Vol.2 – Chapter 13 – Long Street Slashes Leopard

“Aooh——”

A beastly roar shook the long street.

A black wind darted out, revealing a large black panther, six feet tall and ten feet long. Its fur shimmered, surrounded by a swirling black wind, exuding a fierce aura.

Had Chu Liang not dodged in time, he might have been hit head-on by this panther.

This was a fourth-level Black Wind Panther, just transported to the Beast Hall. It was supposed to be sedated when taken out of its cage. However, it suddenly woke up, killed the man carrying it, and bolted out.

The Black Wind Panther was known for its speed. Before the experts in the Beast Hall could react, it had already reached the street.

“Beast on the loose! Take cover!” A loud shout echoed from behind.

The bustling crowd on the street scattered immediately. Although most of the inhabitants of Glutton City were cultivators, the majority were only at the first three levels. Facing this fourth-level beast, they risked losing their lives.

“Roar——” With a furious roar, the Black Wind Panther leaped up, attempting to soar into the sky.

“Evil beast, halt!”

A stern shout came from the Beast Hall, and finally, an expert emerged. With a flick of his hand, a golden bell attached to a red string was thrown out.

The bell transformed into a large hexagonal net in mid-air, with a golden bell at each corner. The net expanded, covering the sky!

The Black Wind Panther’s path was blocked. It twisted its body and landed back on the street, causing the crowd below to scatter in all directions. Those who couldn’t dodge in time were either disemboweled or lost limbs from the panther’s swipe…

Seven or eight figures emerged from the Beast Hall, appearing on the rooftops on both sides, holding long hooks and golden nets, watching intently.

But the Black Wind Panther was too fast, not giving them a chance to act. It charged straight down the long street, turning into a black wind!

“Move aside.”

The path of the black wind was already cleared of pedestrians, but a woman stood there, unmoving.

A bright red figure stood out on the empty street.

She was dressed in a sleek, fiery red outfit, with a high waist and long legs. Her clothes fluttered, and a black cloak billowed behind her. Her hair was tied up, her skin was snow-white, her face was charming, but her eyes were sharp.

She was as beautiful as a peach blossom, yet as cold as frost.

As the black wind roared past, she flipped her right hand and suddenly pulled out a golden staff with intricate carvings, as long as her eyebrows. The staff shone brightly, not like an ordinary object. Besides the golden protrusions, there was also a flame-like red line on it.

With a step, the dust that flew up suddenly slowed down.

Then she raised the staff with both hands. The red line on the staff suddenly lit up, spiraling upwards, reaching the top of the staff, forming a three-foot-long crimson blade!

She bent her knees and waist, raised the long blade, and seemed to utter a soft shout.

By the time she completed all these slow movements, the Black Wind Panther had just reached her overhead. Its ferocious eyes reflected the dazzling red.

Swoosh——

The blade rose and fell.

The ferocity in the Black Wind Panther’s eyes turned into horror. It couldn’t believe that such a seemingly weak body could contain such terrifying power. As its head passed the woman, it was split in two; as its body passed the woman, it was split in two; even its tail was split in two as it passed the woman.

One strike, and the leaping panther was split open!

It should be noted that this fourth-level Black Wind Panther was no longer made of flesh and blood. Its body was as hard as rock, and even pulling out a single hair was like pulling out an iron thorn. Yet under this woman’s blade, it was as if it was made of paper.

Blood rained down, splattering on the woman’s red clothes and cloak. She didn’t blink, her eyes burning like fire.

Bang——

The two halves of the Black Wind Panther’s body continued to rush forward for several tens of feet before hitting the ground, leaving a long trail of blood.

“Miss!””Miss!””Miss……”

In the blink of an eye, a group of people rushed up, surrounding the woman, checking on her safety.

“I’m fine, just clean up.”

The woman strode forward, not sparing a glance, her aura billowing.

She led a group of people, marching grandly into the gate of the Beast Hall. From inside came a faint voice: “Clear the people! Close the door! The Miss needs to bathe and change clothes.”

……

“How domineering.”

Chu Liang, who had been watching the whole process, felt that the woman was intimidating.

Although he had been with Di Nvfeng for many years, Di Nvfeng rarely showed her domineering side, probably because of her age. Most of the time, she was lazy and didn’t exert much pressure on people.

But the woman just now was so intimidating that every step she took seemed to make the surrounding air colder.

