Vol.3 – Chapter 32 – There is no way to heaven

Escape!

Even though their undercover identities hadn’t been exposed, those two would certainly not let them go. It was a fight to the death upon sight.

Chu Liang retraced his steps, following the same path back to where they had encountered the three Winged Dragon Beasts. The clearing was now empty, save for a small dragon offspring smacking its lips.

It seemed to be savoring the taste of the Golden Patterned Berries, wishing for a couple more.

Plop, plop.

Two Golden Patterned Berries fell from the sky, hitting the little creature on the head, causing it to pause.

“Call your parents for help!” Chu Liang shouted as he whizzed past.

The dragon offspring seemed confused, but it quickly picked up the two berries and wobbled off to the side.

The next second, Master Mu’s figure appeared at the same spot.

His movement was extremely strange. It seemed as if his body didn’t move, but the phantom array under his feet extended rapidly, covering a hundred feet in an instant.

Then, his figure would appear at the forefront of the array, blinking forward a hundred feet. With his body as the center, the array continued to extend, and he would blink forward again.

This speed was extremely fast. After several blinks, he had already caught sight of the three figures ahead.

Although Liu Mojie was also at the sixth realm, her speed was slightly slower than his. However, she wasn’t far behind, a red light closely following him.

These two only needed a moment to catch up with Chu Liang and the others.

Just then, the sky suddenly darkened.

“Roar——”

Accompanied by a sudden roar, a pair of huge dragon wings that could block out the sun descended. The massive Winged Dragon Beast opened its mouth, revealing three rows of terrifying fangs.

It wanted to swallow Master Mu in one bite!

Whoosh——

Master Mu’s figure blinked again, appearing at another corner of the array, calmly avoiding the sudden attack, his eyes cold.

The sixth realm dragon offspring might be extremely powerful in the eyes of others, but in his eyes, it wasn’t too troublesome.

“Roar!” The Winged Dragon Beast missed its attack and immediately swung its huge wings for another strike!

Master Mu made a hand seal, and two array diagrams appeared out of thin air. One appeared in front of him, blocking the Winged Dragon Beast’s attack. The other appeared in front of the Winged Dragon Beast, hitting it with a great force!

Bang——

This array diagram actually returned all the force of the Winged Dragon Beast back onto itself!

Using the enemy’s strength against them!

The Winged Dragon Beast was knocked back dozens of feet by its own force. In just a moment, Liu Mojie had just arrived.

She pointed her finger, and a red blood sword condensed out of thin air, stabbing towards the Winged Dragon Beast.

But at this moment, a surge of killing intent rose from under her feet.

It was an ambush!

Liu Mojie retreated in shock, but it was too late. She was grazed by a mouthful of black dragon breath, melting half of her body into blood and revealing her gruesome white bones.

So, this pair of Winged Dragon Beasts was using the same tactic, one attracting the enemy’s attention in front while the other sneaked up from behind. Coupled with their familiarity with the terrain, it was a foolproof strategy!

Liu Mojie flew up, and at the same time, a red light surged from her wounded body. A red glow gradually covered the wound, and where the light passed, flesh and blood gradually filled in.

In the blink of an eye, she had recovered her complete body.

However, her torn clothes couldn’t be restored, revealing a fair and plump arm and a long leg, which seemed even more lustrous than before.

Immortal technique, Blood Rebirth!

The legendary near-immortal body that could be reborn with just a drop of blood. Although her situation wasn’t that extreme, the rapid recovery of her body with the powerful spirituality of her blood had already demonstrated her astonishing power.

She came to Master Mu’s side and stood in the air with him.

The pair of Winged Dragon Beasts also converged, crouching down, their eyes filled with murderous intent.

A great battle was about to begin.

……

At this time, Chu Liang and the others had already escaped from the dense forest in another direction. Because they didn’t know how long the pair of Winged Dragon Beasts could delay the two people from the Demon Sect, they didn’t dare to stop.

Compared to beasts, human cultivators had too many magical powers and magical weapons. Even if they couldn’t kill the pair of Winged Dragon Beasts, escaping shouldn’t be difficult, so the time they could buy was probably not much.

But not long after they escaped from the dense forest, they encountered a new crisis.

“Screech——”

A new scream sounded in the air, even more bloodthirsty and dangerous.

A red light flashed by, almost grazing Monk Pǔ Shàn. Thanks to his quick reaction, he waved his hand, and a pair of giant palms of white light slapped the invading enemy to the ground like swatting a mosquito.

