Chapter 135 – Sudden betrayal

"You."

The Storm Giant leader, sluggish in movement, lifted his head to look at Saga. The simple act of raising his head seemed to exhaust all his strength.

He didn't finish what he wanted to say.

Thud!

With a dull sound, the giant's massive and wounded body staggered to the ground. His life force flickered away like a candle in the wind, rapidly fading, with a particularly noticeable blood hole piercing through his chest.

"Well done."

"Brilliant job!"

Praises from the Topaz Dragon and the Brass Dragon came simultaneously.

Along with the roars of other giants: "Weym, my love (brother)!"

The female Storm Giant and the heavy sword-wielding Storm Giant who had come to the rescue showed pained expressions, letting out sorrowful roars. Storm Giants, being sapient beings with developed social relations, place great importance on bonds, and family ties are often strong.

The Topaz Dragon Lord's gaze turned cold as he looked at the other Storm Giants, then he bared a ferocious grin.

"You should be more concerned about saving your own lives, you filthy, helpless Giants!"

Whoosh!

With a flap of his wings, the Topaz Dragon Lord lunged at the Storm Giants who had come as reinforcements, ignoring his own injuries. Together with the Brass Dragon, they quickly overpowered them.

Saga shifted his gaze to the sixth-tier female Storm Giant.

At this moment, she was staring at him with eyes filled with immense hatred, almost tangible, as if flames were burning fiercely within.

Her mate had died at Saga's hands. How could she not hate him?

"I feel your hatred," Saga said calmly, as he took to the air, soaring over the chaotic battlefield towards the female Storm Giant.

Initially, Saga's target had been the female Storm Giant.

However, as the Brass Dragon attacked the Storm Giant leader, the reinforcements summoned by the opposition also made their move, preventing the Brass Dragon from effectively aiding the Topaz Dragon Lord, resulting in a stalemate.

Thus, Saga changed his strategy.

High-ranking Storm Giants were the priority targets to be eliminated.

He temporarily abandoned the original plan to target the female Storm Giant, waiting for the right moment. When the Storm Giant leader was locked in combat with the Topaz Dragon Lord, Saga launched a sudden and thunderous assault, plunging the opponent into the abyss of death.

Saga's overall strength was still inferior to that of high-tier lifeforms.

But his skills were incredibly powerful, not to be ignored even by high-tier beings, especially the annihilating dragon breath. Even legendary creatures that could dominate a region, if hit directly, Saga was confident he could inflict serious damage.

In the end, the Storm Giant leader met his demise to Saga's annihilating breath.

"Still distracted."

Glorithia, the Blue Dragon, growled lowly, her powerful wings striking the female Storm Giant with such force that she was sent flying sideways.

Saga dived down to attack at the same time.

Before the dragon arrived, the flapping of his wings generated a massive lateral force wave, carrying battlefield smoke, flames, and dust, forming a murky gravitational blade that slashed at the female Storm Giant.

As the female Storm Giant hit the ground, she rolled with the momentum.

Boom!

The gravitational blade struck the earth, leaving a long, narrow fissure.

Immediately after, the female Storm Giant tore off her half-destroyed armor with one hand and swung her war hammer around, hurling it at the oncoming Golden Dragon.

Clang!

With a sweep of his wings, Saga deflected the heavy hammer with his wing covered in a deflecting force field. The hammer flew off course, crushing the head of a wolf giant and toppling an allied warrior.

With Saga's current computational power, he could only maintain chaotic deflections of the force field.

To weave a 'filter net' that differentiated between harmful and harmless, and to precisely control the direction of deflection, would require many times more meticulous computational power than he currently possessed, which was beyond his reach for now.

The hammer did not harm Saga.

However, his movements were slightly affected, causing him to pause.

At the same time, the weaponless and armorless female Storm Giant used the Storm Levitation Technique again, leaping into the air and jumping beside two young Storm Giants.

"Samweir, Edith, follow me!"

The female Storm Giant's eyes blazed with hatred, but she forcibly suppressed her vengeance because, aside from her deceased mate, she had two offspring to protect.

"No, Mother! Take Edith and leave, I will stay and avenge Father!"

Looking at the pursuing Golden Dragon and Blue Dragon, and fixating his gaze on Saga, the fourth-tier young Storm Giant was filled with rage and said.

"Don't linger in battle! Hurry and go."

The female Storm Giant's voice was urgent.

However, the young Storm Giant, blinded by rage and having lost his reason, did not heed his mother's words. Instead, he crouched and leaped from the spot, colliding with the Golden Dragon like a cannonball.

In the young Storm Giant's eyes, the fact that Saga had killed his father was solely because his father had already been gravely injured in the battle with the Topaz Dragon Lord, thus being taken advantage of by Saga.

