Deep within the Deep Sea Dragon City, in the palace of the Golden Dragonfather.
Gazing upon the two young dragons sitting side by side, much like they did in their Young Dragon stage, yet now their size and power somewhat defied common understanding, the Golden Dragonfather mused:
“Saga, Yekaterina, you have both grown far stronger than I was at your age.”
“My children, I have a premonition that you will both reach heights beyond my imagination, and I will always take pride in that.”
At first, the two young dragons were not even as long as one of the Golden Dragonfather’s claws, but now they had grown to half his size, and their rate of progress in strength was so astonishing that it left the entire Dragon City speechless in disbelief.
Turning his head towards Saga, the Golden Dragonfather inquired:
“Saga, have you seen your mother recently? How is she? If I remember correctly, the kingdom that once ruled over Thorn Isle has always been at odds with her.”
The Red Dragoness had not informed the Golden Dragonfather about being chosen for a mission in an alternate dimension, and shortly after her departure, the Deep Sea Dragon City fell into a crisis brought about by the abyssal rift. During this time, the Golden Dragonfather had not left his post and had no chance to visit Thorn Isle, thus he was unaware of the Red Dragoness’s departure and assumed she was still on her territory.
After hearing his father’s words, Saga thought carefully and then shook his head, saying, “Mother has left the material realm; she is not on Thorn Isle.”
On one hand, telling the Golden Dragonfather the truth directly.
Due to concerns about the Red Dragoness’s safety, it would inevitably affect the Golden Dragonfather’s mood, distracting him. In high-level combat, the tide of battle changes in the blink of an eye, and any lapse could be swiftly exploited by the enemy, a dangerous negative impact.
On the other hand, if Saga lied, he would certainly be seen through by the Golden Dragonfather.
So Saga’s response was ambiguous, not exactly a lie, but not the whole truth either.
“Left the material realm?”
The Golden Dragonfather was slightly taken aback, falling silent for a while, but did not press further.
For beings above the Legendary level, it was quite common to leave the material realm and venture into the outer planes. With the Red Dragoness’s strength, which had surged after devouring a Demon Duke, as long as she didn’t provoke the deities, she would be more than capable of making her way in the outer planes.
But what the Golden Dragonfather couldn’t imagine was that the Red Dragoness hadn’t gone to the outer planes, but had left this multiverse entirely for an alternate dimension.
“Leaving the material realm might be for the best. The world is now in turmoil, and not without danger.”
“With your mother’s current state, leaving the material realm should allow her to grow stronger more quickly, with few beings capable of threatening her.”
The Golden Dragonfather was well aware that the Demon Duke sealed within the Red Dragoness was no ordinary being, a lord of demons comparable to a mid-tier deity and a standout among them. Had it not been for the fact that the Platinum Dragon God had nearly killed him and the Red Dragoness had opportunistically sealed him, reinforced by the mysterious Time Dragon, even an exceptional Red Dragoness would not have been able to imprison such a Demon Duke.
That being said, as long as she could successfully draw power from the Demon Duke and barring any unforeseen accidents, the Red Dragoness was bound to grow rapidly and become unstoppable.
Therefore, the Golden Dragonfather wasn’t too worried.
Coming back to his senses and looking down at the golden young dragon before him, the Golden Dragonfather smiled slightly, coiling his massive dragon body into a more comfortable position rather than sitting upright, and then asked Saga with interest, “You seem to have experienced a great deal outside, possessing not only formidable strength but also a special aura far beyond your peers, as well as a maturity that belies your age.”
“My child, tell me about your adventures. Though I couldn’t be there with you, at least I won’t be completely in the dark.”
Yekaterina also looked at Saga with a curious expression.
She had thought that by honing herself in the crucible of war at the Deep Sea Dragon City, she would have surpassed Saga, but after a brief test of strength, she realized this might not be the case.
Most of her experiences weren’t worth hiding.
After some thought, Saga carefully chose his words and began to recount his encounters after leaving the Deep Sea Dragon City, as well as the changes in the world’s political landscape, painting a vivid picture.