Her cultivation level was also extremely high. That Black Wind Panther was definitely one of the strongest among the fourth-level beasts, with speed faster than lightning and claws and teeth comparable to divine weapons. The reason it died so cleanly was that it had met its nemesis.

The way she acted just now…

Chu Liang recalled that when she was tens of feet away from the Black Wind Panther, it was just a moment for the panther.

But in that time, she took out her weapon, conjured up the blade, raised the blade, and gathered her strength…

This series of processes seemed to be completed slowly, without any hurry. But when she finished, the Black Wind Panther had just reached her.

It seemed as if they were experiencing different speeds of time.

No… The key seemed to be the step she took.

When she stepped down, something strange happened around her. This reminded Chu Liang of something, formation.

Formations usually require the complex arrangement of multiple people’s power, but in the cultivation world, there is a unique method that simplifies this process, using one’s own true energy as a guide to complete the formation by oneself.

This cultivation lineage that specializes in formations is called formation technique.

If Chu Liang was not mistaken, what the woman had just used was a kind of formation technique, and it was an instant formation technique, showing her high level of attainment.

In the time it took for him to be lost in thought, when he looked up again, he saw that the Beast Hall seemed to be closing its doors.

Chu Liang was suddenly anxious.

Once the door was closed, he didn’t know when it would open again. What if the Human-faced Ghoul was taken away by someone else when he came back next time?

He quickly stepped forward and said, “Don’t close the door yet, can I go in?”

Before the doorkeeper could answer, an old man with a long beard came out from inside, coldly saying, “We’re closed to visitors, no entry.”

Chu Liang earnestly said, “There’s something inside that I really want, can I take a look?”

The old man glanced at him, and before he could speak, a woman’s voice came from upstairs, “Let him in.”

“Hmm?” The old man turned his head and looked back, seemingly surprised, but he stepped aside to let Chu Liang in, at the same time telling him, “You’re not allowed upstairs.”

“Alright.” Chu Liang nodded in agreement.

The Beast Hall was extremely spacious, with many iron cages displayed on the first floor, each containing various spirit beasts. The ghostly items were all in a small corner.

After searching for a while, Chu Liang finally found the counter with the sign “Human-faced Ghost”.

The clerk behind the counter seemed a bit surprised, not knowing how he got in. But seeing Chu Liang coming over, he still habitually smiled, “Young master, what would you like to buy?”

“I want to see this human-faced ghost.” Chu Liang said.

Unlike demon beasts, which are kept in cages, ghostly items are sealed in small porcelain bottles, which are then sealed in cages with talisman papers.

Seeing what Chu Liang was pointing at, the clerk said, “Alright.”

With that, he moved his fingers, and the talisman paper on the porcelain bottle fell off.

Whoosh—

A chilling aura and a flash of white light shot out, and a grey ghostly figure, small as a child but with an oversized head, suddenly appeared.

“Ah—”

As soon as the human-faced ghost jumped out, it was full of killing intent, its hands grabbing the iron cage and tearing at it crazily, desperately wanting to escape. Seeing Chu Liang watching it from outside, it bared its fangs. If it weren’t for the iron cage, it would have pounced on him already.

Fierce and evil!

“This creature is not very advanced, but it is quite rare and extremely vicious and cunning. Our Beast Hall staff spent a lot of effort to catch it.” The clerk explained.

Chu Liang nodded slightly, he knew this thing was difficult to deal with.

However, the clerk was probably saying this to justify the price, so he directly asked, “How much?”

“Eight hundred Rosefinch coins.” The clerk answered.

Chu Liang calculated in his mind, this was equivalent to eight hundred sword coins on Shu Mountain, which was quite a lot. Moreover, the cultivation of this human-faced ghost was average, it was just rare and hard to catch. Plus, the market price of goods in Glutton City was inherently inflated, which justified this price.

But for him, its value was far more than that.

“I’m going to exchange for Rosefinch coins now, can you hold it for me and not sell it to others?” Chu Liang pondered for a moment, then said.

This item was a must-have for him, so he unusually didn’t haggle over the price, but asked to reserve it.

“Sure.” The clerk nodded, “But you have to pay a deposit, and we can only hold it for you for up to three days.”

“No problem.” Chu Liang agreed without hesitation.

Walking out of the Beast Hall, he couldn’t help but smile.

The beautiful scene of the big-headed dolls sitting in a row helping him cultivate seemed to be right in front of him!
