Chapter 135 – Liu Lengpei’s notes

“However, I’ve only been at the temple for three years, perhaps Elder Liu was the one who entertained guests before.”

The young monk quickly found a reason for Chen Mobai’s words, which relieved the latter.

“Why don’t I help you clean up?”

“This… Thank you, benefactor.”

With someone offering help, of course, he would be willing.

Chen Mobai let Tang Pancui continue eating, then he got up and went with the young monk to clean up the belongings.

“Has Elder Liu always been in your Taixu Temple?”

“Yes, Elder Liu is one of the most senior members of our Taixu Temple. He is considered a brother to our abbot, but he is a loner. Over the years, he has been tidying up miscellaneous items in the temple. Besides that, he likes to go to the mountains to collect herbs, often going out for more than ten days without returning.”

As they spoke, the two had arrived at Liu Yanpei’s room. Upon opening the door, they saw a simple bed, a table, a wardrobe, a storage cabinet, and rows of bookshelves filled with various books.

There were books about the history of the Immortal Gate, laws and regulations, administrative policies, introductions to Taoist academies, and many cultivation manuals and spell books that were circulating in the market, even books on talisman crafting and elixir refining.

“Elder Liu was also our temple’s doctor. Whenever someone had a headache or fever, he would help prepare herbal medicine. The effects were quite good.”

The young monk spoke as he spread the quilt on the bed onto the floor, then placed the clothes, medicine jars, pots and bowls, and other miscellaneous items from the room onto it, preparing to pack them all up and sort them into the garbage dump for the earth masters to take away.

“Do you still need these?”

Chen Mobai pointed to the nearly hundred books on the bookshelf, thinking that he might find some clues as to why this cultivator from the Five Elements Sect of the Tianhe Realm came to the Earth Yuan Star.

“All of it will be disposed of. The abbot said to get rid of everything.”

The young monk looked up and saw that they were books, and immediately shook his head as he continued to pack up the clothes.

“Then I’ll help clean these up.”

Chen Mobai took the mat from the bed, spread it out on the floor like the young monk did, and then took down the books from the bookshelf one by one.

Using his divine sense, he briefly scanned each book to make sure there were no hidden papers or content, then placed them on the mat.

After about half an hour of work, he finally finished sorting all the books on the bookshelf and found three or four blank notebooks.

These notebooks were very strange. They were clearly blank, but many of the pages were wrinkled, as if they had been flipped through and written on.

With his divine sense, he discovered the clue.

These notebooks were written with a special ink that probably needed a special solution to be washed over before they could be read. Or, he could use his divine sense to view the written traces, which was even clearer.

“What was Elder Liu Yanpei’s cultivation level before he passed away?”

“He was in the late stage of Qi Refining. I don’t know exactly which level, but I heard the abbot say that among us in Taixu Temple, Elder Liu had the highest cultivation level.”

Chen Mobai’s expression showed understanding. The abbot was only at the sixth level of Qi Refining. Liu Yanpei hid his notes in this way, so even if someone accidentally came into the Taixu Temple, they wouldn’t see what he had written.

“I’ve been making talismans recently and need some notebooks for drafting. Why don’t you give these to me? I’m willing to donate some Good Deeds to the temple as incense money.”

“No, no, benefactor, if you need them, just take them.”

The young monk quickly shook his head upon hearing this.

They were just a few blank notebooks, not worth much.

“Where is the garbage dump of your Taixu Temple? I’ll use a spell to help you carry it over.”

As he spoke, Chen Mobai activated his levitation spell, picked up the packed quilt and mat, and under the guidance of the young monk, threw these items onto an open space on the south side of the temple.

“Thank you, benefactor.”

The young monk was only at the third level of Qi Refining. Without Chen Mobai’s help, he would have had to make at least two trips to dispose of everything.

Now that everything was easily taken care of, he was visibly pleased.

On the way home, Tang Pancui looked at the notebooks in Chen Mobai’s hand with disgust.

Things from the dead, bad luck.

Chen Mobai could only roll his eyes at her words and pretend he didn’t hear them.

After returning to Qing Mountain Village, Chen Mobai sat on the lounge chair in the courtyard and began to decipher the diaries written with invisible ink using his divine sense.

“Received news from a junior brother, Ancestor Hunyuan has passed away. The Wood and Metal veins intend to rebel and split the sect. As a disciple of the Five Elements Sect, I will not allow this to happen.”

“On the way, I encountered a senior brother from the Metal vein. After a fight, although I killed the opponent, I was seriously injured and had to find a mountain with a slight spiritual energy to recuperate.”

“The mountain is nameless, but at the center of the spiritual vein on the mountain top, there is a Taixu Temple. I entered it and healed under the statue of the deity. But when I woke up, I found myself on a different continent.”

“The sect’s legend says that the Tianhe Realm was originally a vast ocean. After the jellyfish refined the void and combined the Dao, it opened up five continents and four seas. I didn’t expect it to be true. I don’t know whether this is a blessing or a curse for me. I hope the cultivators of this different continent are not demonic cultivators.”

Upon reading this, Chen Mobai found that Liu Yanpei seemed to have waited a long time before continuing to write in his diary.

The subsequent content was hastily written, indicating the great shock Liu Yanpei felt when he wrote it.

“This is not the Tianhe Realm, but a different world called Earth Yuan Star. The hundreds of millions of human races here all have spiritual roots and are all cultivating Qi. The total number of cultivators in the entire Tianhe Realm probably doesn’t even compare to this. The sect that rules this world is called ‘Immortal Gate’. There are even two Deification True Monarchs rumored to exist, and there are more than ten Elemental Infants. Could this be the Immortal Realm?”

After writing this, he stopped for a long time before adding new content.

“I heard that the Immortal Gate launches a war of opening every once in a while. I absolutely cannot let them know about the existence of the Tianhe Realm. Otherwise, the Eastern Wilderness, as their point of invasion, the strongest Five Elements Sect will definitely be destroyed.”

“I don’t have an ID, so I can only wander around the villages outside the city. I dare not enter the rumored thirty-six heavenly caves and seventy-two blessed lands. I heard that there are Golden Elixir ancestors in these immortal cities.”Chen Mobai saw that this was the end of a notebook, which described Liu Yanpei’s astonishment towards the Immortal Gate, as well as his cautious inquiries about various aspects of the Immortal Gate outside the city.

Being an undocumented person, he couldn’t even buy a mobile phone or access the internet.

After understanding the system of the Immortal Gate and learning that there were two Golden Elixir Taoist masters in nearby Danxia City, he dared not to snatch anything and could only retreat back into the Taixu Mountain Range.

Chen Mobai picked up the second notebook and finally discovered what happened to Liu Yanpei after he entered the Taixu Temple.

“I heard that there is also a Taixu Temple in this mountain. My arrival in this world may be related to this temple. I need to find a way to infiltrate it.”
