Chapter 312 – Dragon of Time, Legion of Fire

Azeroth.

Night Elf Empire Realm.

In the heart of a dense forest lies the main city of Aesarin, where the King of the Forest, Cenarius, strolls along a secluded path. Surrounding him are intricately designed buildings inscribed with magical runes, flowing with magical energy, embodying the aesthetic style of the night elves.

The night elves are a graceful and natural race, wielding powerful magical forces, similar to the elves of the Great Ring.

Cenarius guided the night elves in establishing a natural civilization order, witnessing their growth from weakness to today’s glory.

Currently, three-quarters of Azeroth’s land is ruled by the night elves, incorporated into the Night Empire’s territory.

This is all thanks to the most powerful elven queen in history—Azshara.

This Night Elf Queen possesses unparalleled beauty and wisdom, a formidable magical talent, and power comparable to Cenarius, the ancient demigod guardian.

Under her leadership, the Night Empire’s territory expanded to unprecedented extents.

The entire night elf race holds their queen in the highest esteem, even renaming the main city to Aesarin—meaning Azshara’s Glory.

Previously, the main city of the Night Empire was named Elundis—meaning Elune’s Eye.

Elune is one of the most revered deities in this world, honored as the Moon Goddess, with temples dedicated to her scattered throughout Azeroth.

Many rumors suggest that Cenarius, the King of the Forest, is a creation of the Moon Goddess.

The King of the Forest appears as a half-man, half-deer being.

Standing about three meters tall, supported by four hooved legs, he has a pair of golden, wise eyes, long hair like green moss cascading from his head to his shoulders, with leaves and tender branches symbolizing natural harmony growing in his hair and beard, and a pair of majestic antlers on his head.

He approached a beautifully adorned pavilion, draped with floating veils.

Seeing a graceful silhouette within, the King of the Forest frowned slightly and said, “Azshara, you are experimenting with the Well of Eternity too frequently. If anything goes wrong, it could endanger all of Azeroth.”

The Well of Eternity, a mysterious and magical lake, is considered the source of magic in Azeroth.

The Night Empire’s establishment and growth are closely tied to the night elves’ ancient discovery of the Well of Eternity and their settlement nearby.

A soft voice came from within the pavilion.

“Father Forest, you are the elder I respect the most. In my childhood, you taught me the principles of living in harmony with nature.”

“To this day, I still uphold your principles.”

“Precisely because of this, I want to delve deeper into the Well of Eternity’s energy, so that the various races of Azeroth no longer need to fight over resources, ensuring the Night Empire’s eternal glory.”

Just a fraction of the Well of Eternity’s energy has made the Night Empire the colossal entity it is today.

This most powerful queen in history is not content with this; she harbors greater ambitions, continuously experimenting with the Well of Eternity, hoping to gain more power.

“Azshara, I can see your growing ambition.”

“You have forgotten the principles of natural harmony, becoming obsessed with power and authority. If you continue down this path, it will inevitably lead to great disaster.”

Shaking his head in disappointment, the King of the Forest spoke slowly.

“Father Forest, I still respect you, despite your humiliation and distrust of me.”

The Queen’s voice was calm, carried by the wind.

“But I also hope you can respect me.”

“My guards tell me you rescued two humans who intruded into the empire’s forest. I forgive your transgression this time, but remember, it is not your duty to interfere with the Night Empire’s operations.”

The disappointment in the King of the Forest’s eyes grew more apparent.

“When you settled near the Well of Eternity, it was I who taught you how to survive, how to live in harmony with nature.”

“And now, you consider this unnecessary interference.”

With that, the King of the Forest’s figure gradually faded, leaving in disappointment.

“Father Forest, I will prove to you that I am right.”

“The Well of Eternity will make Azeroth, under the Night Empire’s rule, under my rule, an eternal and harmonious paradise.”

The Queen’s unwavering whisper came from the pavilion.

She then issued orders for the elves to intensify their experiments on the Well of Eternity.

At this moment.

Having left the elven main city, the King of the Forest, Cenarius, appeared in a forest on the city’s outskirts.

“The impending disaster, the night elves’ overuse of the Well of Eternity.”

“If it’s true, there might be a connection between the two.”

The reason he saved the two strange humans was that the King of the Forest felt a vague unease, sensing an invisible threat approaching. Thus, he saved the two who claimed to come from ten thousand years in the future, warning of an impending disaster.

Using his abilities, he created a ring of flowers, preventing them from leaving.

After his conversation with the Elven Queen, realizing her obsession with the Well of Eternity’s power, the King of the Forest grew even more concerned.

“I need to question them further.”

“If they truly come from ten thousand years in the future.”

“If the disaster is indeed caused by the Well of Eternity, I must stop Azshara’s experiments at all costs.”