The thought of his powerful father being sneakily killed filled him with indignation.

"I will twist off your head!" the young Storm Giant roared, leaping towards the Golden Dragon.

Zap!

Brilliant sparks of electricity lit up on the young Storm Giant's fist. As the distance closed, he aimed a punch at the Golden Dragon's head.

The young Storm Giant sneered, eager to see the panic on his opponent's face.

However, what met his eyes was a pair of Golden Dragon pupils that radiated only contempt.

Ssst!

The radiant dragon claw struck faster than the young Storm Giant, swiftly enveloping his head completely.

The claws exerted force.

Crack!

The Storm Giant's head burst open, sharp claws tearing through flesh and reaching the skull.

A scream erupted as the young Storm Giant flailed his fists, wildly striking at Saga. But the heavy punches, capable of killing an ordinary fourth-tier lifeform on the spot, were all deflected by the invisible force field upon hitting Saga's scales. Some of the force was even perfectly redirected back, causing the young Storm Giant's fists to split open, bleeding profusely, nearly fracturing his arms.

"Ignorant of death."

Saga spoke in Dragon Tongue, his voice a whisper.

He suddenly stood upright, completely ignoring the counterattack, firmly grasping the young Storm Giant's head with one claw, while the other claw secured the giant's waist.

Crack!

With a twist, the struggle of the young Storm Giant's body came to an abrupt halt, his fists limply falling to his sides.

Saga pulled harder, and with a spray of blood, the twisted neck broke, along with a piece of the spine. The Giant's head was ripped out by the blood-soaked Golden Dragon.

This brutal scene was witnessed by many clan monsters.

Even the bloodthirsty and warlike creatures couldn't help but gasp, feeling a chill on their necks, shuddering at the display of the peculiar Golden Dragon.

"This little one, the proportion of his five-colored dragon bloodline must be high."

The Brass Dragon, noticing the scene, muttered to himself, then continued to deal with the remaining high-ranking Storm Giant alongside the Topaz Dragon Lord.

Thud, thud, thud!

The Storm Giant began to run, his great strides sending him forward. On his path, creatures like warrior horses, jackalweres, and giant-jawed hounds attempted to intercept, but they were all mercilessly swept away by his great sword.

"Hmph, trying to run?"

The Brass Dragon and the Topaz Dragon Lord relentlessly pursued, while the Shaper Caster began chanting spells, preparing a spell targeting the high-ranking Storm Giant. Shaper spells were potent, and even high-tier giants could not ignore a sixth-ring spell.

At this moment.

The tide of the battle had become clear.

With their leader fleeing, the creatures loyal to the Storm Giants were disheartened, lacking the courage and resolve to fight to the death. They either fled or surrendered their weapons, with only a few fanatical followers of the giants still fighting, but they were quickly overwhelmed and killed by the numerous True Dragon kin.

"Samweir!"

The female Storm Giant, holding a petite and frightened third-tier young Storm Giant, turned her head while running and saw Samweir's neck twisted off by Saga, letting out a mournful cry.

Saga could feel her pain and sorrow.

But he had no pity or empathy for her.

In this cruel reality of survival of the fittest, if his side were to lose, their fate would be no better, and the giants would show no mercy either.

"All creatures loyal to the giants, use all your means to intercept and disrupt the fleeing Storm Giants!"

"Those who perform well, I will grant you the chance to be reborn!"

While pursuing the female Storm Giant, Saga roared in the common tongue, his voice carrying a suggestive and enticing mental force that quickly spread across the battlefield.

Instantly.

Many creatures that were once loyal to the Storm Giants had a change in their eyes.

With the Storm Giants' cause now lost, these creatures would have to submit to the dragons. To secure favorable conditions for themselves in advance was a wise choice.

The more astute creatures began to stir.

"For the glory of bathing in dragon's light!"

A seemingly simple-minded minotaur roared and hurled his battle-axe at the fleeing female Storm Giant.

With this first act of betrayal.

Other creatures with similar intentions also sprang into action.

A barrage of attacks erupted, intercepting and disrupting the female Storm Giant's escape.

"You traitors!"

The female Storm Giant roared.

"Traitor? You were the first to abandon us!"

A creature howled back in response.

The accusation was not without merit. The Storm Giants' decision to flee when realizing the tide had turned left their followers feeling cold and dispirited, leading to defection.

The battlefield, once divided between two sides, now seemed to have turned into a siege against the giants alone.

Former allies of the giants and kin of the True Dragons all began to hinder the giants' escape, making their progress difficult.

"It's over."

A deep dragon chant rose from the sky.

Thud!

In front of the female Storm Giant, a golden meteor seemed to crash to the ground. The earth roared, and the dust kicked up was blown away by the wind. Saga stepped out from the midst, striding forward.