He spoke of defeating Legends before reaching that status himself, sweeping through the Near Seas nations and being hailed as the King of the Near Seas, then traveling to the Yar Continent, witnessing the descent of deities in the Sky City of the Skyrealm Empire, and discovering that he himself was the vessel for such a divine presence. He also recounted his journey to the Dragon Soul Sanctuary and his new understanding of the history buried in the sands of time, the Dragonfall War…
In his tale, Saga selectively omitted certain details that were not suitable for disclosure, but overall, the story remained largely accurate.
“The Flower of the World? Haha, that’s a fine title, Saga, my brother as beautiful as a flower, you must like it,” Yekaterina teased.
“The Goddess of Beauty forsaking her own followers to descend in your body… I’ve always heard that this higher deity has quite the personality, and it seems to be true.”
“The Shark Empire and the Mermaid Empire, these two great empires have never gotten along. Now, with the loss of the Deep Sea Dragon City’s mediation, it’s only natural that war has broken out.”
“The Platinum Dragon God and the Chromatic Dragon Queen’s bloody battle during the Dragonfall War… So that’s what was missing from our heritage, that part of history.”
“…”
Time passed quietly, like the rhythmic flow of the deep sea.
Within the bright palace, the Golden Dragonfather and Yekaterina listened to Saga’s experiences, occasionally sharing their thoughts, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
But such moments were always fleeting.
“The Ratmen of the underworld are a plague upon the entire planet… Creatures like these, the more you kill, the better.”
As soon as the Golden Dragonfather finished speaking, having just heard about Saga’s substantial Ratmen kills in the underworld, he seemed to receive some message, then suddenly lifted his head, his gentle gaze sharpening.
Rising to his feet and extending his dragon claw, he gently touched the heads of Saga and Yekaterina, his voice grave:
“Rest time is over, Saga, Yekaterina, are you ready for a blood-soaked battle?”
“The new assault on the abyssal rift is about to begin.”
As long as the abyssal rift existed, if left unchecked, more and more abyssal prisoners would escape, growing exponentially and putting immense pressure on the dragons of the Deep Sea Dragon City. Therefore, attacks on the abyssal rift could not be paused for long.
Even if they couldn’t successfully take down the rift, they had to exterminate the abyssal prisoners to prevent more from reaching the Golden Sea.
Hearing the Golden Dragonfather’s words.
Both Saga and Yekaterina’s spirits were lifted, and they immediately responded, “Of course, we’ve been eager to start.”
The Golden Dragonfather nodded.
“I see the surging battle will in your eyes, good. We Dragon Kind do not tolerate cowardice.”
War is dangerous, but the Golden Dragonfather would not let his offspring shy away from the flames of battle. Saga and Yekaterina, who had reached the Legendary level, were past the need for protection; they were now strong enough to shield their kin with their own power.
“Father, let me go to the fiercest Ginia battle zone. Let us father and son fight side by side and strike fear into those abyssal prisoners.”
The Ginia battle zone was the most intense and crucial.
Since he was there, Saga didn’t want to engage in minor skirmishes; he decided to go straight to the most intense battlefield.
But the Golden Dragonfather had his own thoughts and did not agree.
Looking at the young dragon with profound Dragon Might and an extraordinary aura, the Golden Dragonfather shook his head.
“No, you go to another battle zone.”
Upon hearing the Golden Dragonfather’s arrangement, Yekaterina’s tail flicked, and she winked at Saga, saying, “Saga, you go shine in another minor battle zone. I will continue in the Ginia battle zone, participating in decisive battles.”
The Golden Dragonfather glanced at Yekaterina, and just as she was feeling smug, he poured cold water on her, saying:
“You, like Saga, will also go to other battle zones.”
At these words, Saga looked at Yekaterina with a teasing smile.
“Yekaterina, we can shine together in other battle zones now.”
He said jokingly.
“Father, I’ve been to the Ginia battle zone several times, and my performance is there for all to see. All dragons know I am capable of fighting there. I want to stay in the Ginia battle zone.”
Yekaterina was slightly displeased.
To Yekaterina’s request, the Golden Dragonfather, who had been gentle moments ago, now wore a stern expression and commanded solemnly:
“Yekaterina, follow orders!”
“To win this war against the outer planes, we must pool our wisdom and play our cards right, without a single mistake.”
“This concerns the future of the entire Deep Sea Dragon City.”
