Vol.1 – Chapter 118 – Acquaintance

Old Taoist Ge remained silent for a while, then nodded.

“Good!”

“I will open a tiny crack in the illusion, guiding your consciousness inside. Do not mention that person’s name within the illusion. The third level of Traverse Heaven will trigger a response, and we might be noticed.”

If Feng Yiju were to see the scene within the illusion, the Dragon Turtle would probably not even have its shell left.

Old Taoist Ge knew this without needing Su He to mention it.

……

Yao Guang Great World, the ancestral land of the Hechuan clan.

Su Huanian’s eyebrows were slightly furrowed. She couldn’t return to the Mysterious Wasteland in a short time.

The Yao Guang Great World was too far from the Mysterious Wasteland. Even with her cultivation level, it would take several months to cross the River of Flowing Light on a Flying Boat — and that was a direct route.

In reality, the Yao Guang Great World was a vassal of the Emperor’s Great World, and was considered an enemy of the Mysterious Wasteland. There was no direct River of Flowing Light. Traveling through the River of Flowing Light required a transfer in another world, which took even longer.

Moreover, with her status as a Traverse Heaven cultivator in the Mysterious Wasteland, if she were discovered, it would mean endless pursuit. Su Huanian was growing more anxious.

She had a very bad premonition these past few days, something must have happened to Ya Ya.

Especially today, she didn’t know why, but she felt like someone was calling her, over and over again.

Su Huanian felt a response.

Just then, the green aura above her head trembled slightly. It was a “blessing” sent by Su He. The feeling of being called became even more apparent.

Was it the Dragon Turtle?

Su Huanian sent a thread of consciousness into the green aura.

When she opened her eyes, she was next to a lake.

A giant grass turtle was beside her, and from its eyes, she could tell it was the Dragon Turtle.

Those pure eyes, it had lost its memory!

An illusion?

Wasn’t the Dragon Turtle in danger, but in a trial illusion?

Xuanqing View?

Someone had opened the Dragon Turtle’s trial illusion, and she had sensed it, sending a thread of consciousness over with the “blessing” of the green aura.

Xuanqing View was not far from the Qingyuan Sect.

Su Huanian had a thought, and this thread of consciousness rushed out of the trial illusion.

The consciousness of Old Taoist Ge and Su He fell into the trial illusion, transforming into a leopard and an old Taoist with white beard, they looked at each other.

“Did something just leave?”

Su He laughed, “This is an illusion, essentially a collection of consciousness. It’s normal for some consciousness to leak out when an opening is made. Let’s go, let’s go. I’ll go to the grass hut, you go into the forest.”

Aside from the grass hut and lake where Su He was, the rest of the illusion was a blank white. When Old Taoist Ge and Su He entered, the map was updated, and new places appeared.

The leopard waved its paw and separated from Su He, “The appearance of your elder brother Su is quite realistic.”

Su He’s current appearance was that of Su Huanian’s father, the Old Farmer. Since they were putting on a show, they had to do it thoroughly.

In the courtyard of the grass hut, Su He looked at Su Huanian. He felt like he might be hallucinating, as he had just seen two Su Huanians. One was the youthful and beautiful one in front of him. The other was cold and mature, but disappeared in a flash.

Was it an illusion?

Su He shook his head, indeed, human desires were insatiable. He knew he had always liked mature women, but one Su Huanian was enough, he dared not ask for more — it would be even better if she didn’t have a fiancé.

Su He chuckled, retracted his head into his shell, and kept bumping against the pear tree next to him.

These past few days, he had been eating vegetarian food with Su Huanian, and pears had become their main food. He would eat one and throw one to Su Huanian.

The two of them couldn’t share a pear — not even a person and a turtle could. If they shared one, they would have to throw one away.

Su Huanian smiled slightly, conjured a ball of clear water to wash the pear, and took a gentle bite. Two drops of pear juice splashed onto Su He’s head.

Su Huanian’s face turned slightly red, she subtly wiped the juice off Su He’s head. Su He blinked in confusion, thinking that Su Huanian wanted to touch his head, and stretched his neck out.

But he was lightly slapped on the head by Su Huanian’s hand.

