Chapter 25 – Clan competition, opportunity to observe the sword

Meng Fan rolled his eyes.

Serve in bed? What kind of service can a spirit body provide?

She’s trying to suck out my Yang Qi, isn’t she?

“Get back into your sword,” Meng Fan said, clearly annoyed.

“Am I not beautiful?” Hong Qi floated up to Meng Fan’s face, her delicate features just an inch away, almost touching his.

Undoubtedly, this was pure teasing.

Meng Fan simply closed his eyes and continued his cultivation, out of sight, out of mind.

“Boring guy!” Hong Qi muttered, then turned into a red light and zipped back into the Hong Qi Sword.

Soon, day broke.

Meng Fan stepped out of his room, freshened up, and began to clean his long sword.

After cleaning forty swords, only one contained a Malevolent Aura.

After refining the Malevolent Aura, Meng Fan learned a Sword Technique from the Sword Wraith Memory.

“Lingyun Sword Technique”

An unremarkable technique.

In fact, Meng Fan had seen this technique in the Training Hall before.

Although he didn’t care much for it, it did complete his Myriad Swords Returning to me.

“Meng kid, I’m not going out today. If you want to go to the Training Hall, just go,” said Senior Disciple Luo, getting up late as usual around noon.

He had fetched quite a bit of wine yesterday, enough to last him a few days.

Meng Fan didn’t stand on ceremony and, after informing Senior Disciple Luo, left the Sword Pavilion.

After all, he had finished cleaning the swords for the day, and there was nothing left for him to do there.

Senior Disciple Luo watched Meng Fan’s departing figure, his face finally showing surprise.

“This kid is really something. It seems the Sword Pavilion has stumbled upon a treasure by mistake.”

When Meng Fan arrived at the Sword Pavilion, he was just a Menial Disciple, not only had he not reached the Qi Cultivation Realm, but he didn’t even have a wisp of True Qi in his body.

How long has it been?

He’s already broken through to the second layer of the Qi Cultivation Realm!

To be honest, it’s a bit outrageous.

“Such talent, is it a waste to keep him in the Sword Pavilion?” Senior Disciple Luo couldn’t help but think.

“No, it’s precisely in the Sword Pavilion that such talent truly has boundless prospects!”

For ordinary people, being a Guarding Sword Disciple in the Sword Pavilion is a dead end.

But for a true genius, the Sword Pavilion is where they can soar to great heights!

Danger often comes with incredible opportunities.

It’s just that ordinary people lack the ability to overcome danger and seize those opportunities.

“It looks like I can find an opportunity to take him upstairs to meet Elder Lin,” Senior Disciple Luo murmured to himself.

However, although Meng Fan had not met Elder Lin, it didn’t mean Elder Lin hadn’t seen Meng Fan.

Perhaps Elder Lin had been paying attention to this youngster all along.

If I wasn’t qualified to be Elder Lin’s personal disciple, maybe this guy Meng Fan has a chance!

After leaving the Sword Pavilion, Meng Fan headed straight for the Training Hall.

To his surprise, there were no disciples practicing or learning swordsmanship in the Training Hall today.

What’s going on?

The Training Hall was usually bustling with people, but today not a single disciple was present, which was extremely unusual.

After a moment, Meng Fan slapped his forehead.

He then remembered that today was the day of the Shu Mountain Sword Sect Clan Disciple Competition.

Menial Disciples, Outer Sect Disciples, and Inner Sect Disciples all had to participate in the ranking matches to update their standings.

In the past, Meng Fan always ranked at the bottom in the Menial Disciple ranking matches.

Thus, the Clan Disciple Competition was a shadow over Meng Fan.

But now that Meng Fan had become a Guarding Sword Disciple of the Sword Pavilion, he no longer needed to participate in such competitions.

“The Clan Competition is actually a chance to see more Sword Techniques, better than watching in the Training Hall,” Meng Fan muttered to himself as he left the Training Hall.

Since he didn’t have to participate in the Clan Competition, it was a good opportunity to watch others compete.

In the Shu Mountain Sword Sect, 99% of the disciples used swords and learned Sword Techniques.

It was rare for someone to cultivate other weapons.

So for Meng Fan, who wanted to watch Sword Techniques, the Clan Competition was indeed a good choice.

Soon, Meng Fan arrived at the Heavenly Sword Square of the Shu Mountain Sword Sect.

This square was extremely spacious, occupying nearly half of Shu Mountain, and could be said to represent the face of the Shu Mountain Sword Sect.

Heavenly Sword Square could accommodate tens of thousands of people at once.

Even if all members of the Shu Mountain Sword Sect came to the square, there would still be room to stand.

Meng Fan arrived quite late, and many disciples had already begun their matches.

The square was divided into three areas: Menial Disciple area, Outer Sect Disciple area, and Inner Sect Disciple area.

Although Menial Disciples had the lowest status, their area was the largest.

There was no helping it; there were more Menial Disciples than Inner and Outer Sect Disciples combined!

Since he was there to watch, Meng Fan naturally chose to observe the strongest competitors.

He discreetly made his way to the Inner Sect Disciple area.

Although he was only a second-layer Qi Cultivator and somewhat out of place among the Inner Sect Disciples, on such a big day, no one would come forward to mock Meng Fan or say he didn’t belong there.

Everyone was behaving themselves!

“Meng Fan, what are you doing here?” Not long after arriving at the Inner Sect Disciple area, Meng Fan heard a familiar voice.

Rich Woman Liu Yanping!

Meng Fan had a deep impression of her, the generous benefactor who had given him eleven Spirit Stones in one go.

“Sister Liu,” Meng Fan quickly greeted her in response.

Liu Yanping approached Meng Fan, looking puzzled, “Aren’t you supposed to be with the Outer Sect Disciples? Oh, I remember now, you’re not an Outer Sect Disciple, you’re from the Sword Pavilion, so you don’t have to participate in the Clan Competition, right?”

Meng Fan nodded, “That’s right, Sister Liu.”

“So what are you doing here? Watching the sword fights?” Liu Yanping knew about Meng Fan’s hobby; he liked to hide in corners and watch others practice swordsmanship.

Now, with the Clan Competition underway, a “peeping tom” like Meng Fan certainly wouldn’t miss it.

Meng Fan smiled wryly, “Sister Liu, you’re answering your own questions and stealing my lines. What am I supposed to say?”

“Ha ha!” Liu Yanping laughed heartily, quite carefree.

Seeing Meng Fan watching a pair of Inner Sect Disciples compete, she shook her head, “Stop watching their sword fight, it’s not that interesting. Look at this instead.”

She then dragged Meng Fan in another direction, where another man and woman were competing.

“Is there something special about these two?” Meng Fan asked curiously.

He didn’t understand why Liu Yanping specifically brought him over to watch these two people compete.

“This woman, named Yang Xiaohua, has ranked just above me in the last two Inner Sect Disciple rankings. I’ve been annoyed with her for a while and want to knock her down a peg,” Liu Yanping said indignantly.

Meng Fan asked, somewhat puzzled, “So what’s the use of dragging me over here?”

Liu Yanping said, “I see you’re well-versed in many Sword Techniques. She practices the ‘Cloud Mist Thirteen Swords.’ Have you learned it?”

Cloud Mist Thirteen Swords?

Honestly, Meng Fan himself didn’t know if he had learned it.

He had seen many Sword Techniques in the Training Hall, but he didn’t know the names of those techniques.
