Chapter 79 – Mystical Totem

A wisp of black mist floated before Ye Qiu’s eyes, so thin it resembled a strand of hair. If one didn’t look carefully, it would be impossible to notice.

“Go!”

Ye Qiu softly uttered a word, and instantly, the wisp of black mist circled the room once before drifting out the door.

Whoosh—

Ye Qiu quickly dashed out.

Dragon King and Zhao Yun had no idea what was happening. Seeing Ye Qiu rush out, they followed him in a hurry.

Once outside, they found Ye Qiu pacing back and forth in the corridor, as if searching for something.

“Ye Qiu, what are you looking for?” Zhao Yun asked.

Ye Qiu didn’t answer, continuing to pace the corridor. Finally, he stopped at the door, his gaze fixed on it.

He saw the wisp of black mist lingering on the door.

“Brother Zhao, get me a glass of water,” Ye Qiu said.

Zhao Yun fetched a bottle of mineral water from the room and handed it to Ye Qiu. Ye Qiu quickly unscrewed the cap and poured the entire bottle over the door.

“Little Ye, what are you doing?” Dragon King was baffled by Ye Qiu’s actions.

“We’re about to get a clue about the murderer,” Ye Qiu said, his eyes glued to the door.

After half a minute.

Zhao Yun couldn’t help but ask, “Ye Qiu, where’s the clue? I don’t see anything…”

“Found it!”

Before Zhao Yun could finish his sentence, Ye Qiu exclaimed that he had found it. Zhao Yun immediately looked at the door, taking two steps back in shock, exclaiming, “Why is there a snake here?”

A black snake gradually appeared on the door.

It wasn’t a real snake but a snake-shaped pattern.

The pattern was the size of a fist, with the snake’s body coiled and its head raised, mouth slightly open, and a crimson tongue flickering, lifelike.

Most strikingly, the snake’s eyes emitted a faint green glow.

Ye Qiu stared at the snake’s eyes for a while, sensing an eerie aura emanating from it.

“Ye Qiu, is this left by the murderer?” Zhao Yun pointed at the snake pattern and asked.

“Most likely.”

“This pattern is so strange. Just looking at it gives me chills,” Zhao Yun said.

“Dragon King, you’re knowledgeable. Do you know what this pattern is?”

Ye Qiu turned to Dragon King, noticing his teeth clenched, eyes blazing with uncontrollable fury. Pointing at the snake pattern, he growled, “It’s it! It’s it!”

“Dragon King, what’s wrong?” Ye Qiu asked, puzzled by Dragon King’s anger.

Seeing Dragon King’s reaction, Zhao Yun suddenly thought of something and asked, “Dragon King, does this pattern have something to do with the person who poisoned you…”

“Yes, they’re in cahoots,” Dragon King said, his face full of rage.

Realizing that Dragon King recognized the pattern, Ye Qiu asked again, “Dragon King, what is this pattern?”

Dragon King took a deep breath, controlling his anger, and said, “This is no ordinary pattern. It’s the totem of the Shaman God Sect.”

“The Shaman God Sect? What’s that?” Ye Qiu asked.

“You don’t even know the Shaman God Sect?” Zhao Yun looked at Ye Qiu in disbelief, as if he were an alien.

Ye Qiu said, “Before today, I hadn’t even heard of the Dragon Gate.”

“Little Ye isn’t part of the underworld, so it’s normal he doesn’t know about the Shaman God Sect,” Dragon King explained to Ye Qiu. “The Shaman God Sect is a very mysterious organization.”

“Oh?” Ye Qiu’s eyes showed curiosity.

Dragon King continued, “The Shaman God Sect originated in Miaojiang. Although their influence isn’t as vast as the Dragon Gate, in my opinion, they’re even more terrifying.”

“Why?”

“Because the Dragon Gate operates by rules, but the Shaman God Sect never follows any rules. Anyone who offends them meets a tragic end. I’m one of them.”

“You?” Ye Qiu seemed to understand something, looking at Dragon King in shock. “Could it be that the poison in you…”

“Yes, it was done by the Shaman God Sect,” Dragon King gritted his teeth. “Years ago, I saved a severely injured man on the roadside. At that time, I didn’t know he was a disciple of the Shaman God Sect. I took him home and got a doctor to treat his wounds. After he recovered, he stayed with me for two years.”

“I thought he was staying out of gratitude, genuinely wanting to follow me. Later, I found out he stayed to learn about my background.”

“Later, I became the twelfth-ranked expert on the Tiger Rankings, ruling the underground forces of Jiangzhou, full of vigor.”

“But I never expected that bastard to challenge me.”

“I didn’t take it seriously at the time, thinking he just wanted to spar with me, so I agreed.”

“Who knew, during the fight, he went all out. I had no choice but to injure him.”

“It was then that he poisoned me and disappeared.”

“Later, when I had people thoroughly investigate his background, I found out he was a disciple of the Shaman God Sect. Over the years, I’ve been secretly searching for him and the Shaman God Sect but found nothing useful.”

Hearing this, Ye Qiu interrupted Dragon King, “That doesn’t make sense. With the Shaman God Sect’s power, how could you not find any useful information?”

“That’s the mystery of the Shaman God Sect,” Dragon King said. “Their headquarters is in Miaojiang, but no one knows the exact location.”

“The Shaman God Sect has branches in some major cities, with no more than ten people in each branch. Every disciple of the Shaman God Sect possesses unique skills. Some are experts in assassination, some in tracking, some in poisoning… It’s even said that some can perform witchcraft.”

Witchcraft?

Ye Qiu was startled.

Is there really someone who can perform witchcraft in this world?

“In short, none of the Shaman God Sect disciples are simple. If they weren’t so evil, it’s no exaggeration to say they would have become the world’s number one sect long ago.”

Dragon King pointed at the snake pattern on the door, “Wherever the Shaman God Sect’s totem appears, it means a disciple of the Shaman God Sect has been there.”

“So, the person who tried to assassinate the Ninety-Thousand-Year-Old is a disciple of the Shaman God Sect?” Zhao Yun asked in shock.

Dragon King nodded, “Most likely. I was wondering who would be so bold as to try to assassinate the Ninety-Thousand-Year-Old. Now, seeing this totem, I understand. It must be the Shaman God Sect. They are highly skilled and extremely vicious. There’s nothing they wouldn’t dare to do.”

“Dragon King, I have a question. Why does the Shaman God Sect do so many evil things? Is it for money or something else?” Ye Qiu asked.

Mentioning this, Dragon King became even more furious.

“They’re not after fame or profit. No one knows why the Shaman God Sect does evil things. They have no bottom line. They poison when they want to poison, kill when they want to kill, acting on their whims. They’re simply a bunch of lunatics.”

Ye Qiu was shocked. These aren’t just lunatics; they’re clearly a group of madmen!

Dragon King then said seriously, “Little Ye, I advise you to stop investigating this matter.”
