Chapter 291 – Abyssal solitude, dragon slumber in the desert

The Outer Plane of Casserly Abyss.

This is the plane of exiles, a prison realm within the multiverse.

At this moment, in a certain yellow sand region of the Casserly Abyss, the space suddenly rippled unnaturally, and a golden figure was banished here.

Sizzle. A few sand scorpions emerged from the gravel, glanced indifferently, and then burrowed back into the sand.

Smelling the thick stench in the air, Saga landed on the ground and looked around.

In his view was an endless sea of sand, shrouded in a faint red glow. The sky here had no sun, no clouds, only a vast spherical dome emitting a blood-red natural light, casting the entire world in a heavy, oppressive crimson.

His perception extended further.

Besides the yellow sand, there were also vast swamps and a few dry patches of land appearing in Saga’s perception.

“A desolate world of sand and swamps. More accurately, quicksand and swamps.”

Saga looked down and saw that his claws were already half-buried in the gravel and still sinking slowly.

“This isn’t ordinary quicksand; it’s draining my strength, even my psychic energy and magic power are gradually weakening.”

The quicksand below seemed alive, devouring Saga’s strength, psychic energy, and innate magic power. If not for his unique power essence, it would likely be absorbed by the dangerous gravel as well.

“As expected of the Casserly Abyss, the prison plane of the multiverse, even the sand here is dangerous.”

“I bet those swamps are just as perilous, unlike any material realm swamps.”

“Other than the native creatures of the Casserly Abyss, any outsiders below the Legendary level who fall into this quicksand or swamp are likely doomed.”

It wasn’t just the quicksand.

Saga carefully sensed that even the red glow enveloping the Casserly Abyss was slowly draining his magic power, psychic energy, and strength, though this loss was slower compared to the direct devouring of the quicksand.

This energy drain wouldn’t be fatal.

But it would keep any creature in a state of constant weakness.

Staying in the Casserly Abyss, feeling the power being slowly drawn from his body, was undoubtedly a torturous ordeal.

However, Saga’s power essence remained unaffected.

The omnipresent force field energy seemed to transcend the negative effects of the Casserly Abyss, continuously gathering from all directions and flowing into Saga’s body.

With a slight tremor of his dragon wings, Saga broke free from the strong pulling force of the quicksand.

He constructed a thin layer of force field around his body to isolate himself from the negative effects of the Casserly Abyss, then hovered in mid-air, observing the surroundings, confirming that he had been banished to the first layer of the Casserly Abyss.

The first layer of the Casserly Abyss, the Mire Prison layer, was also where the Titan God of Wrath was banished.

As the initial layer of the Casserly Abyss, the Mire Prison layer was a realm composed of vast swamps and quicksand.

The River Styx, representing death, flowed freely and silently through this plane, soaking the surface. Its channels carved the soft ground into a wide, deep, eternally decaying land, turning all the spheres that made up the Mire Prison layer into swamps and quicksand.

Although there were small patches of dry land or mountains, they were exceedingly rare, like oases in a desert, often occupied by formidable abyssal prisoners.

“Abyssal prisoners. I was just fiercely combating abyssal prisoners, and now I’ve become one myself. How ironic, the abyssal prisoner is me.”

“Now the question is, if I escape the Casserly Abyss through some accidental rift and return to the material realm, will there be a corresponding ‘Deep Sea Dragon City’ to obstruct me?”

Life is unpredictable.

Saga, once a pillar against the abyssal prisoners, now found himself as one, thinking ironically.

Shaking his head, Saga gradually calmed his mind.

Time passed slowly. After waiting quietly for a while, Saga did not see Yekaterina appear.

“It seems something went wrong.”

Looking around, the space in the Casserly Abyss, covered in a layer of red glow, was incredibly stable. After Saga was banished here, it returned to calm, with no further fluctuations.

In the material realm, Yekaterina had entered the twisted space region with Saga but did not appear here.

The Golden Dragon frowned slightly, looking at the endless quicksand, deep in thought.

“The Titan God of Wrath’s final banishment method was probably chaotic and disordered. Yekaterina and I were banished to different spheres within the Casserly Abyss?”

“Or perhaps, different locations within the same sphere?”

If it were the latter, the chances of meeting again were still high, but if it were the former, the chances of reunion were slim.

Saga looked up, gazing into the sky.

Beyond his spherical world, he could vaguely see more spherical worlds extending infinitely, seemingly endless.

According to the planar knowledge recorded in the dragon’s heritage, each layer of the Casserly Abyss contained countless spheres, strung together like planets, extending infinitely in two opposite directions. Between the spheres lay a void of darkness, mercilessly devouring all life, making it nearly impossible to traverse.

Yekaterina had followed him into the Casserly Abyss but was banished to a different place.

Realizing this, she was probably furious by now.

Saga silently mourned for the unfortunate abyssal prisoners who appeared beside her.

Then, he immersed his mind into the Dragon Soul Sanctuary.

