Chapter 100 – He died at twenty-nine

“Is it you!”

Hao Xiaoqiang’s pupils contracted sharply.

The man who suddenly appeared was none other than Ye Qiu.

Ye Qiu smiled and said, “Didn’t expect to meet so soon, did you?”

“How did you find this place?”

Hao Xiaoqiang was puzzled. It made sense for the people from the Underworld Palace to find his hiding spot, but how did Ye Qiu manage it?

“I have my ways. If it weren’t for some delays, I would have come looking for you during the day.”

Ye Qiu glanced at the injured man on the ground and then at the woman being held hostage by Hao Xiaoqiang. He mocked, “You’re a killer, yet you always go after women? Where’s your sense of decency?”

“I’m a killer; I don’t need decency.”

“But you’re a man!” Ye Qiu widened his eyes, feigning surprise. “Or are you not a man?”

“You’re the one who’s not a man!” Hao Xiaoqiang glared at Ye Qiu with resentment. “If it weren’t for you, I would have killed that woman today. Since you’re here, I’ll send you on your way.”

He raised his gun to shoot.

“Wait—”

Ye Qiu quickly spoke up, “I’m not here to be your enemy. I just want to know, who hired you?”

“Do you think I’d tell you?” Hao Xiaoqiang sneered. “First rule of being a killer: never reveal the client’s identity, even in death.”

Ye Qiu frowned slightly. “So, you won’t say even if it means your life?”

“I won’t say even if I die.” Hao Xiaoqiang’s attitude was resolute.

He had been a killer for many years and knew the rules of the trade well. If he easily revealed his client’s identity, his reputation would be ruined. No one would hire him again, and he would be hunted by the entire industry.

“Why make things difficult for yourself?” Ye Qiu advised. “Just tell me who hired you, and I promise not to kill you.”

“What did you say?” Hao Xiaoqiang thought he had misheard.

“I said, just tell me who hired you, and I won’t kill you.”

“Hahaha…”

Hao Xiaoqiang burst into laughter, as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world. After a while, he stopped laughing and asked Ye Qiu, “Do you know who I am?”

“I know. You’re a killer.”

“Then do you know what I do?”

Ye Qiu glanced at Hao Xiaoqiang, thinking, is this killer stupid, asking such a dumb question?

“A killer kills people, right?” Ye Qiu said.

“Since you know I’m a killer, how dare you boast about killing me?” Hao Xiaoqiang pointed the gun at Ye Qiu’s head. “One move of my finger, and your life is over.”

“Is that so?” Ye Qiu stepped forward.

“Stop! Move again, and I’ll shoot.” Hao Xiaoqiang shouted. It was the first time he had seen someone so unafraid of death.

“Brother, be careful, the gun is loaded,” the man on the ground reminded.

Ye Qiu seemed not to hear and continued walking toward Hao Xiaoqiang. “If you want to shoot, go ahead.”

“If you seek death, I’ll grant your wish.”

Bang!

Hao Xiaoqiang fired.

At that moment, Ye Qiu’s figure moved like a gust of wind, rushing toward Hao Xiaoqiang.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Hao Xiaoqiang kept pulling the trigger, bullets flying toward Ye Qiu like a dense rain.

When the clip was empty, Hao Xiaoqiang stopped.

To his shock, Ye Qiu was less than two meters away, completely unharmed.

This…

Hao Xiaoqiang was stunned.

He couldn’t believe that so many bullets had missed Ye Qiu.

Is this guy human or ghost?

Too terrifying!

Hao Xiaoqiang had only one thought now: to get out of here.

Second rule of being a killer: if you can’t win, run.

As a qualified killer, Hao Xiaoqiang had thoroughly examined the room when he moved in, leaving a way out.

Now, three meters behind him was a window.

Jumping out of that window would allow him to escape.

“Who are you?” Hao Xiaoqiang asked as he retreated with the woman toward the window.

“You don’t need to know who I am. Just tell me who hired you,” Ye Qiu said. “This is your last chance.”

“Dream on. I’ll never reveal my client’s identity.”

Hao Xiaoqiang kept retreating, getting closer to the window.

“Sigh, I wanted to spare your life, but you insist on seeking death. Don’t blame me then.”

Ye Qiu took a step forward, releasing a cold, murderous aura.

“Stop! I warn you, come any closer, and I’ll kill her first.”

Hao Xiaoqiang tightened his grip, and the woman’s eyes rolled back, on the verge of fainting.

Ye Qiu stopped and suddenly asked, “Do you know who I am?”

“Who are you?”

Hao Xiaoqiang wanted to know who this freakishly skilled guy was.

“I’m a doctor,” Ye Qiu said.

“A doctor?” Hao Xiaoqiang was skeptical. Could a doctor dodge bullets?

“A doctor can save lives, but also… take lives!”

Whoosh—

As soon as he finished speaking, Ye Qiu vanished, reappearing beside Hao Xiaoqiang in a flash, delivering a punch.

Bang!

The punch landed on Hao Xiaoqiang’s ribs.

The immense force sent Hao Xiaoqiang flying, crashing into the wall, then falling to the ground.

Ye Qiu followed up, and before Hao Xiaoqiang could get up, Ye Qiu stomped on his throat.

“Ugh!”

Blood gushed from Hao Xiaoqiang’s mouth.

In his final moments, Hao Xiaoqiang glanced at his watch. Five minutes to midnight.

“Seems like even changing my name couldn’t escape fate.”

A sorrowful expression appeared on Hao Xiaoqiang’s face. Within five seconds, he stopped breathing.

He died at twenty-nine.

Ye Qiu walked over to the woman and helped her up. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, thank you,” the woman said gratefully, her eyes filled with undisguised admiration.

“You’re welcome.”

Ye Qiu then went to the injured man, quickly checking his wounds. He found that neither bullet had hit a vital spot. He removed the bullets and drew two hemostatic talismans.

Ye Qiu helped the man up. “Your injuries aren’t serious. Just rest for a while.”

“Thank you,” the man thanked Ye Qiu.

“Are you police?” Ye Qiu asked curiously.

“We’re from the Underw—” The woman started but was cut off by a sharp glare from the man, who quickly shut her mouth.

The man said, “Brother, my name is Gu Feng. What’s your name?”

“I’m Ye Qiu,” Ye Qiu replied.

“Brother Ye Qiu, thank you so much. If it weren’t for you, the consequences would have been unimaginable,” Gu Feng said gratefully.

“Yes, thank you for saving my life,” the woman thanked again.

“It was nothing,” Ye Qiu said just as his phone rang urgently.

He quickly took out his phone, and his expression changed when he saw the caller ID.