Seeing Yekaterina fall silent, the Golden Dragonfather’s expression softened a bit as he spoke earnestly:
“The situation in the Ginia battle zone is currently at a stalemate. We can’t break through the abyssal rift there, but the abyssal prisoners escaping from it can’t break through our encirclement either.”
“With Saga and Yekaterina joining, we could alleviate some pressure in the Ginia battle zone, but it’s still difficult to change this stalemate and turn the tide.”
“My expectations for you go beyond that.”
His voice paused, and the Golden Dragonfather’s gaze wandered over Saga and Yekaterina, speaking gravely:
“Saga, Yekaterina, I know of your strength. Although you have only just become Legends, in some ways, even the ancient dragons of higher Legendary rank can’t compare to you. You could be said to be the most critical beings below demigods.”
In all aspects, Saga and Yekaterina’s offensive capabilities were at their peak, each action bringing devastating destruction, highly efficient in dealing with abyssal prisoners. With even a slight advantage, they could destroy the prisoners’ defenses with overwhelming force and seal the abyssal rift successfully.
“Not sending you to the Ginia battle zone isn’t underestimating your strength. On the contrary, as your father, I trust you both completely and forever, which is why I’ve decided to entrust you with an even more important mission, a decision also recognized by the other ancient dragons.”
While resting in the palace, the Golden Dragonfather was also silently communicating with other ancient dragons, not truly relaxing.
“Now, with the situation in the Ginia battle zone at a deadlock, and it being difficult to break from within, we must look to the other battle zones outside.”
“Besides the Ginia battle zone, there are three other dangerous battle zones in the Golden Sea with large abyssal rifts. Although these three dangerous zones don’t have demigods, they do contain many fierce abyssal prisoners of high Legendary rank. To deal with these three zones, the high-ranking Legendary dragons of the Deep Sea Dragon City have had to invest heavily.”
Hearing this, Yekaterina, who was hot-headed and not usually inclined to think things through, was somewhat puzzled.
But Saga’s eyes flickered with understanding, his thoughts racing, and he roughly grasped the Golden Dragonfather’s intent.
“Father, you mean to say, let Yekaterina and I focus our efforts on clearing these three dangerous zones first, then gather all the high-ranking Legendary dragons to join the Ginia battle zone, causing a shift in quantity to bring about a qualitative change and reverse the stalemate there.”
Saga spoke thus.
While demigod beings were strong, they couldn’t completely ignore high-ranking Legends. If all the high-ranking forces of the Deep Sea Dragon City could be concentrated, led by a demigod dragon, they could break through the Ginia battle zone in one fell swoop.
Hearing Saga’s coherent explanation, Yekaterina had a flash of insight and said, “Saga, my foolish brother, I didn’t expect you to think the same as me.”
Saga was surprised; he hadn’t expected his dragon sister to have such a thick-skinned and cunning side.
At the same time, the Golden Dragonfather showed an approving look.
“Yes, in the most efficient way, deal with the three dangerous zones before stronger abyssal prisoners arrive, freeing the high-ranking forces of the Deep Sea Dragon City. That’s the important task I need you and Yekaterina to complete.”
The smile slowly faded, and the Golden Dragonfather’s expression became very serious as he said, “The abyssal rift in the Ginia battle zone is still expanding, and during this period, not a single demigod being has been transported.”
“This is not a good sign. The ancient dragons and I unanimously believe that behind the Ginia battle zone’s abyssal rift, perhaps a being above demigods is attempting to descend.”
“Delay breeds trouble. Although the material realm has a limit to the power it can exert, which is demigods, the nature of the power displayed is entirely different due to the difference in planes. If a being above demigods descends here, then we will have trouble.”
The Golden Dragonfather took a deep breath and declared resoundingly:
“Saga, Yekaterina, the task you shoulder is of utmost importance.”
“Whether the Deep Sea Dragon City can concentrate all its forces and break through the abyssal rift in the Ginia battle zone before the arrival of a being above demigods depends largely on you.”
The Golden Dragonfather said earnestly:
“Once you’ve dealt with the three dangerous zones, we’ll fight side by side, showing the abyssal prisoners the might of our family, making them tremble at the name of Alzhus!”
The computer hasn’t arrived yet, typing with voice is slow and laggy, so that’s all for now.