The Dragon Soul Sanctuary, once flourishing with the presence of many dragon souls, had now become desolate, with only a few dragon souls resting within, extremely weak.

Yet, despite this, Saga felt a wave of satisfaction from their soul fluctuations.

These were mostly metal dragon souls, with strong racial bonds and moral values.

Burning themselves, they had followed Saga to fight for the Deep Sea Dragon City, witnessing Saga’s triumph over the rampaging Titan God of Wrath, ending the war, leaving them content, with no regrets even if they perished.

“Everyone, you no longer have any lingering attachments. You don’t need to stay in the Dragon Soul Sanctuary anymore.”

“Leaving the Dragon Soul Sanctuary, you can enter the Divine River and start a new life in a new form.”

The Divine River, also known as the Sea God River, flowed through upper planes like Paradise Peak and the Elysium Realm, allowing orderly souls to become celestial beings in harmonious, orderly upper planes.

Such as celestial dragons, Einherjar, Seraphim, and so on.

Or, they could reincarnate in the material realm.

Similarly, the River Styx flowed through lower planes like the Casserly Abyss, the Abyssal Abyss, and the Ninefold Hell. The souls of the wicked would likely enter a lower plane through the River Styx, twisted by the plane’s rules into lower plane beings, with almost no chance of reincarnation in the material realm.

If a soul had faith, and that faith was strong enough, it would be directly retrieved by a deity from the Divine River or the River Styx, becoming a part of the deity’s realm, living eternally with the god.

Hearing Saga’s words, the remaining dragon souls in the Dragon Soul Sanctuary shook their heads.

Among them, the soul of an Ancient Silver Dragon, though extremely weak, raised its head, looking at the golden dragon eyes in the sanctuary’s sky, and said:

“Saga Alzhus, the Deep Sea Dragon City no longer needs us, but you do.”

“You led us to fight the Titan God of Wrath, fulfilling our regrets, dying a worthy death.”

“We acknowledge you as the master of dragon souls, willing to continue fighting alongside you in the dark Casserly Abyss.”

The dragon souls knew Saga’s plight, knew he was banished to the Casserly Abyss by the self-destructing divine core of the Titan God of Wrath, and chose not to leave him at this time.

Saga was silent for a moment, then slowly said:

“With you by my side, this journey in the Casserly Abyss shouldn’t be dull.”

The power of dragon souls was a valuable asset, and using it didn’t necessarily mean burning the dragon souls. The previous battle with the Titan God of Wrath was too fierce, requiring all their strength, leaving no room for holding back, resulting in most dragon souls burning out.

In fact, in ordinary battles, Saga’s use of dragon soul power would only consume some of their energy, not burn them out. He could also replenish their energy with other souls. The souls of other creatures absorbed into the Dragon Soul Sanctuary were also burned out in the battle with the Titan God of Wrath to recharge the dragon souls.

Saga could directly use the soul power of other creatures, but it was far less effective than the dragon souls’ support, given the lack of racial compatibility. When needed, it was better to use them to recharge the dragon souls.

After a brief communication, Saga’s consciousness left the Dragon Soul Sanctuary and looked around again.

In the vast quicksand region, there were hardly any signs of life. Even within his extended perception range, he could sense only a few creatures, the atmosphere dead and desolate, as if he were the only one in the world, along with the omnipresent oppressive red glow.

The invasion of the Deep Sea Dragon City by so many abyssal prisoners was due to the Titan God of Wrath rallying his followers for the attack.

But in reality, the Casserly Abyss was predominantly barren and lifeless.

The number of abyssal prisoners was significant, but spread across all the spheres, they seemed sparse. The most numerous were the planar creatures.

“I need to find a safe place to rest.”

The battle with the Titan God of Wrath had drained not only the dragon soul energy.

Bearing so much dragon soul power, Saga had forcibly elevated from early Legendary to demigod level, his body constantly under immense strain. Now, after the battle, waves of fatigue and drowsiness surged, making Saga eager to enter dragon slumber to recover.

And in the Casserly Abyss, besides prisoners, there were also dangerous and powerful planar creatures.

As lower plane beings, they were generally ferocious, bloodthirsty, and violent.

Having just fought a fierce battle, the weakened Saga had no intention of engaging in another fight.

Looking down at the pervasive quicksand, Saga shook his head slightly.

In the material realm’s desert, burying himself in the sand for dragon slumber would be a good choice. Young Saga had done so when he first entered Moon Bay. But here, the quicksand carried energy-draining magic, burying himself would be akin to self-burial.

“In my perception range, there’s no dry land or mountains, only quicksand and swamps.”

“According to the heritage records, the Mire Prison layer is named for its swamps, which are more dangerous than the quicksand regions. Without suitable land to rest on, staying in the quicksand region is better than venturing into the swamps.”

“Should I drag my weary body to search for suitable dry land and mountains, or find a way to rest in the quicksand region?”

As Saga pondered his next move, his eyes flickered, sensing a giant creature moving beneath the quicksand, seemingly targeting him.

Looking down.

