Chapter 76 – Club rules

“All done!

Yang Jian quickly finished his work.

He had called every number on the contact list without missing a single one.

Now, all that was left was to wait.

The spread of this curse was not immediate. When the knocking ghost would visit depended on its mood…after all, it was busy too.

“I’ve finished my end. How’s it going over there?”

Yang Jian picked up the phone and called Yan Li, while also organizing files on his computer and taking notes.

“I’ve made contact. We can go to the club for the trade now. Where are you? Do you want me to pick you up?” Yan Li immediately asked.

“No need. I have a car. Just send me your location.”

“Okay.”

With the location sent, Yang Jian immediately drove over.

The location was in the outskirts of the city.

A bit remote.

But that was normal. This dangerous gathering place wasn’t suitable for a crowded urban area.

On the way, Yang Jian also contacted the operator, Liu Xiaoyu.

“Do you know anything about the city’s Ghost Tamer Club?”

Liu Xiaoyu, who had just answered the call, was taken aback by Yang Jian’s question. “Is it a civilian club? We don’t handle information about that. I don’t know.”

“Okay then,” Yang Jian said.

Since Liu Xiaoyu didn’t know anything, there was no point in continuing the call.

“Wait, don’t hang up yet. I have some news to tell you. The situation with Zhou Zheng in Da Chang City has been resolved. A new detective will be dispatched to replace Zhou Zheng’s work soon. You might want to contact him directly for some things,” Liu Xiaoyu said.

“A new detective?” Yang Jian’s eyes flickered. “If I have time, I’ll contact him.”

“Okay, I’ll send you some information. That’s all for now.”

After driving for about ten minutes, Yang Jian stopped in front of a villa in the suburbs.

The location was here according to the GPS.

“Yang Jian, over here,” Yan Li waved from the side of the road.

“Is this the location of the club? It looks pretty legitimate,” Yang Jian looked up and commented.

Yan Li said, “It’s sponsored by a local wealthy businessman. If you join the club, you might get lucky and receive a sponsorship from the wealthy businessman. When I joined the club for the first time, a wealthy businessman sponsored me with ten million yuan.”

“That sounds like some dirty business,” Yang Jian said.”There’s nothing serious about it. All the local wealthy businessmen here have money to burn. They spend their days either consuming or flaunting their wealth. Now that there’s a supernatural event, of course they’ll use their money to save their lives. We’re taking their money to take care of them, or to put it bluntly, we’re just their bodyguards in case something happens,” Yan Li said.

“Come, I’ll take you to the club.”

The estate had a great environment, with gardens, fountains, lawns… and many Chinese-style buildings. It was clear that the person who designed the estate had good taste.

“Welcome, Mr. Yan,” two smiling receptionists greeted them as they walked into a lobby.

Yang Jian glanced at the two receptionists, not to admire their long legs, but because he felt that they were abnormal… Their professional smiles were too stiff, like those of a dead person.

“No, they’re not dead,” Yang Jian sensed their breath and aura, but it was a bit chilly.

In any case, it wasn’t normal.

“The person we’re meeting is on the fifth floor,” Yan Li said.

“Is there any risk?” Yang Jian asked.

“Why would there be any risk? This is a club, and you can trade here with peace of mind,” Yan Li replied.

“Still, be careful. Your information may have been leaked from this club. Otherwise, how could ordinary people find out about you?” Yang Jian said.

“That’s true,” Yan Li agreed.

As they spoke, they took the elevator to the fifth floor and pushed open the door to a luxurious hall. But as soon as they walked in, the few people in the hall all turned to look at them.

Yan Li?

They almost immediately recognized him, but when they saw Yang Jian, they paused for a moment.

“Haha, Yan Li, you came at just the right time. We were just talking about you. Not bad, you made a lot of money in just a few days, and you actually managed to capture a ghost,” a middle-aged man laughed and got up from the sofa to greet them.

“But doing something like this alone is very dangerous. Why didn’t you invite us to help?” he continued.

“If there’s money to be made, we can all make it together,” Yan Li was repulsed by this person and said, “Zhang Han, we still haven’t settled our accounts from last time. Do you have the nerve to say that?”

It seemed that Yan Li had suffered a loss at Zhang Han’s hands before.

