Chapter 118 – Duan Tianya, the destined man of mortal bones and young age

“You…”

Gazing at the figure before him, both familiar and strange, Xu Taiping was at a loss for words.

“What’s wrong with me?”

At that moment, Lin Buyu turned around, smiling at Xu Taiping.

Seeing her smile, Xu Taiping’s confusion turned into vigilance. He stepped back and said sternly, “You are not Lin Buyu!”

As he spoke, he swiftly drew his Spring Tiger saber from his waist.

Upon hearing Xu Taiping’s words, Duan Tianya also became alert, drawing his knife and standing beside him.

“I am Lin Buyu!”

The woman said, somewhat displeased.

“You’re not.”

Xu Taiping’s expression was serious.

“Then tell me, how am I not?”

The woman frowned.

“Sister Buyu wouldn’t speak with that tone, nor would her smile be so frivolous. You’re definitely not her,”

Xu Taiping was more certain than ever that the person before him was not Lin Buyu.

At his words, the woman was taken aback, then said with dissatisfaction:

“You say my smile is frivolous? How is it frivolous!”

But immediately, her body stiffened, and she complained:

“Damn girl, couldn’t you let me stay out a bit longer?”

After saying that, her expression and eyes changed dramatically.

They reverted to the cold demeanor Xu Taiping was familiar with.

This made Xu Taiping even more astonished.

How could one person have two completely different demeanors?

Xu Taiping was bewildered.

“Buyu?”

He tentatively asked the girl before him.

“It’s me.”

Lin Buyu nodded.

Her voice was calm, devoid of any other emotion.

“What you just saw was also me, another me, the one who has awakened memories of a past life.”

Before Xu Taiping could ask, Lin Buyu explained.

“Awakened memories of a past life? Could it be…”

Hearing Lin Buyu’s explanation and recalling how she had slain the Evil Dragon, Xu Taiping suddenly had a bold guess.

“Buyu, are you also a banished Immortal?”

He asked cautiously.

“To be precise, the banished Immortal you’re referring to is another me, Lin Buyan.”

Lin Buyu nodded and then shook her head.

“Damn girl, how can you divulge such critical information to an outsider?”

Before Xu Taiping could process her words, Lin Buyu’s expression changed again, showing a hint of dissatisfaction.

“Xu Taiping is not an outsider.”

Lin Buyu’s expression returned to calm.

“Besides, I know many of your secrets as well.”

She continued, her lips curving into a slight, proud smile as she looked at Xu Taiping.

At her words, Xu Taiping’s heart tightened.

Although Lin Buyu did not specify which secrets she knew, he could sense that she was not merely bluffing.

“You know my secrets, and I know yours. If you don’t reveal mine, I won’t reveal yours. How about that?”

Lin Buyu then asked Xu Taiping.

As she spoke, a playful smile lingered on her lips.

“Buyu, rest assured, I will not tell anyone about this.”

Xu Taiping shook his head, speaking earnestly to Lin Buyu.

“I believe you.”

Lin Buyu nodded.

She seemed not the least bit worried that Xu Taiping would reveal her secrets.

“Miss, did your other soul split from you when you unlocked the Dao seal and awakened the memories of the banished Immortal?”

Just then, Duan Tianya, who was slumped on the ground, suddenly asked with a hint of surprise.

“Yes.”

Lin Buyu did not hide anything from Duan Tianya.

Clearly, he was on his last breath.

“Who would have thought, at the end of my life, not only did I encounter a youth who cultivates with Mortal Bones, but I also met a fated one.”

Duan Tianya suddenly said with joy upon hearing this.

Hearing his words, both Lin Buyu and Xu Taiping showed surprised expressions.

“Young man, help me up. Let’s go to Listening Wind Pavilion. There are some things I want to discuss with you and the lady.”

Duan Tianya did not explain further but struggled to stand up, smiling and reaching out to Xu Taiping.

Listening Wind Pavilion, third floor.

Xu Taiping helped Duan Tianya sit down on a chair.

Lin Buyu placed the corpse of the female Flying Zombie on another chair beside Duan Tianya.

“Thank you, young friends.”

Duan Tianya smiled weakly at them.

“It’s nothing.”

Xu Taiping shook his head.

Though he had many questions, he did not rush to ask, instead waiting quietly for Duan Tianya to speak.

Lin Buyu then brought over two more chairs.

“Sit.”

After sitting down herself, she pushed the other chair towards Xu Taiping.

“Thank you.”

Xu Taiping nodded and sat down.

After seeing Xu Taiping seated, she took out a booklet from her sleeve and began to read, seemingly indifferent to the elder’s impending words.

“Young man, do you still have that wine?”

At that moment, Duan Tianya smacked his lips, somewhat sheepishly asking Xu Taiping.

Hearing the old man mention wine, Xu Taiping suddenly remembered something. He took out a gourd of wine and asked Duan Tianya, “Elder Duan, did you awaken your past life memories within the Flying Zombie’s body because of this wine?”

He could think of no other possibility.

After all, it was the Dragon Gall Wine, highly esteemed even by Fairy Lingyue.

“It seems you’ve guessed it.”

Duan Tianya chuckled.

“Dragon Gall Wine, I’ve searched for it all my life, never expecting to find it in such a way.”

He then looked up at the sky, his face filled with emotion.

“Dragon Gall Wine?”

Lin Buyan, Lin Buyu’s split soul, couldn’t help but emerge from Lin Buyu’s sea of consciousness upon hearing Duan Tianya’s words, her eyes even showing a hint of greed.

But she was quickly pulled back into the sea of consciousness by Lin Buyu.

“If you keep this up, you won’t be allowed out again.”

She warned Lin Buyan.