The quicksand spun rapidly, forming a massive vortex of countless gravel.

Whoosh!

A long body covered in wrinkled and grayish rough skin, with a circular mouthpiece over twenty meters in diameter, appeared before Saga. Inside were layers of sharp teeth arranged in a spiral, like a meat grinder.

This terrifying mouthpiece burst from the quicksand, aiming to devour Saga from below.

The ferocious planar creatures in the Casserly Abyss could sense the weakness of other beings and would follow them. This was a desolate and lifeless place, but also full of dangers.

The weakened Saga had attracted a giant worm from the Casserly Abyss.

Looking at the giant worm attacking him, sensing its roughly third-tier Legendary life aura, Saga’s eyes sharpened as he muttered:

“Just because I’m weakened doesn’t mean you can challenge me.”

Zzzap!

A bolt of electromagnetic lightning descended from the sky, striking the giant worm’s open mouth.

The golden dragon hovering in mid-air remained still, while the giant worm’s body twisted and trembled, falling back into the quicksand. After a few breaths, it stopped moving, lifeless, its internal organs almost entirely destroyed by the lightning, leaving only a layer of skin.

Though the demigod state was temporary, Saga had gained significant insights.

In the demigod state, he had a deeper understanding of the basic forces.

Now, even though he had exited the demigod state, the understanding and knowledge remained. Though he couldn’t replicate the demigod’s peak due to slower thinking speed, it still greatly enhanced his early Legendary prowess.

His already formidable combat power was further strengthened, making it easy to kill a same-tier worm even in a weakened state.

In the vast multiverse of the Great Ring, there were now very few beings of the same tier who could match Saga, if any at all.

After killing the giant worm, Saga planned to leave, randomly choosing a direction to fly in a straight line, enduring the fatigue to see if he could find dry land or mountains.

But before that, Saga noticed the rough worm skin left behind.

“This worm emerged from the quicksand.”

“It can resist the quicksand’s devouring.”

Saga pondered for a moment, then extended his dragon claw towards the quicksand below.

Whoosh. Countless gravel scattered, and the worm skin, which had been slowly sinking, was lifted by an invisible force, landing in Saga’s claw, hundreds of meters long.

“Let’s give it a try.”

Electromagnetic force turned into countless arcs, attaching to the worm skin, then wrapping it around Saga’s body, securing it in place.

Clad in the worm skin, Saga dove into the quicksand below.

Feeling a slight pressure, Saga nodded slightly, “As expected, this worm’s skin can resist the quicksand’s erosion.”

He had only been in the Casserly Abyss for a few minutes.

Saga had already discovered some valuable knowledge that some abyssal prisoners had paid for with blood and death—using the skin or shells of certain planar creatures allowed movement in the dangerous quicksand or swamp regions.

“This knowledge wasn’t recorded in the dragon’s heritage.”

“Did no dragon ever reach the Casserly Abyss, or did those who did never leave?”

Saga exhaled, silently sensing a spark within his heart.

“The spark given by the Red Dragoness. It’s the most likely thing to get me out of the Casserly Abyss, but it could also lead me to unknown dangers in the universe.”

A spark capable of inter-multiverse teleportation should easily cross a single plane.

“No rush to use it. The Casserly Abyss can’t drain my power essence, so the threat isn’t that great.”

“I’ll stay for a while, see if there’s another way out.”

“If there’s no other way and I can’t stand the Casserly Abyss anymore, I’ll use the spark. I also need to find Yekaterina.”

As he thought, Saga’s mind gradually slowed, and drowsiness surged.

“After this dragon slumber, I should at least reach mid-tier Legendary.”

Sinking deep into the quicksand, the golden dragon slowly entered a slumber.

Meanwhile.

In this same sphere, there was a continuous mountain range, with one particularly majestic peak reaching an astonishing height.

This peak, slightly tilted, pointed towards an adjacent sphere, with a rare spatial vortex above, directly connecting to the neighboring sphere. In the adjacent sphere, a similar tilted peak pointed back, also with a spatial vortex above.

Moreover.

In this mountain range, there was a grand palace complex, with a circular theater, intersecting corridors, and numerous giants—the Furious Titans—gathered before a central statue.

Gazing at the cracked and collapsing statue of the God of Wrath, the Furious Titans were heartbroken, kneeling in groups, weeping bitterly.

Amid their wails, blood rain fell from the sky.

After an unknown period, a demigod Titan suppressed the sorrow of their god’s death, eyes burning with rage.

“Our king is dead, our god is dead! He died in the material realm trying to free us from the Casserly Abyss!”

“Upon his fall, he banished the god-slaying dragon here.”

The Titan God of Wrath, in his final moments, had delivered a divine message to his followers. They knew who had caused their god’s fall and knew that the banished foe only had Legendary-level power in the abyss.

“Loyal subjects of the Titan King, tell me, what should we do?”

The demigod Titan asked in a deep voice.

“Revenge! Revenge! Avenge our god!”

The Titans’ furious roars echoed through the sky.