Dark clouds gathered in the sky, the wind started to blow, and a heavy rain was about to come.

Su Huanian returned to the grass hut, while Su He retracted into his shell and guarded the door.

Soon, a heavy rain poured down, and it was pitch black even though it was only afternoon.

Thunder and lightning intertwined, a bolt of lightning flashed across, illuminating the grass hut. Inside, Su Huanian was sitting cross-legged on the wooden bed. Her graceful silhouette was cast through the window by the lightning, falling on Su He’s shell, as beautiful as a solitary orchid in a quiet valley.

The wind carried a faint fragrance that lingered, mixed with the scent of the earth, it was intoxicating.

Just then, a light flickered in the distance, and a shout came, “Huanian! My son Huanian! Hurry and save someone!”

Su Huanian turned into a residual image and rushed out of the grass hut.

Su He was stunned for a moment, then crawled after her.

On the eastern jujube tree slope, three people came, an old man with white hair and beard, a middle-aged scholar in his thirties, and a woman in her twenties.

They were apparently on a journey and were caught in the sudden rain. They had also fallen, the scholar’s face was pale and he had fainted. Su Huanian threw him onto Su He’s shell, pointed her finger in the air, and the rain parted.

She held up the woman, while the old man with white beard was energetic and didn’t need any care. He looked at Su Huanian and laughed, “My son, didn’t expect me to come, did you? Guess who I ran into?”

“I don’t want to guess.” Su Huanian said coldly. She signaled Su He to carry the man to the grass hut.The white-bearded old man awkwardly scratched his head, chuckling as he followed along.

Upon entering the courtyard, Su Huanian tossed the Fairy Sword into the air. It hovered, preventing the rain from reaching the ground. She took out an Elixir from the house and split it in two, popping each half into the mouths of the scholar and the woman.

The woman woke up with a start, looking at the Fairy Sword above her head that was splitting the rain, she was speechless. After a while, she got up and bowed to the white-bearded old man and Su Huanian, saying, “Cui’er thanks the old immortal and the fairy for saving the master and me.”

Huh?

The white-bearded old man was taken aback. Master, me, he looked at the scholar lying on the ground, who looked exactly like Feng Yiju.

Did this old boy already have a concubine?

Trouble! How did this happen?

Just then, the scholar on the ground woke up. He looked at the Fairy Sword above his head for a moment, then at Su Huanian under the eaves, he was stunned for a long time.

Poked by Cui’er at his side, he finally came to his senses. He got up and thanked the old man first, then turned to Su Huanian and said, “I am grateful to the fairy for her help. If it weren’t for the fairy, I and my… my maid would have been in danger…”

Cui’er, who was tugging at his sleeve, froze, her face pale as she looked at him.

Old Taoist covered his forehead, unsure of how to salvage the situation.

“No need!” Su Huanian’s voice was cold. “There’s firewood over there. Start a fire to warm up and dry your clothes.”

She turned and entered the house, closing the window shutters.

Did I anger the fairy as soon as I woke up? Did I say something wrong? Su Huanian’s words were like a bolt from the blue, and the scholar was stunned.

The atmosphere was a bit strange, but was this grandson thinking about his wife? Su He squinted at the scholar, regretting saving him.

“Hey, Little Turtle! What are you staring at my daughter’s door for?” An old voice came with a question.

Su He turned his head and looked at Su Huanian’s father in confusion. Old man, don’t talk nonsense, I was only looking at the door when you weren’t here, now I’m watching this scholar with ill intentions!

The old man’s white beard twitched, “Have some sense, can’t you see I’m soaked? Go catch a fish for soup!”

Su He was taken aback, he didn’t want to leave at this moment, but this was Su Huanian’s father…

As he hesitated, Su Huanian’s voice rang out, “Let’s go, I’ll go with you.”

Turning around, Su Huanian was already standing outside the door, right behind him.

Su He was overjoyed and turned to crawl towards the lake, Su Huanian followed with light steps.

“Hey!” Old Taoist called out in astonishment.

“Fairy…” The scholar began.

Su Huanian beckoned, and the Fairy Sword floated over, hovering above Su He and her, shielding them from the heavy rain. The courtyard was instantly drenched.
