Azeroth, Wyrmrest Temple.
The five guardian dragons gathered here, coiled within the grand and magnificent temple hall.
The Earth-Warder, Black Dragon King Neltharion.
The guardian of nature and dreams, Green Dragon Queen Ysera.
The guardian of time, Bronze Dragon King Nozdormu.
The guardian of the sky and magic, Blue Dragon King Malygos.
And the ruler of Wyrmrest Temple, entrusted by the Titans to oversee the other dragons, the Red Dragon Queen Alexstrasza, revered as the guardian of all life.
The five guardian dragons were already aware of the Burning Legion’s rampage in Azeroth.
Outside the temple, the dragon legion following the five guardian dragons was waiting, ready to follow their orders and join the other races of Azeroth to repel the demon invasion.
“The Wild Gods, the night elf resistance, and other races are fighting against the Burning Legion, shedding blood for Azeroth.”
“We guardian dragons cannot stand by idly; we must unite to deal with the Burning Legion.”
Green Dragon Queen Ysera said seriously.
“Of course, we must act.”
“But we are the key to resisting the Burning Legion. We need to strike at the most opportune moment, ideally when we can decisively crush the Burning Legion.”
Blue Dragon King Malygos, a massive dragon clad in sky-blue scales and surrounded by glowing magical runes, spoke calmly.
Radiating with boundless life energy, the passionate Red Dragon Queen nodded slightly:
“As long as the portal of the Well of Eternity remains open, the Burning Legion will continue to pour into Azeroth.”
“If we cannot close the portal, no amount of victories or demon slayings will matter.”
“Malygos is right; we need the right moment to strike, one that will secure victory, rather than engage in meaningless battles for the sake of showing off.”
Turning her head, the Red Dragon Queen looked at the Bronze Dragon King:
“Nozdormu, can you see the future of this battle?”
Clad in bronze scales, with eyes reflecting the deep essence of time, the Bronze Dragon King shook his head regretfully:
“Involving beings far stronger than me, I cannot foresee the future.”
“But I can vaguely sense a heavy shadow approaching Azeroth. The demons currently invading are not the true threat.”
“If we do not close the portal of the Well of Eternity soon, I fear an unstoppable danger will descend upon Azeroth.”
His voice was serious and heavy.
With a body like a black mountain, the Black Dragon King Neltharion spoke with calm wisdom:
“Everyone, there’s no need to worry so much.”
“Azeroth is under the protection of the Titans. Any demon that comes here will be suppressed to the level of a demigod.”
Pausing, the Black Dragon King smiled slightly and said:
“I have completed the Dragon Soul. As long as we gather the power of us guardian dragons and the dragon legion into the Dragon Soul, we will have an unstoppable force to cleanse the demon legion, then strike back at the Well of Eternity, close the portal, and end this crisis perfectly.”
As he spoke, the Black Dragon King took out a golden dragon-etched disc.
This was the artifact he had meticulously crafted, known as the Dragon Soul.
“The Dragon Soul. Are you sure it will work as you say?”
“If we place our hopes on it and it doesn’t meet our expectations, that would be disastrous.”
The guardian dragons were not evil; they were bright and benevolent, protecting life and order. Having fought many life-and-death battles together, they were steadfast allies who trusted each other with their lives.
The guardian dragons did not mind giving a part of their power to the Black Dragon King’s Dragon Soul, but they were concerned that the Dragon Soul, which had never been truly used before, might fail.
The Black Dragon King, with a solemn expression and a firm voice, said:
“I guarantee with my name and honor as the Earth-Warder, the Dragon Soul will not have any problems.”
“Since the first time we fought side by side in ancient times against the proto-dragon Galakrond, the idea of the Dragon Soul has been in my heart. After countless years of meticulous crafting, it has finally become the Dragon Soul we have today.”
In ancient times, the Titans sowed the seeds of life on Azeroth and left behind some intelligent Titan creations before departing.
Then, countless forms of life flourished on the surface of Azeroth.
The five guardian dragons were born in this ancient period and were regarded as the progenitor dragons.