A hint of sharpness appeared in the gentle eyes of the King of the Forest as he whispered to himself.

Nature has its gentle side with breezes and dews, but it also has its violent side with thunderstorms.

When necessary, the usually gentle and kind King of the Forest would resort to necessary violence.

The Elven Queen, backed by the Night Empire and supported by countless elves, held a position and authority surpassing Cenarius. However, the King of the Forest also had his own allies, a group of divine guardians similar in form to him.

At the same time.

The towering ancient trees beside him suddenly began to sway slightly, their leaves glowing with a dreamy, emerald light.

The Green Dragon Queen, the revered guardian of the Emerald Dream, her voice echoed in the King of the Forest’s mind.

“Cenarius, I have an important friend, an alien dragon who has just arrived in Azeroth. He will assist you in identifying the truth about the humans.”

“And I ask you to be his guide, helping him understand Azeroth.”

“Alright, let him come. Azeroth welcomes his arrival.”

Cenarius said with a smile.

Simultaneously, the emerald light gathered, forming a halo.

Whoosh!

Accompanied by a strong wind, a colossal dragon with a wingspan of over a hundred meters flew out, its massive form blocking out the sun, hovering above the dense forest, towering and majestic compared to the ancient trees.

In the shadow cast by the dragon.

The King of the Forest, standing only about three meters tall, seemed insignificant.

“Greetings, dragon from another world.”

“My name is Cenarius, Guardian of the Forest. I am pleased to meet you. I will be your guide, helping you understand Azeroth. Feel free to ask me anything you don’t understand.”

Calming his breath, the King of the Forest spoke kindly and gently.

He was naturally inclined to guide others; otherwise, he wouldn’t have helped the night elves establish their natural order.

An alien dragon? This was Cenarius’s first encounter, and his mentoring instincts were stirred.

“My name is Hyperion, known to the world as the Dragon of the Sun, the Golden Dragon.”

“Guardian of the Forest, I appreciate your help in advance. I am equally pleased by this meeting.”

Saga still used a false identity.

If he revealed his true name and the title of Emperor Dragon, the initial meeting with the Green Dragon Queen might not have been so harmonious. The title of Emperor Dragon sounded ominous, easily arousing fear and caution.

The title of Golden Dragon, Dragon of the Sun, sounded more positive.

As a newcomer and a passerby, Saga held a more observational attitude towards this world.

Thus, the sharpness belonging to the Emperor Dragon was temporarily restrained.

When Saga didn’t exude an unapproachable aura, he often received the trust and goodwill of surrounding creatures, just like a normal Golden Dragon of the Great Ring. Moreover, with Saga’s appearance, even non-dragon creatures would find him stunning, making it easier to gain trust.

“Take me to the two humans from ten thousand years in the future, as mentioned by the Green Dragon Queen.”

“I am quite curious about their situation.”

The Golden Dragon spoke calmly.

“Please follow me.”

The King of the Forest nodded.

With a wave of his arm, green vines broke through the soil, intertwining and extending into the sky, forming a green pathway above the forest. The half-man, half-deer King of the Forest galloped swiftly along it.

Saga flapped his wings, adjusting his speed to follow the King of the Forest.

During this process, their presence caught the attention of some night elf patrol guards. The night saber cats beneath them let out uneasy growls, refusing to move despite their riders’ commands, only daring to stand up after the Golden Dragon’s figure disappeared into the horizon.

“A golden dragon. Judging by its size, it ranks just below the five great guardian dragons.”

“I’ve never heard of such a golden dragon existing.”

“And with it is the great King of the Forest.”

Although his relationship with the Night Elf Queen was strained, Cenarius still held a significant position in the Night Empire.

“Report this to the head guard.”

Saga paid no attention to these ordinary night elves.

He sensed the presence of night elves around him, along with some strange creatures somewhat similar to certain races of the Great Ring, yet distinctly different.

As for the night elves.

At first glance, these elves resembled the drow, or fallen elves, of the Great Ring.

However, they adhered to the natural order and were not inherently evil.

“Dragons, elves, and in this vast territory, I also sense the presence of beings similar to giants.”

“Despite being different multiverses, they give birth to very similar, even almost identical species.”

“The reason behind this is worth pondering.”

Saga thought silently.

“Cenarius, how did you encounter the humans claiming to come from ten thousand years in the future? Did they appear directly before you?”

Gathering his scattered thoughts, Saga asked.

The wind made Cenarius’s green moss-like hair flutter. He thought for a moment and said:

“No, they appeared in the heart of the Night Empire with a noticeable energy fluctuation, then were captured by the surrounding guards.”

“I sensed the abnormal energy and arrived quietly, taking them away before the guards could imprison them.”