The fallen beast was somewhat deformed, but it was vaguely recognizable as a bat-like creature covered in scales. It was not large, about the size of a child, and its face was extremely hideous and ugly.

“Blood Bat Dragons! Although these beasts are not strong individually, they always live in groups. If you see one, there might be hundreds or thousands!” Luo Yao said from the air.

Before her words fell, three more red lights shot up from below, attacking her!

Luo Yao flipped her hand and opened the white paper umbrella again. The white ghost shadow appeared and surrounded her, blocking the three incoming Blood Bat Dragons.

She hung the two paper umbrellas behind her, and her right hand had already drawn out the huge curved blade. With a swish, she cut down the three Blood Bat Dragons!

In the blink of an eye, the few Blood Bat Dragons seemed to have not caused much damage to the three of them.

But they all heard the rustling sound, and a red cloud rose from the hillside, covering the sky. The Blood Bat Dragon swarm was coming!Chu Liang activated his Dragon Blood Secret Technique at full strength, trying to block the swarm of Blood Bat Dragons for them. However, these Blood Bat Dragons were individually weaker and less intelligent than the Winged Dragon Beasts. They simply did not attack Chu Liang, but still launched a bloodthirsty charge at the two people beside him!

“I’ll hold them off, you two retreat first!” Chu Liang immediately shouted.

He summoned his Dustless Sword, executing the Hundred Sword Art. In an instant, hundreds of light shadows carrying dragon breath and sword qi of the Cloud Deciding Sword shuttled back and forth, forming a sword qi defense line!

Chi chi chi——

The Blood Bat Dragons that passed by were all cut down by him, many of them were not dead but could no longer pursue.

Even so, these Blood Bat Dragons did not dare to attack Chu Liang, they just wanted to bypass him. It was as if a sea of blood met a reef, only wanting to divert and pass.

Chu Liang did not completely stop here, but chased after Luo Yao and the others while harvesting the Blood Bat Dragons with the Hundred Sword Art.

These Blood Bat Dragons were also chasing them, which caused them to be constantly in Chu Liang’s sword light, killing more than a hundred in a moment.

During this process, the figures of Luo Yao and the others swept past a forest. Suddenly, all the Blood Bat Dragons stopped their pursuit.

“Ha ha ha——”

It was as if there was an invisible barrier, thousands of Blood Bat Dragons crowded outside this barrier, emitting sharp cries, the sounds piled up and were deafening.

But not one dared to cross the line.

“What kind of powerful beast’s territory is this?” Chu Liang landed, looking back at the strange behavior of the Blood Bat Dragon swarm, without any relaxation.

Their behavior was naturally not out of fear of him.

It was fear of something more powerful.

“It might not be the territory of a beast, but…” Monk Pǔ Shàn pointed to a corner of the mountain peak, “You see for yourself.”

……

Behind the towering green mountain, a pure black dragon skull was revealed. The gaps were all cast with a black gold-like material, forming a palace-like building.

The craftsmanship was rough, but somewhat terrifying.

This dragon bone obviously belonged to a pure-blooded true dragon!

What terrifying existence could turn a mature pure-blooded true dragon into a building and display it here?

It seemed that what the large group of Blood Bat Dragons feared should be this Dragon Bone Palace. Leaving this area, they would still be attacked by the dragon descendants in other places. The three of them did not rush to leave, but slowly approached.

Bypassing this green mountain ridge, they could see the full view of the giant dragon skull. It turned out that there was an endless body behind it, all cast with the same black gold.

The dragon head as high as the mountain and the winding body behind it that had no end in sight, were like a black gold Great Wall!

The giant dragon skull’s mouth was wide open, and the inside was dark like a mountain abyss.

“Shall we go in and take a look?” Monk Pǔ Shàn was very curious: “It seems that this is a special place in the secret realm. If there is an exit in the secret realm, it is very likely to be inside.”

“Okay.” Luo Yao also agreed.

Chu Liang had no objections, anyway, the situation was awkward at the moment. Going out would lead to an attack by the dragon descendants, and waiting here for Liu Mojie and the others to catch up would also be a dead end.

Might as well go in and explore.

Looking at the endless tail, Chu Liang also felt that there might be an exit hidden here.

The three of them stepped in.

The dragon head was as high as the mountain, and the huge mouth was like a city gate. When a human body walked in, it felt very small, and the inside was a dark corridor.