Besides them, there were other progenitor dragons, the most powerful of which was the proto-dragon Galakrond, a terrifying monster with an insatiable hunger that devoured everything. Many progenitor dragons perished in Galakrond’s maw.
Ultimately, it was the combined efforts of the five guardian dragons that barely managed to slay Galakrond, earning the recognition of the Titan creations and being granted greater power to become the protectors of Azeroth.
“The Dragon Soul is my proudest creation, destined to carry our power to crush the demons and become a sacred relic defending Azeroth!”
Listening to the Black Dragon King’s resolute words, the Red Dragon Queen thought for a moment and slowly said:
“We don’t have a better plan now, but at least we can try Neltharion’s Dragon Soul.”
“Perhaps it will bring us an unexpected surprise.”
The Blue Dragon King, who had a good personal relationship with the Black Dragon King, also chose to trust him, smiling slightly:
“Neltharion, you have never let us down. I believe this time will be no different. It seems you are destined to become the hero who saves Azeroth.”
The Bronze Dragon King nodded in agreement with the Black Dragon King’s proposal.
Finally, among the guardian dragons, only Green Dragon Queen Ysera had not yet expressed her opinion.
Due to Saga’s reminder, the Green Dragon Queen had been silently observing the Black Dragon King while he spoke.
But the Green Dragon Queen saw no signs of anything amiss.
In her eyes, the Black Dragon King was still the wise, calm, and steady Neltharion.
“Violence. Perhaps Hyperion was mistaken.”
“Or maybe Neltharion encountered something at that time, causing some violent emotions to arise.”
Because they had saved each other’s lives more than once and could entrust their lives to each other, the Green Dragon Queen, after careful consideration, chose to put down her guard and trust the Black Dragon King.
As time passed, at Wyrmrest Temple, the five guardian dragons, along with the entire dragon legion, began to infuse their power into the Dragon Soul.
This process required some time.
All the dragons were excited, believing that once the Dragon Soul was fully charged, it would become the strongest weapon against the Burning Legion, piercing its heart and driving it out of Azeroth.
Snap!
A long dragon tail swept past, snapping a towering mountain in half, shaking the earth.
In the area where countless rocks were scattered, Mannoroth the Destructor fled in panic under Saga’s pursuit, his four stout hooves moving swiftly.
Universal Attraction!
An immense gravitational force descended, making the surrounding space as sticky as glue, binding Mannoroth the Destructor’s body tightly.
Mannoroth’s movements slowed, realizing he could not escape the dragon’s pursuit.
Knowing he could resurrect in the Twisting Nether, the demon commander decided to fight Saga to the death, his expression fierce.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Evil flames surged around Mannoroth.
He turned sharply to face the approaching mighty dragon.
Under the dragon’s shadow that covered the sky, Mannoroth stood on his hind legs, his strong humanoid upper body rising high, gripping a sharp double-headed spear tightly, aiming at the dragon’s head.
Sky-Piercing Strike!
With a low roar, Mannoroth hurled the spear at Saga with all his might.
Time seemed to slow as the spear left his hand, evil energy from Mannoroth’s body surged into the spear, coating it with a tangible layer of dark green light filled with destruction and chaos.
In the next moment, the spear reached the dragon’s forehead.
“Die, dragon! You will regret becoming the enemy of the Burning Legion.”
Mannoroth’s spirit soared.
To his disbelief, the spear stopped abruptly upon contact with the dragon, trembling violently before shattering into countless dark green fragments.
With a mighty flap of its wings, the dragon, bathed in green light, did not slow its charge. A claw descended, filling Mannoroth’s vision.
Bang!
Saga’s dragon claw enveloped Mannoroth’s body, squeezing tightly.
An irresistible force crushed Mannoroth into an unrecognizable pulp.
Exhaling, Saga reverted from his super-heavy electromagnetic battle form to his normal golden dragon form.
Having killed seven demigod demon leaders in one go, including an elite, and having been active in hunting demon leaders, Saga felt a bit tired.
