Chapter 31 – The sword demon turned out to be a woman

Hong Qi, having spent day and night with Meng Fan, naturally knew that he was deliberately selecting ordinary swords to wipe clean, avoiding the Spiritual Swords.

So when Meng Fan was about to touch a Spiritual Sword, she took the initiative to remind him.

Meng Fan might sometimes fail to distinguish a Spiritual Sword, but as one herself, Hong Qi was crystal clear about it!

Hearing Hong Qi’s reminder, a trace of surprise appeared on Meng Fan’s face.

However, it was just a trace of surprise. He had previously considered the possibility that some Spiritual Swords might look ordinary and be picked by him inadvertently.

Therefore, he had always been very careful and deliberate in avoiding the Spiritual Swords.

Unexpectedly, this time he really encountered one!

But after hearing Hong Qi’s warning, Meng Fan did not move his hand away; instead, he continued to reach for the Spiritual Sword.

During this time, the swords he had come into contact with were too inferior, even those containing Sword Wraiths brought no significant gains.

Since he had coincidentally come across a Spiritual Sword this time, Meng Fan decided not to dodge it and to test both the sword and himself!

Now that Meng Fan had reached the third level of Qi Refining and was taking Body Tempering Pills daily, his physique was much stronger than before.

Most importantly, after his previous enlightenment at the Sword God Stele, Meng Fan’s consciousness had also grown and improved significantly.

“It’s time to test the waters with a Spiritual Sword!” Meng Fan muttered to himself.

“Don’t be rash!” Hong Qi’s voice, tinged with nervousness and urgency, echoed in Meng Fan’s mind.

She clearly remembered how the Inner Sect Disciple Dugu Ming, a being of the True Martial Realm, was nearly killed by a Spiritual Sword.

Meng Fan’s early contact with a Spiritual Sword was indeed a bit impulsive.

Unfortunately, her warning was too late.

Because Meng Fan’s hand had already grasped the Spiritual Sword.

【Sword Name: Mo Yun】

The moment Meng Fan’s hand touched the Mo Yun Sword, a massive Malevolent Aura surged from the blade, enveloping him.

The Hong Qi Sword burst into a bright red light, attempting to resist the Malevolent Aura and protect its master.

Meng Fan, however, quickly shouted, “Hong Qi, hold back, let me handle this!”

The light of the Hong Qi Sword flickered, clearly hesitating.

In the end, Hong Qi obediently followed Meng Fan’s words and did not intervene.

Although she was worried, she felt that Meng Fan was the master she had chosen and she should trust him!

If he couldn’t handle this danger, how could he grow, and how could he have the power to avenge her?

The rolling Sword Wraiths surrounded Meng Fan, looking extremely grim and terrifying.

Moments later, all the Sword Wraiths poured into Meng Fan’s body.

Hong Qi’s phantom emerged from the Hong Qi Sword, looking at Meng Fan with concern.

At the same time, she was somewhat puzzled; it seemed like Meng Fan was actively absorbing the Sword Wraiths into his body.

She shook her head, dismissing this absurd thought from her mind.

“Are you worried about him?”

Hong Qi heard a voice and then turned around sharply.

She saw Senior Disciple Luo, who was also looking at Meng Fan with a worried expression.

For someone at the third level of Qi Refining to forcibly touch a Spiritual Sword was indeed very dangerous.

However, fortunately, Meng Fan was not like Dugu Ming, who wanted to subdue the Spiritual Sword. Meng Fan just wanted to clean it, so the sword probably wouldn’t be too harsh on him!

Moreover, Mo Yun was not as vicious as the Crimson Moon, so Meng Fan should be alright, right?

That’s what he thought, but Senior Disciple Luo wasn’t sure, after all, a Spiritual Sword is not human and cannot be measured with human thinking.

However, Meng Fan, this youngster, had shown various extraordinary traits since entering the Sword Pavilion, and presumably, he should be able to withstand the Mo Yun Sword.

Senior Disciple Luo looked curiously at Hong Qi and said, “Honestly, I’m quite curious, why do you care so much about this kid? Even if he has good talent, it doesn’t seem to warrant such concern from you. Could it be that you’ve also taken a liking to his handsome appearance? Do sword spirits also fancy good-looking men?”

Hearing Senior Disciple Luo’s words, Hong Qi was visibly taken aback.

Because she herself had never considered this question!

Did she acknowledge Meng Fan as her master because of his handsome face, or because of his astonishing talent for enlightenment?

It seemed to be both!

Senior Disciple Luo did not know that the sword spirit of the Hong Qi Sword was once a living person.

He was not like Meng Fan, who could discern the origins and refining methods of the Hong Qi Sword.

So he had no idea that the Hong Qi Sword was refined through the Sword Sacrifice with Maiden’s Heartblood, nor did he know that the sword spirit Hong Qi was the girl who had been sacrificed.

If he had known, he wouldn’t have teased the Hong Qi Sword like that.

“None of your business!” Hong Qi snorted coldly, then turned into a red light and re-entered the Hong Qi Sword.

Senior Disciple Luo touched his nose, not understanding why he had been scolded?

Indeed, sword spirits are unreasonable, let alone a subject for jokes.

“If this kid can withstand the Sword Wraith of the Mo Yun Sword without harm, perhaps it’s time to take him to meet Elder Lin,” Senior Disciple Luo murmured to himself.

Perhaps this kid really has the potential to become Elder Lin’s personal disciple!

If so, that would be a meteoric rise.