Now, the King of the Forest no longer trusted the Elven Queen and was deeply disappointed in the Night Empire he had witnessed rise, which led him to act this way.

“Their appearance was very unusual.”

“So you believe their words are likely true, but you can’t be completely sure.”

Hearing Saga’s words, the King of the Forest nodded slightly.

Before long, they arrived at the other end of the forest.

By a winding river, a ring of vibrant flowers encircled two humans sitting cross-legged, looking anxious and glancing around.

One of them tried to break out of the flower ring.

But as soon as he crossed the boundary, the flowers on the ground grew, their petals opening and enlarging, swallowing the trespassing human whole before spitting him back into the ring.

The whole process was seamless.

“Krasus, I should never have listened to your nonsense.”

“If not for you, I’d be lying on a soft silk bed, holding my newlywed beautiful elven wife, whispering sweet nothings, instead of being inexplicably transported ten thousand years back, powerless, and imprisoned by a ring of flowers.”

The speaker wore a tattered light purple robe, with faint magical fluctuations around him.

This was a human mage named Rhonin.

Opposite him was a handsome human with distinct features, Krasus.

Krasus was about to speak when his expression suddenly changed, and he looked up at the sky.

In his view, a golden dragon shadow was rapidly enlarging.

It had scales that shone like diamonds, reflecting a dreamy luster in the sunlight, with three pairs of crown-like dragon horns on its head, exuding a mysterious aura. Its wings and tail were perfectly proportioned to its body, incredibly majestic.

“What a handsome golden dragon.”

Krasus was stunned.

In an instant, the Golden Dragon and the King of the Forest landed by the river, before the two humans.

The King of the Forest raised his forefoot and gently stomped the ground.

The flower ring imprisoning the two humans sank into the ground, allowing them to move freely.

“It’s them.”

“The ones claiming to be from ten thousand years in the future, Rhonin, and the dragon stuck in human form, Krasus.”

Saga nodded slightly, then gazed at the two humans.

On the mage Rhonin, Saga sensed a weak but potent magical power. This human was at least a legendary caster, though currently weakened for some reason.

Saga sniffed the air, detecting a distinct dragon scent on him.

“What kind of dragon are you?”

Saga’s eyes glowed with a psychic light that pierced the soul.

“Red Dragon, true name Korialstrasz. Krasus is a name I commonly use in human form.”

Realizing the other was here to verify his words, and knowing that in this era, only dragons could resist the impending disaster, Krasus answered earnestly, sensing the Golden Dragon’s formidable presence.

“You claim to be from ten thousand years in the future. I’ll assume you’re telling the truth.”

“So, why are you here? How did you arrive ten thousand years in the past?”

“I am passionate about magical research. During an experiment, I heard the anguished cries of the Time King, who sensed my presence and guided me to a location.”

The Time King Nozdormu. Saga pondered.

He had heard of this being from the Green Dragon Queen.

Nozdormu was one of the five great guardian dragons of this world, the Time Guardian, Bronze Dragon King.

“Guardian dragons are merely demigods, not comparable to the Dragon of Eternity and Time who can traverse timelines at will, but they do possess some time-related powers.”

Saga thought silently, continuing to listen.

“As a fellow dragon, I couldn’t bear to see a guardian dragon in pain, so I followed its guidance.”

“Upon reaching the indicated location, a mysterious force formed a time vortex, engulfing us and transporting us here.”

“Due to the distortion of time, my body is temporarily fixed in this human form, unable to revert to dragon form, greatly weakening my power, and causing me to lose some crucial memories.”

Saga waved a claw and said:

“You mentioned a great disaster is coming. What exactly is this disaster? Where is its source?”

Krasus shook his head and said helplessly, “Perhaps due to the self-correcting power of the timeline, or maybe just coincidence, I lost the most critical memory of how the disaster specifically occurs.”

Pausing, under the gaze of Saga and the King of the Forest.

Krasus’s expression turned solemn as he said seriously:

“However, I still remember what the disaster is.”

“A plague legion of demons, known as the Burning Legion.”

“In the future, we refer to this invasion by the Burning Legion as the War of the Ancients, a devastating war that engulfed all of Azeroth.”

Saga:

A demon legion, the War of the Ancients, this was no small-scale conflict.

“The spark cannot be used consecutively in a short time. Now the spark is still weak. If this war breaks out, I fear I cannot stay out of it.”

“Wherever I go, danger and war always follow. I’m still just a teenager.”

Saga shook his head slightly.

However, despite his thoughts, he didn’t truly resist deep down.

His rapid growth and strength were closely tied to his black hole-like ability to attract various troubles and dangers.

And in Saga’s eyes, danger often came with opportunities.