After all, his targets were demigods, and killing them consumed a lot of power essence.
Though not in peak condition, the satisfaction from battle made Saga’s eyes shine brightly, his spirit at an all-time high.
He didn’t need to be at his peak.
Even now, he could still hunt demon leaders.
“The hunt continues.”
Saga smiled, ready to continue hunting demigod demon leaders.
But before he could leave, a brilliant green light erupted from a distant direction, like a green sun rising from the ground, filled with vast natural energy and majestic power.
Saga’s eyes narrowed as he looked towards the light.
“This feeling… Could it be the strongest natural demigod protector Ysera mentioned, the White Stag King?”
He pondered silently.
At the same time, after the moment of brilliance, the green light gradually dimmed and weakened.
Boom!
Another chaotic, evil light filled with destructive energy shot up, clearly visible even to Saga.
“What a powerful presence!”
Saga’s face grew serious.
Though only an indirect contact from a distance, Saga keenly sensed the formidable being behind this aura.
“It feels even stronger than the Titan God of Wrath who descended upon Deep Sea Dragon City.”
“…The true powerhouses of the Burning Legion have arrived.”
With electric currents crackling, Saga flapped his dragon wings and flew towards the source.
He moved swiftly, arriving at the battlefield on a plain in no time.
Cenarius, the King of the Forest, along with some demigod protectors Saga didn’t recognize but had heard of, and the demon Doomguard wielding a burning giant sword, were engaged in fierce combat.
But Saga’s attention was drawn to the center of the plain.
The once vast plain had become a bizarre landscape due to the clash of two powerful beings.
Bright green light filled the air, with countless giant trees, flowers, grass, and vines rising from the ground, forming an endless green forest, but simultaneously being consumed by a sea of dark green flames, twisting the entire plain.
At the center of this fire and forest, a white stag and a purple-skinned demon were locked in close combat.
The White Stag King was covered in wounds, his head lowered, his antlers piercing the demon’s chest.
The demon’s flaming claws were deeply embedded in the White Stag King’s neck.
The White Stag King’s silver fur was marked with strange dark green patterns.
“Protector, I have won.”
“You cannot defeat me, just as you cannot protect Azeroth.”
Crack!
Archimonde’s claws tore apart the White Stag King’s body, which disintegrated into countless green lights, falling in battle.
At the same time.
A void-like trajectory cut through the fire, sweeping towards Archimonde.
Sensing danger, Archimonde used his fel teleportation, his body wrapped in dark green flames, appearing in mid-air, then turned to face his attacker.
A peculiar golden dragon with diamond-like scales and three pairs of dragon horns had just closed its mouth.
With a flap of its wings, the golden dragon’s body glowed with white and black light, transforming into a colossal beast with a wingspan over a thousand meters, charging towards Archimonde.
A storm-like dragon might surged forth.
Having just slain the White Stag King, Archimonde’s face grew serious as he stared at Saga, a green portal appearing behind him.
“Demon, are you trying to flee cowardly?”
Saga growled, using a bluffing strategy, while speeding towards Archimonde.
But Archimonde remained unmoved, saying:
“This is a tactical retreat, a wise move, not cowardice.”
“We will meet again soon, and then, it will be you who runs.”
He stepped back into the portal, leaving the battlefield.
Had he been in peak condition, Archimonde would not have retreated. The dragon before him, though powerful, was not enough to instill fear. But his battle with the White Stag King had left him with significant injuries.
The White Stag King, the strongest natural demigod nurtured by Azeroth, was exceptionally powerful.
Had it not been for the White Stag King’s prior efforts against the demon legion, Archimonde’s victory would not have been so easy.
As for now, continuing the fight was possible.
The powerful demon still retained some combat capability.
But Archimonde was not the Titan God of Wrath; he was cautious and cunning, choosing to retreat rather than fight Saga with his injured body.
“This demon is very strong, likely more than a demigod.”
“Its battle with the White Stag King left it wounded. This was a rare chance to eliminate it, but it chose to flee without hesitation.”
Saga looked regretful, thinking silently.