Although the casting technique of the dragon bone outside was rough, the carving inside was very delicate, with black gold everywhere, solemn and gorgeous. On the high corridors on both sides, there were embossed and mysterious murals.

They were vaguely scenes of ancient wars.

“This is a mural from the ancient Dragon God era. We also have a collection in Yun Que Temple, I can understand some of it.” Monk Pǔ Shàn said.

He released divine light from his eyes, instantly piercing the darkness, walking and looking at each mural.

“The first one seems to depict a young dragon whose parents were killed by enemy dragons…” Pǔ Shàn slowly interpreted: “It is lost and in pain inside, both fearful of the world due to its lonely birth, and determined to avenge its parents and clan. There is also a faint sense of pity, I was born at the beginning with nothing, I was born after…”

“Wait.” Luo Yao stopped him, “You can interpret so much from the first mural?”

“Uh, I added some speculation about its psychological activities.” Monk Pǔ Shàn said.

“Don’t speculate, there are so many murals here. By the time you finish speculating, Liu Mojie and the others will have had a baby and finished their confinement and still catch up with us.” Chu Liang also said.

“Alright.” Pǔ Shàn sighed.

“The second one is about the young dragon growing up, going out to experience, and following a powerful… Dragon God?” Pǔ Shàn exclaimed in surprise.

“How do you know that’s a Dragon God?” Chu Liang asked, looking at the mural.

“In the ancient times, dragon clan murals had some rules. Although the style was rough, only the Dragon God was allowed to wear divine light, and no other true dragon would have this divine light accompanying them.” Pǔ Shàn explained.

“I see.” Chu Liang nodded.

In ancient times, the dragon clan also had a saint at the ninth realm, known as the Dragon God.

Under its leadership, the dragon clan once became the overlord of the world. In theory, the dragon clan’s lifespan was longer than that of the demon clan, and under the leadership of this Dragon God, the dragon clan might have flourished for ten thousand years.

But somehow, the rule of the dragon clan only lasted less than a thousand years before it came to an abrupt end.

Thousands of years later, the ancient Dragon Nest collapsed, and the remaining pure-blooded true dragons all fled to the Dragon Abyss.

These were all ancient secrets, the reasons for which were no longer known to the world today. The subsequent dozen or so murals depicted the little dragon accompanying the Dragon God on his conquests in the east and west. Their opponents included not only the dragon clan but also other powerful beasts, and even the figures of humans.

During this period, the little dragon grew into a towering giant dragon. Since Liu Mojie referred to this place as the “Azure Dragon Secret Realm”, it must be the Azure Dragon, the master of the secret realm, right?

The next mural showed the Azure Dragon growing under the command of the Dragon God, eventually becoming incredibly powerful. It returned to its hometown and killed the evil dragon, avenging its parents and clan. It built a palace out of the enemy dragon’s bones as an eternal memorial.

So, this Dragon Bone Great Wall was built by the Azure Dragon using the bones of its enemy.

Moving forward, there were several murals depicting shocking wars, culminating in the Dragon God facing an infinite thundercloud descending from the heavens.

The cloud vaguely resembled celestial soldiers, or a giant hand, and was quite blurred. It seemed that the mural’s creator didn’t clearly see the situation at the time, and one could sense their fear and confusion.

“Is this…Tribulation Crossing?” Monk Pǔ Shàn guessed.

“It looks more like a battle, a fight to the death,” Luo Yao said.

“What is this?” Chu Liang noticed that in the bottom corner of the mural, there were several faintly drawn figures.

Humans rarely appeared in these dragon clan murals, but these figures didn’t seem to be simple bystanders.

Monk Pǔ Shàn shook his head, unable to decipher what had happened at the time.

Looking at the next mural, the body of the Dragon God had disappeared, leaving a huge blank space in the middle. Only the true dragons that had followed it were left, soaring in despair, a scene of madness and chaos.

There was also a complex character in the mural, which seemed to be the text of the dragon clan.

“The dragon language has long been lost, I don’t recognize this character,” Monk Pǔ Shàn said.

Chu Liang looked at it. Logically, he shouldn’t recognize it either, but a thought shot straight into his mind, allowing him to immediately understand the meaning expressed by this character.

It was complex, representing a sense of sorrow, like the roar of a hero at the end of his road. Simply understood, it was probably four words.

No way to heaven.

Good morning.
