Chapter 135 – The final area

Be adaptable!

Right!

Since all the door lights turn orange when He Gu approaches, why should he fixate on purple?

Why not just turn himself orange?

And how to turn orange?

Isn’t this puppet here to deliver an orange uniform to him?

The hidden message said, “Here, it only cares about the outcome, not the process!”

With this thought, He Gu’s eyes lit up, and he quietly asked his shadow, “If I strip off its clothes and put them on myself… can I then enter any room?”

The shadow remained silent, merely squirming twice on He Gu’s back.

He Gu let out a sigh of relief and stepped towards the puppet.

The puppet’s movements were getting faster. If this stalemate continued, He Gu’s death was certain.

Rather than being forced step by step towards death, it was better to take the chance while he still could and make a bold move.

Having made up his mind, He Gu began to unbutton the puppet’s shirt and unbuckle its belt.

Throughout the process, He Gu was actually quite nervous, squinting his eyes and staring intently at the puppet, afraid to even blink.

Soon, He Gu skillfully stripped the puppet of its shirt.

However, he encountered some trouble with the pants.

Since the puppet’s body was stiff and immobile, He Gu couldn’t move it at all, which meant he couldn’t lift its feet off the ground. The pants, after being pulled down, got stuck on the feet and couldn’t be removed.

Eventually, He Gu had no choice but to retreat about 15 meters, then he blinked.

After blinking, the bare puppet appeared about 10 meters from He Gu, while the pants remained on the ground 15 meters away.

After much effort, He Gu finally got hold of the orange uniform and changed into it right in front of the puppet.

Having done this, He Gu faced the puppet and used his phone’s front camera as a “rearview mirror,” slowly walking towards a room.

Just like before, when He Gu reached the door, the room’s door light turned orange.

He Gu took a deep breath, steeled himself, turned around abruptly, opened the door, and charged in with his neck stiff.

The moment he burst through the door, He Gu’s nervousness peaked.

After all, this was a risky move. If his judgment was wrong, rashly entering a room with an orange door light could trigger an instant-death rule and kill him on the spot!

Upon entering the room, He Gu didn’t bother with anything else and immediately turned to look at the puppet behind him.

As he turned, he saw a hammer falling towards his head.

He Gu’s pupils shrank, feeling a sharp pain on his forehead, and was instantly enveloped by a sense of impending death, his body going rigid.

At the same time, He Gu thought he heard a series of “dingling danglang” sounds, as if something had fallen to the ground.

But at that moment, He Gu couldn’t care less about those sounds, his entire body tensed up.

The puppet’s hammer had just hit his forehead!

However, after a 2-second pause, He Gu realized he seemed to be unharmed?

Aside from a lingering pain on his forehead, there were no other discomforts.

It was only then that He Gu gradually recovered from the stress response of being shrouded in death, his rigid body slowly relaxing.

The first thing He Gu did after regaining his composure was to touch his forehead, then immediately picked up his phone to use the continuously running front camera to check his forehead and face.

It seemed… there was no problem at all?

After a glance, He Gu immediately put down his phone and looked for the puppet’s figure.

Only then did He Gu notice a piece of wood scattered in front of him, with a hammer in the middle.

The pile of wood was the parts of the puppet.

Realizing this, He Gu belatedly understood.

The puppet must have followed him into the room and raised the hammer to attack him.

But the moment it entered the room… the puppet fell apart?

The hammer that hit He Gu’s forehead wasn’t swung down by the puppet, but rather, as the puppet fell apart, the raised hammer naturally fell, landing right on He Gu’s forehead…

After realizing this, He Gu let out a long breath, finally relaxing, and began to gasp for air, resting on his knees.

For nearly 40 minutes, the pressure of death from the puppet had been suffocating He Gu, even causing a physiological stress response under the oppression of the scent of death.

Now that the pressure had dissipated, He Gu felt as if his body had been drained, wanting nothing more than to sit down and catch his breath.

As He Gu gasped for air, the sharp and unpleasant voice of the shadow finally rang out again: “This puppet really has no brains, daring to barge in without the protection of the orange uniform, deserves to be dismembered, hee hee hee…”

Hearing the shadow’s voice, He Gu frowned and said, “What was going on with you just now? Why didn’t you speak?”

Clearly, the shadow knew the way to break the situation; otherwise, it wouldn’t have responded to He Gu in the end.

But if it had spoken earlier, He Gu wouldn’t have been so embarrassed.

Faced with He Gu’s questioning, the shadow let out a strange laugh: “Speak? Just moving a few times on your back to give you a hint was already a huge risk!”

“This stage was designed specifically for you, or rather, for people like you.”

“You are within the rules, so it is also bound by the rules and can only deal with you in ways that are within the rules.”

“But I am not bound by the rules. Once it detects my presence, it can ignore all rules and come straight over to smash our heads.”

“By then, you won’t even have a chance to run!”

After listening to the shadow, He Gu nodded slightly and said no more, turning to survey the room.

Only then did He Gu see clearly that this was a very “dirty and messy” workshop.

The workshop was small, probably only about fifty or sixty square meters.

An old-fashioned light bulb with very low wattage hung from the ceiling, casting a very dim light inside.

In the dim light, He Gu saw that the chaotic workshop was littered with various items and tools, and the floor was covered with a sticky black substance that made it difficult to find a place to step.

In the middle of the workshop was a two-meter square workbench, covered with dried bloodstains and dirty tools, looking like a slaughter table.

And in the farthest corner of the workshop, there was a delivery port similar to the one in the storage room.

However, this delivery port looked just as filthy, even coated with blood, grease, and other substances, and a foul smell was faintly detectable.

As He Gu was examining the disgusting delivery port, the shadow’s sharp and unpleasant voice rang out again: “Just one last step!”

“That’s the place! Hurry! Go in!”

“Through there, you’ll reach the final area!”
