’t make a move against me, okay?”

He Ju almost laughed out loud. Was that all he could think of? Playing word games with him?

He Ju replied, “Third Uncle, that’s not very fair. Even if you don’t make a move against me, if you target my wife or her family, I still can’t let you off.”

Out of He Ju’s sight, Bai Xu’s face darkened. Was this kid really that shrewd?

Bai Xu, itching with hatred, asked, “So what do you really want?”

Getting to the point, He Ju didn’t beat around the bush, “Stop coveting what belongs to Si Hua and Bai Yan.”

Bai Xu fell silent, and He Ju didn’t rush him for an answer, knowing well the allure of the siblings’ wealth.

As the saying goes, money talks. Everyone loves money; it’s an undeniable fact.

He Ju continued, “Third Uncle, think carefully about what would happen if my complaint reached the provincial office. How would your wife and children see you? I’m not in a hurry for an answer, after all, we’re family, and I should give you a chance.”

Bai Xu stood up abruptly, kicking over a stool, “He Ju, are you threatening me?”

He Ju replied, “Third Uncle, don’t wrong me, I’m just stating the facts.”

Furious, Bai Xu slammed the phone down.

He Ju wasn’t worried. Just as he was about to put down the phone and help Si Hua, he heard her knocking at the door, “Honey, come out for dinner!”

Hearing her sweet voice, He Ju’s mood lifted greatly, and he quickly responded, “Okay, just a moment, baby, I’m coming.”

He Ju quickly tidied up the desk and went out.

In truth, He Ju had no concrete evidence of Bai Xu’s illegal activities. Bai Xu was a seasoned player, and his years without falling proved his capability.

But He Ju had acted so confidently that Bai Xu, who had indeed done wrong, didn’t dare to gamble on whether He Ju had evidence.

And that…

Was exactly the effect He Ju wanted.

For a large family, it’s crucial to avoid one party becoming too powerful. If He Ju took them all down, the Bai family’s collapse was inevitable. But if they kept each other in check, Si Hua’s life would be much easier.

The premise was to let them know who truly held power in the Bai family.

With fear in their hearts, they would naturally restrain themselves.

The Bai family members were too secretive, and He Ju needed more time to fully understand them, but that was okay. He would grow quickly to protect his wife and future children from the storms of life.

He Ju went out to find Si Hua serving the dishes and meat, about to fetch the pot. He hurried over, “Let me do it, don’t burn yourself.”

Si Hua giggled and pecked He Ju on the cheek, “Having you is wonderful, husband.”

He Ju looked at Si Hua with utter adoration; he really had no way to deal with her.

As they sat down face to face, He Ju was about to start eating when Si Hua hastily took out her phone, “Don’t move, let me take a photo!”

He Ju put down his chopsticks, but after Si Hua snapped pictures of the food, she sweetly called out, “Husband, look at me~”

When He Ju looked, Si Hua quickly took a picture of him.

He Ju was both amused and exasperated, “Why take a photo? I’m not that good-looking.”

Si Hua insisted, “You are the most handsome. I super like you.”

He Ju was taken aback and started cooking the beef tripe, “You’re not being reserved at all now.”

Si Hua ran over with her phone, “Reserved for what? I’m already your wife, do I need to be reserved? Besides, having a wife like me is something others can only envy.”

Before He Ju could respond, Si Hua pointed to her smooth cheek, “Come on, kiss me.”

He Ju, trying to hold back a laugh, turned his face away, “No kiss.”

Si Hua, not pleased, turned around, lifted He Ju’s chin, and kissed him on the lips, even snapping a few photos in the process.

He Ju was stunned, “Are you forcing a kiss?”

His heart was racing.

Si Hua ran off, sitting across from him, laughing joyfully, “I just wanted a peck on the cheek, but you were unwilling, so I had no choice but to take matters into my own hands.”

He Ju’s gaze heated up as he quickly served more food, “Quick, let’s eat first, then we can get down to business.”

He was eager to see how assertive Si Hua could be.

Si Hua stopped teasing and quickly posted on her social media before joining He Ju to savor the delicious hotpot.

Enjoying the fragrant hotpot with her beloved by her side, Si Hua wished time could freeze at this moment to relish this cozy time.

As for He Ju, his mind was full of thoughts: feed his wife well now, so she can take care of him later.

Therefore, He Ju was particularly enthusiastic about serving the food, cooking the meat, and pouring the drinks.
