Chapter 52 – Lay down

They thought the storage room was temporarily safe.

No one had expected that a ghost had been following them all along.

If it weren’t for Yang Jian’s reminder, they wouldn’t have noticed it until now, and the consequences were obvious.

None of these people could hope to make it out alive, including the Ghost Tamer, Yan Li.

Ghost Tamers could harness the power of fierce ghosts, but it wasn’t omnipotent. Reckless use of fierce ghost power would only hasten their own death.

At this moment, Yang Jian saw that young man named Yan Li.

His complexion wasn’t good, with a pale and weak appearance as if he had lost a lot of blood.

But what concerned Yang Jian more was what kind of ghost was hidden inside Yan Li’s body? Was his body already at its limit, and how much longer until the fierce ghost was revived?

“Are you… human?”

Yan Li wasn’t as panicked as the others. After running out of the storage room, he immediately stopped and looked at Yang Jian with a serious expression.

He wasn’t sure if the entire security guard was human or a ghost.

Yang Jian said, “I should be human. I heard you say your name was Yan Li. Are you a Ghost Tamer?”

Yan Li’s pupils slightly contracted. “You are too?”

“I am a member of the International Criminal Police Organization.”

Yang Jian thought for a moment, and decided to bluff his way through it. He couldn’t just tell people that he was a student.

“That’s the International Criminal Police Organization?”

Yan Li looked at Yang Jian again. Seeing that he was wearing a security guard uniform, he looked like he might be telling the truth. Then he saw the satellite positioning device that was standard issue for police officers on Yang Jian’s chest, and he believed him.

“I heard that the International Criminal Police Organization is seriously short of manpower, with less than one police officer assigned to each city around the country. The International Criminal Police in Da Chang City was Zhou Zheng. What’s your name?”

“My name is Yang Jian. By the way, let me tell you that Zhou Zheng died a few days ago in the college incident.” Yang Jian said calmly.

Yan Li said, “I see. Thank you for your help earlier. I don’t know how you managed to withstand so many fierce ghosts attacks. Even as a Ghost Tamer, it would be difficult to be in such a situation. I initially thought that the missing people in the mall were only facing a dangerous level C fierce ghost. Now it seems that I severely underestimated the situation.”

“If I had known this, I wouldn’t have been greedy for this money.”

Regret was written all over his face, feeling remorse for his actions.”What ability do you rely on to survive the attacks of this fierce ghost for so long?”

Yang Jian didn’t reveal his ability and instead asked him back.

Yan Li didn’t hide anything and looked down at his blood-stained hands, saying, “People in the Dao world call me Ghost Blood Yan Li. My hands are stained with ghost blood, which can restrict the abilities of other ghosts. I once cooperated with someone to successfully capture a ghost, but I can’t keep my ghost blood outside for too long, otherwise, ghosts will emerge from the blood…”

“Wait, you said you cooperated with someone to successfully capture a ghost?”

Yang Jian’s eyes narrowed, showing a look of surprise and doubt. “What method did you use?”

Can ghosts be captured?

“A simple and crude method. I used ghost blood to restrict the movements of that ghost. As long as it was kept in a pure gold box for a short period of time and sealed tightly enough, the ghost couldn’t escape.”

Yan Li spoke up. “This is a universal method worldwide. As a criminal investigator, don’t you know that?”

“I’m just an intern, not a full-time employee,” replied Yang Jian.

He did remember the paper he had read on the website before.

It was written by a professor named Bruce Pi.

The content of the paper was roughly that the power of ghosts could affect all matter, but it couldn’t affect gold. The professor tried to analyze and find a way to restrain ghosts through scientific and rigorous methods.

If the paper was useful, it meant that ghosts could indeed be imprisoned and captured in containers made of gold.

But that was all. They still couldn’t be killed or eliminated.

“Help, help me!”

At this moment, the frightened cry from the side interrupted their conversation.