Thinking this, Senior Disciple Luo couldn’t help feeling a bit envious.

But it was just envy, without any jealousy.

Because he had also had the chance to become Elder Lin’s personal disciple, but unfortunately, he was not up to par and managed only to become a Named Disciple.

Meanwhile, the Sword Wraiths that entered Meng Fan’s body were being furiously refined by the Sword Dao Transcendence.

The memories contained within the Sword Wraiths also gradually surfaced in Meng Fan’s mind.

Atop a certain mountain peak, shrouded in mist.

A man and a woman stood facing each other.

The man was dressed in white, while the woman wore a black robe.

Just from the colors of their clothing, one could sense their opposition.

“Sister Yu Rou, have you still not seen the error of your ways at this point?

The Primordial Sword Sect has been destroyed by the Ghost Shadow Demon Sect.

Master, Mistress, our brothers and sisters, have all turned to dust. Don’t you have any regrets?”

The man in white looked at the woman in black with a pained expression, his voice filled with bitterness and helplessness.

A sorrowful aura emanated from him.

Just from the beginning of this memory, Meng Fan understood that this was a tragic scene.

Indeed, the woman in black spoke, “From the moment I joined the Ghost Shadow Demon Sect, I ceased to be a part of the Primordial Sword Sect. Whether it exists or perishes has nothing to do with me!”

“Sister, Master told me before his death that his biggest concern was you, and he asked me to persuade you to return to the right path,” the man in white said with a complex tone.

The woman in black let out a cold laugh, her lips curling into a mocking sneer.

“He’s worried about me? He wants to drag me down to accompany him in death, doesn’t he?”

Meng Fan carefully watched these memories, followed by a series of tragic scenes between the man and the woman.

The woman was once a disciple of the Primordial Sword Sect but was wronged by the sect. In a fit of rage, she defected and joined the rival Demon Sect.

With her help, the Ghost Shadow Demon Sect successfully annihilated the Primordial Sword Sect.

The only survivor of the Primordial Sword Sect was this man in white, who found the woman in black, hoping to persuade her to repent.

Unfortunately, not every tragic story ends well.

The man in white clarified the misunderstandings of the past, but the woman named Yu Rou did not break down in tears and repent as Meng Fan had imagined.

The end of this memory was Yu Rou plunging her sword into the heart of the man in white.

The man in white, dead!

And the Mo Yun Sword was Yu Rou’s saber.

After killing the man in white with a single strike, Yu Rou realized a Sword Technique.

The Seven Absolute Demon Swords:

Absolute Heartlessness!

Absolute Righteousness!

Absolute Love!

Absolute Hatred!

Absolute Sorrow!

Absolute Joy!

Absolute Rage!

These seven absolutes led Yu Rou to fall completely into the path of the Demon Sword, becoming a Sword Monstrosity.

Meng Fan had heard of the great name of the Sword Monstrosity of the Ghost Shadow Demon Sect, a terrifyingly powerful being that even the sect leader dared not provoke lightly.

The Seven Absolute Demon Swords were the unique skills that allowed the Sword Monstrosity to dominate the world.

It’s worth mentioning that this Sword Monstrosity is still alive to this day.

After absorbing these memories, Meng Fan opened his eyes.

He was surprised to find that the renowned Sword Monstrosity was actually a woman.

This was indeed a surprise to Meng Fan.

Looking at the Mo Yun Sword in his hand, he felt somewhat astonished.

He hadn’t expected this seemingly ordinary Mo Yun Sword to have once been the saber of the Sword Monstrosity!

The Shu Mountain Sword Pavilion truly could be said to encompass all the famous swords in the world, even just one floor often yielded some remarkable finds.

However, although some of these swords had extraordinary origins, the strength of the swords themselves was clear.

It couldn’t be said that just because it was the saber of a great figure, it was more powerful than other swords of the same level.

There was no such thing; their power was actually the same!

But the famous swords of the Shu Mountain Sword Sect were indeed the most numerous in the entire world.

Not to mention anything else, one of the Three Divine Artifacts, Fuxi’s Sword, was in the Shu Mountain Sword Sect.

The famous Demon Locking Sword was also within the Demon Locking Tower of the Shu Mountain Sword Sect.

One day, if Meng Fan could come into contact with such a level of Divine Artifact, then he really could soar to the heavens!

“How do you feel, are you alright?” Senior Disciple Luo stood behind Meng Fan, asking with some concern.

“Senior Brother, rest assured, I’m fine!” Meng Fan turned around, looked at Senior Disciple Luo, and showed a slight smile.

Although there was a faint headache, this minor aftereffect was completely bearable for Meng Fan.

Meng Fan’s guess was not wrong; the previous enlightenment at the Sword God Stele had indeed greatly enhanced his consciousness and mental strength.

And this enhancement would be greatly beneficial for his future cultivation!

It seems he needs to find a way to earn some more Spirit Stones from Liu Yanping and try to comprehend the Sword God Stele again.

For others, comprehending the Sword God Stele was a waste of Spirit Stones.

But for Meng Fan, the help that comprehending the Sword God Stele provided was too significant!

Meng Fan drew out the Mo Yun Sword, wiped it clean, and then returned it to its place.

Then, the Essence of the Sword that flowed into Meng Fan’s body from the Mo Yun Sword was much more than from ordinary swords.

This also matched Meng Fan’s guess; indeed, the Essence of the Sword emanating from a Spiritual Sword was much more!

“You go rest for now. After the Sword Pavilion closes today, follow me to the second floor.”