“Hehe, you still remember that little thing from last time? I thought you had forgotten. We’re all in the same boat, so why bother being so clear about who owes whom? Who is this little brother? Did you just recruit him?” Zhang Han squinted at Yang Jian.”He’s Yang Jian, the new Ghost Tamer, he came to talk business with me.” Yan Li said, “I hope you can give me some face and not make things difficult for others.”

“What do you mean by making things difficult? Of course, we welcome new members, but the rules for new members cannot be changed.” Zhang Han laughed.

Yan Li didn’t speak, he just ignored Zhang Han and walked away with Yang Jian.

“Wait here for a moment, I’ll go get the people.”

“No problem.” Yang Jian nodded.

“Be careful, some of these people are not normal. If there’s trouble, just endure it for now. We don’t deal with them.” Yan Li said.

“I’ll try my best.” Yang Jian replied.

After Yan Li left, the people sitting here looked at Yang Jian again.

“A new member? He looks so young. Is he even an adult yet?”

“He looks like a student. It’s a pity he became a Ghost Tamer at such a young age.”

“Do you want to mess with him? We’re just idle anyway.”

“Of course, so that he won’t be like Yan Li when he first came, thinking he’s better than everyone else. Let him suffer a bit and learn to behave. We can also see his abilities and tell him about the rules for new members.”

Two people were drinking at the bar.

One of them walked over with a smile, holding a glass.

“Friend, let me introduce myself. I’m Ye Jun, a member of this club and a Ghost Tamer like you.”

Ye Jun walked over unsteadily and shook hands with Yang Jian.

“Yang Jian.”

Yang Jian politely shook his hand, but at that moment, he felt Ye Jun’s hand was as cold as a dead person’s. At the same time, a ghost eye almost uncontrollably emerged from his palm, emitting a faint red light.

A black handprint appeared on his palm.

“Don’t shake hands with him. He’s Ghost Hand Ye Jun. His hand can curse you. Oh dear, you’re so careless. This thing will rot you into a pile of mud in less than three days, even with just one handprint. If he gives you more, you won’t survive for a minute.” Zhang Han said, shaking his head and sighing.

“Your situation is not good right now. Get Ye Jun to remove it for you. Only he can do it.”

Yang Jian looked at the black handprint in his hand and asked, “What does this mean?”Ye Jun casually sat down and said, “Yang Jian, right? As a newcomer, you didn’t even greet us, let alone understand the rules. That’s very impolite. But nevermind, we are all generous people and won’t hold it against you. Let me be straightforward, we will take 50% of the profit from your transaction today. But don’t worry, it’s only this once, there won’t be a second time.”

“Of course, the money isn’t just for me, all the club members will share it. Once you join the club, you can also enjoy this cut from the newcomers’ first transaction.”

Yang Jian looked at the palm print in his hand and asked, “Is this a rule? Why didn’t Yan Li tell me?”

“Of course he wouldn’t tell you. He suffered a lot when he was a newcomer, being young and impulsive.” Ye Jun shook his head and swayed the wine glass in his hand.

“So, the newcomers should learn from the mistakes of their predecessors, right?”

Yang Jian shook his head and said, “No.”

“Huh?”

“I just know that you wanted to kill me just now, so…” The previously calm Yang Jian suddenly burst out, pulling out a pistol from somewhere and pointing it directly at Ye Jun’s head.

“A customized pistol? Friend, calm down.”

Ye Jun was stunned for a moment, but upon seeing the golden pistol, he realized that something was wrong.

This kind of pistol was specifically designed to deal with ghost tamers.

“Bang!”

The next moment, Yang Jian fired.

A golden bullet went straight into Ye Jun’s forehead.

“Bang! Bang!”

The second and third shots rang out…

“Damn.”

Zhang Han, who was standing nearby, quickly retreated several steps in fright.

The other people drinking at the bar were also stunned.

What was going on?

Why were guns being fired? What was happening?

Yang Jian emptied all the bullets, and Ye Jun’s skull shattered. There was no blood splatter, only a dark brown, foul-smelling corpse fluid. Immediately, a rotten stench filled the air.

As the gunshots stopped, Ye Jun was motionless, his head a mess, slumped on a nearby sofa.

“This is my rule, Yang Jian. Now, is there anyone else who wants to talk about rules with me?”

Yang Jian placed the pistol on the coffee table in front of him, his face cold as he scanned the crowd.