Yang Jian saw that the ghosts with turned heads had surrounded them from all directions, blocking every aisle.

Unless they jumped from the fifth floor, there was no way out.

But jumping from the fifth floor was suicide.

Tang Boss, Manager Li, Master Luo, and a group of people were crying and screaming, retreating back. They couldn’t get out anymore.

“What method do you have to be fearless against so many ghost attacks?”

Yan Li was also a little panicked. “If this continues, even if you’re an international criminal investigator, you’ll still die here. The power of fierce ghosts will kill you if you use too much of it. You can’t not know this.”

“Of course, I know.”Yang Jian calmly said, “You should have a lot of fierce ghost power now. Even the ghost blood on your hands is becoming difficult to control. You must be reaching your limit. Did you buy the coffin in advance?”

“I understand what you’re saying, but sometimes there’s no other way to survive,” Yan Li gritted his teeth.

“Sometimes there really is no other way, but when dealing with ghosts, you should always consider your own fierce ghost power first. This will only make you die faster. I’m different. I rely on my brain. I only use ghost power when my brain can’t handle it. But now is not the time to chat. I can’t let this boss die like this.” Yang Jian pointed to his head and smiled.

After speaking, he walked towards a group of ghosts not far away.

Yan Li’s face suddenly changed. Even he didn’t dare to face so many ghosts at once. How could this young detective have such courage?

Moreover, seeing others being surrounded by ghosts, he no longer planned to save them, only thinking about how to leave this place.

This money wasn’t worth risking his life for.

Suddenly, Yan Li saw Yang Jian trip them as he walked past.

With a few strange screams, three or four people fell down.

Are you trying to save people or harm them?

Yan Li was stunned.

“If you don’t want to die, lie down and don’t move. This way, the ghosts won’t attack you, and you’ll be able to get out alive. If you run around, you’ll only die faster.” Yang Jian grabbed the boss Tang’s collar and whispered to him.

At this moment, Tang was already at a loss, with a group of ghosts already in front of him.

He had no choice.

Immediately, he tightly closed his eyes and chose to believe Yang Jian’s words, lying down and not moving.

Lying down meant that his back was always facing the ground, which meant he could perfectly avoid any attack from any direction.

“Those who don’t want to die, do the same. Lie down and don’t move,” Yang Jian said again.

Some people listened and lay down, but more people thought Yang Jian was talking nonsense. Lying down meant waiting to die, so they still panicked and ran, trying to escape.

“Hey, that’s the fifth floor. Don’t jump, you’ll die,” Yang Jian shouted at one person.

At this time, a man next to Master Luo was crying and panicking, and he jumped over the railing from the fifth floor.

What a brave warrior.

Yang Jian sighed inwardly.

If he didn’t jump, he might still have a chance to live, but now he was definitely dead. Those who ran away weren’t going to fare any better.Soon, the escaping people found that all their paths were blocked.

The ghosts surrounded them from all directions, getting closer and closer… until they were completely surrounded.

“Ah~!” screams echoed among the ghosts.

As six or seven rotten arms reached out…

The screams immediately stopped.

Several living heads were forcibly taken off.

A ghost put their own head on the necks of the people, and then put their heads on their own neck.

New ghosts were born.

However, after all of this was done, everything returned to calmness.

All the ghosts… stopped moving.

The remaining people were lying on the ground, but they were not attacked and all survived.

“How is this possible?”

Yan Li was shocked and also lay down, but at this moment, he looked at Yang Jian as if he had seen a ghost.

Yang Jian, on the other hand, did not lie down. He just stood there, leaning against the railing, not turning his back to any of the ghosts.

“Well, did I not deceive you?” Yang Jian spoke, “Congratulations, you all survived. If you don’t mind, we can settle the labor fee now. I must warn you, my labor fee is very expensive.”

Why did he risk his life to save these despicable rich people?

Of course, it was to make money.

Did they really think Yang Jian cared for them?
